Leasowe Castle Hotel

Room was okay - bathroom not the most user friendly - no screen which meant entire floor became wet. Towels were thick and fluffy. Bar and dinner service available. Reception staff welcoming.

Beautiful exterior and grounds. Restaurant wasnt open and we chose not to eat as the menu seemed printed at last minute and we werent too sure what to expect. Guest services very friendly Lovely place but needs a bit of money to tidy it up and give some TLC

Always nice to stay at Leasowe whether it be for pleasure or for work as it was on this occasion. Very convenient with easy access and safe parking. Nice warm welcome received as always and choice of places to eat. Feel that with a little TLC Leasowe could go back to what it once was when we first stayed, seems a little neglected and having stayed in exactly the same room this time as our last visit bathroom tap was still loose and still no plug in the basin. Not enough negatives to stop us from staying again but just feel that things need doing.

The location is good but the Hotel is in desperate need of refurbishment. It has some great character features but overall the hotel & especially rooms are very dated. The room was clean but very shabby. The walls are very thin & I could hear the guests in the next room having a conversation, walking around & even snoring. It’s the second time we’ve stopped here but I think if we visit the area again i would look for an alternative. Another thing, there was some king of Viking festival taking place on the hotel grounds which we weren’t made aware of when booking and so the place was very busy & parking was an issue.

The lift was not working and it looked like it had not been working for some time. We were told our room was on the second floor, but that turned out to be up at least 5 flights of stairs. At that point we asked to be moved and they did accommodate us. The shower did not have a door or a curtain, so when you took a shower the bathroom was soaked. Will probably not stay there again.

Taps were not working in our room and we were moved to another without any fuss. Breakfast was Ok. Very nice to have a bar on site. Would stay there again

Always enjoy staying at Leasowe Castle, beautiful setting and easy access to great walks. Spacious rooms and lovely food available in one of 2/3 rooms, chose the bar this time around.

Short of staff so we struggled to get them to serve food not in the bar which had Sky Sports. Lift out of order (rumoured for 2 years!). Lots of basic issues in bathroom, unopening windows, damp showing in many places outside our room, and clearly needs lots of investment. There was a wedding party below us - but we heard nothing and slept well in a very conformable bed. They still demanded a credit card £200 reserve 'in case of problems' even though we had paid in full in advance. It was released the next day.

Staying with 8 family members for a celebration. Lift kept breaking down and some of family have mobility issues so this was a problem, being in the 2nd floor. Our room was freezing at night window seals had gone and feeble tape put on them didn’t work. Bed’s comfortable, food was ok. Beautiful views Hotel was spotless and most of the staff were very helpful. We did report heating matter after first night but didn’t get offer of extra heating or blankets so heading home with a rotten cold!

Easily one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had. From the start the reception staff were unhelpful, the rooms were “straightened” but not clean (ex. stains on carpet). The walls are so thin that I could hear every bit of conversation happening next door (and it wasn’t anything I wanted to hear) - but the worst part was there was an event going on with music blaring so loud that I could hear it as clear as if it was in my room well past midnight. Called down to reception about the issue and their response was that it was *my* problem and they weren’t seemingly bothered to do anything about it. You could not PAY me to stay here again under any circumstances.

Stayed in room 21 looked nothing like the photos we looked at on the website . Dodgy electrics ie white wire coming out of a plug socket. So cold in the room the bed was damp . Bathroom was an ice box . Generally the room fixtures and furniture were tired and are in need of a total overhaul. I have stayed in £45 b&bs in Blackpool and Rhyl for a couple and had much nicer experiences . I will never stay here again and if I’m asked by anyone else I will tell them of my experience..

Stayed in 1999 definitely has gone down hill, greeted by taking £200 deposit for possible damages … I’ve stayed in 5* hotels that don’t take this, it sends alarm bells about the place that they feel it’s necessary to do this. For this I would expect the room to be perfect, but no, stained bedding with ink and other marks, toilet rolls holder not fixed to the wall securely, flashing light bulbs, the shower needed to be regrouted due to mould. It’s a shame as the building and surroundings are lovely as is the location. I felt on edge that they could withhold My £200 which made me uneasy throughout my stay … sadly I would not look to go back because of this.

The shower had no pressure and it took 3 hours to run the bath. The room also had damp and mould in it.

