The town of Lima is wonderful but I recommend researching your hotel choices closely. The Continental seemed to accommodate the Expedia members in what was a mess than desirable location in the hotel. The hotel is due a hardware and security upgrade (door locks, bathrooms, etc.) The window for the room is was given had construction noise in the day and nightclub noise at night.
The town of Lima is wonderful but I recommend researching your hotel choices closely. Overall a good place to stay. Nice and close to the historic district, with bars and restaurants within easy walking distance. Hotel was elderly with a few rough edges, but fine. Staff were friendly, and the laundry service was good. Internet service, though, was not great - spotty coverage, low speeds, and there was a complete outage for a couple of hours one day. Also, for the technically minded, you cannot establish an outgoing VPN connection - for some reason it is blocked.

-Does not have AC so if travel during non hot moths is perfect. they do offer fan . -Does not have buffet however included a breakfast good for the sale price, and lunch or dinner for afordable price. This seasoned old royal hotel is recommended if you going to Lima to walk to the plazas and palace and some free museums tours around the old historic sites. It included the breakfast not buffet style; the breakfast was simple coffee or tea choices, local bread, butter and jam, eggs to your choice scramble ,sunny side or boiled, and fresh fruit bowl. the rooms are clean, tv and cable and Wi-Fi included, got hot and cold water; Stayed and was able to walk to restaurant, movies, bars, plazas, and many others shopping experience, ; ps Does not have AC they do offer fan . It looks better in pictures, very average, it definitively has seen better days. Noisy area. We choose because the location, otherwise find a better hotel for similar price. Shower looked old and not clean well. Overcharged for pickup at the airport, $80 soles. Since it was my first time and arriving very late and not having a local SIM card for cell I decided to go that way, but local taxi was charging $55 soles. Breakfast was pretty basic.

The hotel is really old. When arrived at 10pm, the door was locked. The area felt unsafe. The room was dirty and had a very musky smell. Tried to reach out to Expedia and the hotel for early checkout and unused nights, they said no. Breakfast was 7-9am but everything was out by 745am. Only one person was working so everything was super slow and told a long time to just get coffee. Very unorganized.

La personne à la réception est très désagréable, le petit déjeuner pas bon (pain sec avec un peu de beurre, boisson chaude, jus de fruit et aucun choix!), la température de la douche est impossible à régler, soit on s'ébouillante soit l'eau est glacée. En positif, l'hôtel est bien situé, la literie est confortable et il y a des rideaux occultants, ce qui est rare au Pérou.

This hotel is one of my favorite in Lima. Location is a important, it is right in the middle of the downtown area, right behind wonderful plaza San Martin and four blocks away from main square plaza the armas. Lots of walking streets filled with restaurants, bars and shopping stores, souvenirs, museum, etc. Again, the spot is amazing. Rooms are very comfortable, clean and organised though a bit small for american standards ( europeans would find them perfect size). The breakfast is simple but ok if you need to fill you up before you go. Otherwise, there are plenty of options just outside the building. When the price is good, this is a good hotel to stay in.

The hotel is a classic type. It has character. All the staff were very nice, professional and helpful. I got to interact with Noe at the Front Desk and Lothar who work with the rooms. They are both great people. I enjoyed my stay at Hotel Continental.

Marquei para irem e me pegar no Aeroporto, mesmo eu tendo de pagar. Na semana que estaria lá ainda pedi para confirmarem e no dia que cheguei não tinha nenhum tranfer e tive ee pegar taxi. O banheiro era apertado e velho. O vaso sanitário não tinha espaço para as pernas de tão apertado que era em realçã ao uma banheira que não usei. a bica da pia do banheiro de movia, estava solta e era dificil para abrir, pois se movia. A únnica vantagem era a proximidade com o centro histórico de Lima. Não recomento

Overall a good place to stay. Nice and close to the historic district, with bars and restaurants within easy walking distance. Hotel was elderly with a few rough edges, but fine. Staff were friendly, and the laundry service was good. Internet service, though, was not great - spotty coverage, low speeds, and there was a complete outage for a couple of hours one day. Also, for the technically minded, you cannot establish an outgoing VPN connection - for some reason it is blocked.

The hotel is really old. When arrived at 10pm, the door was locked. The area felt unsafe. The room was dirty and had a very musky smell. Tried to reach out to Expedia and the hotel for early checkout and unused nights, they said no. Breakfast was 7-9am but everything was out by 745am. Only one person was working so everything was super slow and told a long time to just get coffee. Very unorganized.

It looks better in pictures, very average, it definitively has seen better days. Noisy area. We choose because the location, otherwise find a better hotel for similar price. Shower looked old and not clean well. Overcharged for pickup at the airport, $80 soles. Since it was my first time and arriving very late and not having a local SIM card for cell I decided to go that way, but local taxi was charging $55 soles. Breakfast was pretty basic.

This seasoned old royal hotel is recommended if you going to Lima to walk to the plazas and palace and some free museums tours around the old historic sites. It included the breakfast not buffet style; the breakfast was simple coffee or tea choices, local bread, butter and jam, eggs to your choice scramble ,sunny side or boiled, and fresh fruit bowl. the rooms are clean, tv and cable and Wi-Fi included, got hot and cold water; Stayed and was able to walk to restaurant, movies, bars, plazas, and many others shopping experience, ; ps Does not have AC they do offer fan . Does not have buffet They have a door person in the front door to control how goes in and out they got cameras on lobby ,during night time the close the front door and opened to customers only so security is not terrible. This hotel is one of my favorite in Lima. Location is a important, it is right in the middle of the downtown area, right behind wonderful plaza San Martin and four blocks away from main square plaza the armas. Lots of walking streets filled with restaurants, bars and shopping stores, souvenirs, museum, etc. Again, the spot is amazing. Rooms are very comfortable, clean and organised though a bit small for american standards ( europeans would find them perfect size). The breakfast is simple but ok if you need to fill you up before you go. Otherwise, there are plenty of options just outside the building. When the price is good, this is a good hotel to stay in.

L hotel est idéalement situé. si les chambres sont tres correctes malgre un mobilier vieillissant. Absence de coffre fort ou encore de seche cheveux. Le pire aura ete le petit déjeuner avec un serveur qui ne regardajt que son telephone sans debarasser les tables sans ravitailler le buffet en serviettes ou en cuilleres. Ceci a ete lamentable et fait baisser considérablement l avis !

La personne à la réception est très désagréable, le petit déjeuner pas bon (pain sec avec un peu de beurre, boisson chaude, jus de fruit et aucun choix!), la température de la douche est impossible à régler, soit on s'ébouillante soit l'eau est glacée. En positif, l'hôtel est bien situé, la literie est confortable et il y a des rideaux occultants, ce qui est rare au Pérou.
