We had no aircon and our room window was out on the carpark where there was ingoing noise of cars and people chatting all night . We had a old plug in fan but that was really noisy too. Our room must have been 30 degrees at least. And then to top it off at 6am when we had enough and was roasting the shower didnt work no matter how many time we pulled the toggle it just would stay. So our stay was not relaxing atall. Oh and the jacuzzi outside is very old and buttons dont work most of the time.

Thornton Hall is a good quality hotel with well trained and polite staff and good amenities.Also ample parking and good choice at breakfast. My only issue would be the poor quality of lighting in our bedroom particularly if you want to do some work or apply make up

FANTASTIC - beautiful surroundings and lovely mix of modernised country manor. Facilities and staff excellent. Very well equipped spa. Highlight was evening meal. Menu locally sourced and seasonal, chef is very talented. Incredible evening meal. One of best meals I have ever had. Breakfast traditional buffet. Good quality produce, although needed to be hotter, everything like warm.

I booked the hotel for the pool. Good size to do laps with but you have to get there early as it gets full as the morning goes. Only stayed the one night but we had a bottle of wine free which was a nice touch. Nice place, not large but fairly enough grounds. No airconditioning in our room but balcony door and window can be opened. Fairly clean room except for the electric fan which probably havent been cleaned for months with the amount of dirts and dust it has accumulated. It was a warm night and we had doubts using it. Attentive, respectful staff. Good breakfast selection and enough parking spaces. You can see cows grazing in the fields nearby. Will probably come back again but I keep remembering the dirty fan…we’ll see.

Absolutely beautiful hotel, friendly staff, clean and comfy. The only criticism is that £50 to use the pool and spa etc is absolutely extortionate…. Most hotels let hotel guests use these facilities for free, some higher end ones may charge around £10 or so which is fine….. but £50 is an absolute rip off. You can get 3 months gym membership for that. It is fleecing customers and made me not want to spend any more money in there like at the bar or restaurant etc.

A pleasant stay in a clean and comfortable room, situated in the annex. Being located onthe ground floor, noise from passing guests, in the corridor and outside, can be an issue. Unable to comment too much on the food as I was dissuaded from sampling the breakfast or using the main restaurant following a poor experience in the bistro, where the food was lacklustre and atmosphere resembled that of a sports centre cafeteria. A great pity. Overall the stay was fine but I felt it could be so much better by paying more attention to the small details.

Stayed for one night. Charged extra fir checking in an hour early but needed to do this as attending a wedding. Staff were lovely and very helpful. Hotel was beautiful but a bit tired in corridors in places. Room was lovely .very clean . Plenty of amenities. Tea coffee. Biscuits. Shampoo etc. Ironing board.Iron.Fan. Two double beds but one was quite lumpy so we slept in the other. Got a good nights sleep. Nice and quiet. Would highly recommend

Stay over for a wedding party. The room was very spacious. The bathroom was clean, had the usual toiletries and the shower was powerful. The hotel itself is beautiful and i can see why its a popular choice for weddings.

We had a lovely time and the spa was excellent, everywhere is very clean and the staff are all lovely, unfortunately the room was very noisy, i think we were above the kitchen so you could hear the deliveries being emptied etc. Would stay again but would definitely request a room somewhere different in the hotel.

We received a lovely warm welcome from the staff who were really helpful with everything we needed. They helped with our bags, told us where everything was and ordered us a taxi etc.. our room was beautiful, clean with a huge comfortable bed. We used the spa which was very clean and I loved the outside hot tubs. We ate in the brasserie and the food was very tasty. Breakfast buffet was lovely too.

Great stay, the rooms were nice and clean. The only thing I would say is it may want a bit of updating around the spa but I think this is currently happening. Can’t fault staff, or food either. Would recommend, and stay again.

Stayed for 1 night in between shopping at Liverpool One for the day and Cheshire Oaks next day. Lovely hotel, room was clean and modern and nice to be able to use the spa for a swim. The breakfast was buffet style with plenty of choice.

Hotel and facilities were good, but the room we were in backed onto the entrance to the function suite where a school prom was in progress. It was very noisy until late and we had to keep the windows closed to limit the noise which made the room too warm and stuffy on a hot day.

Kept awake most of night by blokes who where drinking either outside or in room above. Netflix would not work although they did offer to come to room and sort it out but couldn’t be bothered by then. Bathroom was a bit tired and dated and shower was awkward to work

Amazing! We got a room upgrade to “the studio” which was lovely, clean and spacious. The amenities were great and the room was extremely comfortable. The breakfast was lovely, along with the other restaurants in the hotel. The highlight being the gluten free options available at all of them. The staff were all very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the hotel and spa. We would 100% go back

The room next to ours had a group of women, which was more than the people assigned to the room, like 6 or 7. they were listening to loud music and clearly drunk with booze in their room Twice we complained to reception to get them to calm down and quieten down as a courtesy to us and other guests, however the hotel staff did not get them to do so. long and short we got no sleep and it spoiled our stay

I am writing this review because, despite being asked to email the hotel about my concerns, I have not received any response. This lack of follow-up has left me disappointed and compelled me to share my experience publicly. I stayed at this hotel from December 7th to December 8th to celebrate my wife’s birthday. While we dined at The Lawns Grill, which was a pleasant experience, it is worth noting that the restaurant was an additional cost and unrelated to the core issue of my stay. The main problem was the extremely thin walls, which made it impossible to block out noise from a group of loud guests in the adjacent room. Their conversation was so loud it felt like they were in our room. Despite raising multiple complaints with the reception—by phone and in person—the disturbance persisted until 2:30 AM when the group finally left. A hotel’s primary purpose is to provide a peaceful night’s sleep, but the thin walls and inability to address the issue meant we barely got any rest, significantly impacting the next day of our trip.

Really nice hotel and the outside hot tubs with drinks service made it better! The hotel grounds were lovely too. Very comfortable bed although the room was slightly hot. We were lucky enough to have a balcony so could open the door if it felt too warm. We would definitely stay again

Lovely Hotel room was nice good location B’fast not best plastic eggs left out too long Bacon was tainted other B’fast food just about warm not good for a £19 b’fast Be aware that if you’re booking a room only it’s £30!extra for each person to use the pool/gym etc would I stay again yes but find somewhere else for b’fast

A fabulous hotel. Exceptional reception / Restaurant staff. They couldn’t do enough for you. Great breakfast something for everyone. Upgraded to executive rooms and wasn’t disappointed. Definitely be back. Beautifully decorated for Christmas.

we liked the jacuzzi the most. we also enjoyed breakfast and Ria was very friendly. the house keepers was also accommodating. food was a little expensive. all in all very nice, thank you.

I booked a short break so i could include celebrating my birthday. I was lucky that the room i booked had a balcony. I booked an afternoon tea for my birthday which was fab. The meals in the restaurant i can't fault. I managed to book a back, neck and shoulder massage.

Lovely hotel, nice comfy bed. Even had an upgrade which was nice. The only down point was the food, I ate in The Lounge bar in the evening , wasn't impressed.
