Swiss Wine by Fassbind

The hotel was familiar to me as I had stayed there several years ago when it was the City Hotel. It is much nicer than it was then and recently upgraded. It is well-located for ease of access to the heart of Lausanne. There is an elevator for luggage. The bed and covers were exceptionally comfortable. The bathroom was new and excellent, and the hot shower was terrific. There was coffee service and a refrigerator. The TV had good programming for USA travelers. We did not partake in the breakfast service, but the breakfast room looked attractive. Our only major disappointment was the parking situation. We were NOT guided well to the Mon Repos Parking garage. We were given a ticket to put into the parking machine upon exiting, allowing us to pay 50% off. Unfortunately, it was not emphasized that the closer garage was NOT the garage to park in. We found that out upon exiting when we paid an exorbitant parking bill! There are several garages around the area, and the garage with the discount required driving around the block. It should have been emphasized to travelers that there are several garages around and to NOT go to so and so, but to Mon Repos around the block. The sticker shock of the higher-priced garage and no discount really killed the otherwise lovely stay. We are still quite upset by it; the garage bill for two days of parking costs more than a night in the hotel! Sadly, that really tainted an otherwise pleasant stay!

Die Unterkunft ist ausgezeichnet, der Service sehr gut und auch die Zimmer sind sehr schön eingerichtet, mit allem was es braucht um sich richtig wohl zu fühlen. Auch liegt sie super zentral. Das einzigste was uns nicht so gut gefallen hat, ist das keine Parkmöglichkeiten vor Ort sind. Die einzigste Möglichkeit sein Auto unterzubringen ist 10 Gehmin. entfernt und kostet 30 chf für 24 Std. Allerdings bekommt man ein öffentliches Verkehrsticket für die ganz Lausanne. Es wäre also sinnvoll erst einzuchecken und sich dann eine Parkmöglichkeit ausserhalb zu suchen. Um die hohen Parkkosten zu sparen.

Included metro/bus/train ticket with our stay which made getting around very easy.

Chambre et couloir un peu sombres. Sinon l'hotel est central et pratique. Très bien d'avoir un pass pour le métro

Il serait souhaitable que dans l’offre internet, vous précisiez que le parking est payant et est situé à 350 mètres. Et dommage que le personnel de réception ne parle pas du tout français !!!

The staff were very friendly and the hotel was in a great location. Easy access to the train and close to many restaurants and cafes. The view from the room was great too (the Lausanne Cathedreal). However, our room was dirty (coffee stains on the walls, cobwebs on the floors, etc.). The conditions were also not great (the toilet paper holder was falling off the wall, the shower always made the floor wet, it was hard to open the bathroom door, dents in the wall, etc.). The wifi was also spotty and slow. Larger fans were needed in the room, since there was no air conditioning. It was extremely hot during our stay.

Great local, very comfortable and clean room. The only drawback for the lack of air conditioning. There was a ceiling fan and a table fan but they did not really make the room temperature comfortable for sleeping. The windows open but it was noisy at night because of European football finals taking place and locals celebrating the matches in the streets.

The location is perfect for the Metro just 3 stops from the main railway station. Close to the cathedral and fantastic eating places. The reception staff are super friendly, helpful and take interest in you and your reason for visiting - offering help and suggestions where needed. Our room had a lovely view over towards the cathedral. Very quiet hotel which the housekeeping staff keep super clean and tidy. We will return and highly recommend it as a location to stay.

Cette fois, nous avons eu deux petites chambre s sans vue, sentant la fumée de cigarette (nous avons pu changer une des chambres). Les lits sont en revanche toujours confortables. Le personnel de réception est inégalement aimable (la réceptionniste pour notre Check in ne l’était vraiment pas). Elle nous a affirmé que nous avions réservé le petit déjeuner buffet et nous a fait payer la note avant même de nous donner les clefs de chambre alors que nous n’avions pas réservé de petit déjeuner (nous avions seulement interrogé sa collègue sur les horaires d’ouverture). Nous avons fini par accepté en expliquant que nous devrions impérativement déjeuner à 6h30 (heure d’ouverture du petit déjeuner). À 6h30, rien n’était ouvert, nous avons dû faire ouvrir la salle à 6h45. Le petit déjeuner n’était vraiment pas bon (produits industriels, œufs brouillés froids) et ne justifiait pas les 20 CHF demandés pour chaque personne. Le niveau de propreté des parties communes est dégradé par rapport à notre séjour précédent. Nous ne reviendrons pas.

I had great stay at the Swiss Wine Hotel during a recent trip to Switzerland, where I reconnected with friends and explored the charming city and beyond. The historic Place de la Riponne and the stunning cathedral are also within walking distance of the hotel; just a short stroll across the picturesque Charles Bessières Bridge. My room was immaculately clean and boasted a supremely comfortable bed, ensuring a restful night's sleep. The only minor drawback was the room's warmth, as it didn't have air conditioning. However, I was able to manage by opening the windows during the day to let in the fresh air and closing them at night to enjoy a peaceful sleep (as my room faced onto the main street). Despite this minor issue, I would definitely consider staying here again on a future visit. In fact, I would recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and conveniently located hotel in Lausanne. Just be prepared for a warm stay during the summer months!

Stock): grundsätzlich sehr geräumig mit guter Ausstattung wie Safe, Wasserkocher, leerer Kühlschrank. Katastrophal war die Hitze: zunächst ging die Klimaanlage nicht; nachdem der Mitarbeiter sie anmachte lief sie. Allerdings war sie so laut und hat sehr gestunken, so dass ich sie nachts ausschalten musste und das Fenster (zur Hauptstrasse öffnen musste). Ich war schon einige Male in diesem Hotel; allerdings nie im Sommer. Werde wohl erst im Herbst/Winter wieder kommen, da es sonst sehr heiss ist.

I liked the position of the hotel and I like that they have a deal with a nearby parkinglot. The rooms were too hot, even with the ceiling fan, it was impossible to be there in daytime, we went in August.

Centrally located and with great views of the cathedral..rooms slightly small for thr peice but that’s somewhat typical for Europe and especially that it’s a century old building that was recently refurbished into a hotel..big shout out to the reception staff Simoni and Elefterios who were especially helpful through out our stay!

Had a great view from the window of the city, and the hotels architecture and interior were very unique and beautiful. Staff were great and the breakfast was actually very high quality compared to many other hotels and delicious. Close to a lot of shopping and nightlife, overall a great stay, and spacious room.

Despite this minor issue, I would definitely consider staying here again on a future visit. In fact, I would recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and conveniently located hotel in Lausanne. Just be prepared for a warm stay during the summer months!

Absolutely loved this wine themed hotel. Stayed one night before catching a morning train to Paris. The wine decor was fantastic, it was clean,right across the street from the Metro that was only three quick stops from Lausanne Gare which is perfect if taking the TGV. Also the staff was really friendly and helpful. Would 100% recommend staying in this modern hotel.