Breakfast food was terrible. Only asked for beans scrabbled egg and mushrooms. Scrambled egg was like water with shells in, beans were blasted in the microwave, stuck to the bowl and had a skin on top and mushrooms were from a tin covered in oil. In the background the track playing on the speakers in the restaurant was ‘F$ck you and your mom and your sister…” and it was half term! Disgusting!! Room was dated and needed decorating and smelt damp. Also could hear ever word that the guest was saying next door. Thought it was corridor, but the noise was from the room. Hotel guests were workmen in high viz. language choice! More of a hostel than a hotel Worst stay in ages.

Great location although a 15min drive into Liverpool centre.... Breakfast buffet was brilliant. Food delicious. Staff at breakfast were excellent..... Check in all good. Rooms a little small if I'm honest. Can be noisy at night with outside equipment running. Not all areas open which is a shame..... Decor on period but could do with some areas refurbishing

Hotel was far from full but we were given z room overlooking what we think was the kitchen roof. Extractor fan started up at 6.30am. Door was difficult to close. Lock kept sticking open. Had to use key card to reopen it. Stair carpets look like they haven't been changed in 30 years. This hotel is in my home town, where I visit often, but probably wouldn't stay here again.

Beautiful building with alot of history. Views were lovely from our room. Room was spacious, clean & had everything we needed. Shower was perfect. Restaurant was great with excellent choice, food was outstanding, staff were friendly. Only complaints we have was the bed 's' it was two singles pushed together, so uncomfortable, hardly slept at all. I would definitely return but next time ask for a double bed. Keep up the good work 👏

The hotel is a renovated castle and it looked amazing inside and outside. The bedroom was decorated beautifully and it had a great size tv. The room had a kettle and they supplied tea, coffee and biscuits. They also gave 2 bottles of water.

Beautiful setting, clean spacious room. Had everything you need, tea/coffee making facilities, toiletries, plenty of plug sockets, very large mirror. Room was huge for a standard double, even had a sofa in there. Bed was so comfortable that we missed breakfast, woke up with half an hour before checkout ha, quick shower which was great.Staff go above and beyond to make sure your stay is excellent. The guy in the bar was just the best, very friendly and we all enjoyed his company when we returned back to the hotel after we attended our function elsewhere, nothing was too much trouble ( can’t remember his name though sorry) We enjoyed an excellent meal before we left to our function too. Overall all round excellent and definitely be staying again. ( considering having our wedding there) Only downside was how cold it was in our room when we arrived but there was a heater put in there which we had to leave on all night to heat such a large room and the bedding was so nice and thick that you soon warmed up in bed so not really that big of an issue. Looking forward to returning. Thankyou to everyone at leaslow castle for having us .

Charged a £200 room deposit. On check in told it was for “incidentals” but they were charged separately. Still not refunded. Will never use again.

Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. 10/10 for hospitality and customer service.

Check-in process took over 15 minutes, after leaving all details when booked. One meal in the bar/restaurant had to be returned, staff in the restaurant/bar were very attentive and dealt with the problem, not too sure who was cooking the food! Window in room wouldn’t close properly and caused a draft and made room very cold, especially when heating went off at 11pm, I was promised a room voucher as compensation however wasn’t upheld. If wasn’t for these few issues was a nice hotel….

I already explained the poor service I received on arrival. Although the manager listened to my complaint the following morning, I never received an apology for the lack of respect I received when I checked in the night before or for having to stay overnight in a dirty room or the lift not working. No courtesy at all. This hotel just want large wedding parties. They made it clear but their terrible attitude that they don’t care about repeat service from independent travellers. Very short-sighted.

Awesome building.. cool history.. and beautiful surroundings. Felt a bit weird checking in though.. they require passports of all guests and take photocopies of them out the back room.. and they also require a £200 deposit which takes a few days to be returned. That's considerably more of a deposit than I've encountered elsewhere on my travels and wasn't told why it was so high.. except that it's all in the T&C's on booking. Guess they've had some pretty lousy guests in the past. The building is also ridiculously hot in winter with heating on full blast. Oh and the breakfast wasn't great but the dude serving was lovely. Despite it's faults I would stay here again because it's a castle and it's cool AF.

Our room was fine, but the service was awful (except for the barman). We had an evening meal and when it came to ordering our dessert we were advised that we couldn’t have any as the chef had decided to close the kitchen and go home before we had finished!! So completely ruined our evening out. Will not be going back there!!!

The hotel is OK for the price but when I returned to the hotel on Thursday evening around 11pm the front door had been locked with a key. There was no way to open the door and nobody was on duty. I rang the bell and went through to a voicemail! Luckily there was a Prom event on and I managed to get into the hotel through their private party and walk through the restaurant. I raised the question the next day and was told that the door should not have been locked.

No hot water for shower in the morning. Had to wait for a long time at check in desk before anyone appeared to check me in.

Fantastic quite night clean and sea view

This was a wonderful location with access to an amazing beach nearby. We only stayed one night but would loved to have stayed longer.

Firstly, The Wirral exceeded my expectations, so in good mood upon arrival. The location has a panoramic aspect, being on the north west shoreline. The Leasowe is full of character and history, initially a C16 castle. Visit especially the elegant panelled lounge, with a delightful moulded ceiling. My room was comfortable, clean and tastefully decorated. Bathroom well appointed. The renovation of the hotel had not cut corners. My dinner was a well done fish and chips, following a sticky barbecue chicken legs (a bit too sticky for me). The service was kind and professional. There were a couple of cliches with my bill, but these were sorted without fuss. I would definitely stay again (and revisit The Wirral and its friendly folk). Oh! And The Leasowe is good value for money.

Hotel itself is nice lovely room etc just a few issues we had during our stay. Firstly the room was set to what felt like 40 degrees it was unnecessarily hot in there. Secondly the breakfast this is where it majorly fell down. The food was bland and dry and my partners sausage was pink in the middle and the hotel receptionist didn’t seem to know what to say about it at checkout just told us to email him a picture of it and that was it not even an apology.

So much potential spoiled by greed and lazy management. Rip off bar prices, crap menu, no restaurant during the week and £12 for a rubbish breakfast!. I spoke to two other contractors during my visit, each with the same view. We don't drink in the bar because its too expensive, we don’t eat in the restaurant because its too limited, we don’t add breakfast because £12 is a rip off. Between us we were responsible for several room bookings and none of us will go back unless it is the last place available.

Very limited menu, admittedly very common these days, but no vegetarian options. 14 minutes to city centre parking. No usb charging point. View from room 1004 great. Don’t like to shower in the bath.

Great staff. Restaurant on the property served great food. Would have preferred air conditioning in the room, but I’m always hot. Overall a good experience. Try the green hut down the road for some great fish!

On checking in we found the hotel had received a zero hygiene rating in August 2024 and it was still in place when we stayed Oct 2024 (we checked on the government website to make sure what we were told by another customer was true, it was,I have screenshots of the review and their very serious concerns) We intended to eat at the hotel but was not willing to risk so had to travel some distance for food including breakfast.

We had a very disappointing pub meal at the Wreckers Pub, it was not busy, the menu was so limited and when the meal came, it was cold, overcooked and totally unacceptable for the prices charged. The accommodation itself was adequate.

This Hotel seriously needs a revamp, it could be a beautiful hotel, but it is very dated and lots of things made it look very cheap, horrible plastic flowers, plastic chains and horrendous wallpaper. Our room was very hot, which spoilt our sleep. On the plus side the two men on reception were very nice, but the £200 deposit was very steep and the breakfast was awful. It’s such a shame because it’s a lovely grand building that could be so much more.

My first impressions were wow! Loved everything about it & no complaints. Unfortunately this all changed at breakfast! VERY short staffed! The staff who were on were Sue & Mark Ming who both deserve a mention-outstanding given that they had to cope with everything on their own & were running around trying their best topping up the coffee/toast/ etc, clearing & relaying tables, taking orders, serving etc. Because of this breakfast turned into brunch which for some of the other guests meant wasted time as they had plans in Liverpool as they were staying there on Sunday night. The breakfast cost £12 pp so £24 for my partner to pay which is A LOT & we wished we hadn’t been up sold when checking in I have rung twice to ask to speak to the Manager but he is never available. The receptionists are also lovely-especially the one from South Africa. As it had now been a whole month since our stay & he hasn’t acknowledged my complaint I have no option to write a negative review. Amanda Norton

The staff was very attentive but the lift didn’t work and although they helped with my luggage, as I was at the top of the turret I just stayed there to avoid going up and down several sets of stairs. Breakfast, again the stuff and room was lovely but the breakfast had a VERY poor choice for £12. Only 1 egg? No granola or breakfast fruit such as melon, pineapple, etc no breakfast pastries etc. very odd and poor spread.
