Holiday Inn Peterborough West by IHG

The staff truly make you feel welcome. The reception staff, housekeeping and restaurant personnel were all very pleasant and genuinely seemed interested to ensure our stay was memorable. The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. The shower pressure wasn’t the best but adequate. The buffet breakfast was excellent and requesting vegetarian sausages was no problem and supplied in no time. However I was not a fan of the overnight parking charge for residing guests. I was equally disappointed the steam room was not in use during our stay.

Hi, place is very nice and clean But very expensive drinks very expensive food expensive and to pay £15 your car in the car park I think it’s just wrong

Hotel is very big with lots of parking and some great service. In our room the air con wasn't working but the staff provided fans and complimentary drinks. It would be great to have more electric car chargers on site as there were times cars were occupying the 1 terminal.

Thank you for giving me an early check-in and the first girl on reception was friendly. The pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi were fabulous, as was the guy working there. Unfortunately the bed was really uncomfortable, I’d upgraded to a king as a treat and it was clearly 2 single beds clipped together with very different firmness. Also, I went down to breakfast quite last minute, but still within the time, and got a really rude “welcome” from the man on duty he raised his eyebrows, rolled his eyes tapped his watch and said “breakfast is over” with zero humour, which is especially unnecessary as it’s a buffet set up and a self service coffee machine, so I was serving myself and not asking for extras. And then the staff were loudly clearing up around those of us finishing our breakfast which was poor, we are still paying guests after all! Also there was mould on the toasting bread. I also didn’t receive the request for feedback until some 5 hours after I’d checked out and you asked me to please give it before checking out?!

Great, hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. Leisure centre was a brilliant touch during our stay. Would definitely recommend it.

The room was well sized and felt comfy. However, although clean it needed some TLC. There were a few, what looked like cig burns, in the net curtains, dirty marks on base of bed and paint missing on base of bathroom door. The coffee sachets provided were mostly solid; so suggest housekeeping needs a rejuve. On plus side reception was very friendly and polite and the breakfast had a wide range and variety of hot and cold options plus the breakfast service staff member was attentive keeping the stock refreshed and tables clean - worth the money. Cannot comment on grounds, although parking charge has been lowered from £15 to £5 per night this reduction had not been mentioned in the welcome email Overall: For the price it was a good place to stay. I was little annoyed that the parking charges were not shown in the daily cost of booking/staying as it seemed like a hidden charge - and alternative parking is not really viable within the area particularly as my wife is disabled

The AC in the room just pumped out hot air. Toilet in the room only flushed once per hour. Swimming pool was out of action the whole week.

£15 a day for carpark. Holiday Inn hidden with signature of IHG. Small and dirty swimming pool. Old machines and old fitness areas.

Very polite and friendly staff. £15.00 to park at the hotel which I did not see advertised when I booked the room. The tv did not work in our room.

The hotel was welcoming with Christmas decorations. There was a pool, gym, sauna and steam room. Sea bass for dinner. I told them the room was too hot and I couldn’t turn the radiator down. Next day radiator was off and there was a big fan in my room! A very good value place to stay if you need to spend time in Peterborough.

Our room was very clean. Check in was very smooth. You have to register your vehicle at check in to get parking. I myself am coeliac ,and the staff in the resteraunt were absolutely brilliant. They went out of there way to give me all my gluten free food for breakfast. Will definitely be staying there when I need somewhere to stay in that area .

Very average place and a bit tired looking in places. Our bed offered very poor support. Sound proofing was dreadful. The food was a ridiculous price. Our £17 pizza wasn't even cooked properly but when we we asked if it was ok, it was replaced after a long wait by another one that was atleast hot, rather than luke warm. We were also given a free drink for the inconvenience which was appreciated. The sausages and bacon at breakfast were poorly cooked. The sausages were like leather as they had been standing for so long. The bacon was all undercooked. We stayed at a Days Inn the night before and the room was much bigger and more comfortable.

Second time I visited. First was very comfortable but this time I was put in a room that was pretty noisy at the front. No double glazing and gaps in the windows meant I felt a draft all night. The air con did not work to warm up. I won’t be visiting again. For the price, it lacks the comfort of 4 star and the value for money.

Having stayed here before, was disappointed to have to pay £15 this time for parking even as a hotel guest. Was disturbed at 6am by the noise of air-conditioning above swimming pool..not able to get back to sleep. Despite soundproof on details. Unfortunately will be choosing elsewhere next time.

Lovely trip. Sadly we were woken by an early morning delivery 7 am just below our window.

Asked for a double bed I got 2 singles stuck together and ended up with back ache due to rolling into the middle through the night.

Have stayed in many holiday inns which have always been comfortable. This on the face if it was no different. However the window in the room was a singlepane sliding window in a metal frame which provided very little insulation. In the morning the window had condensation. dripping off it soaking the net curtains. Found the beds to be hard and pillows both soft and firm to be uncomfortable. Was reporterld to management who made the right noises but thats all. Stayed 1 night but will not be staying again. For the £140 for 1x night we expected better. Food and staff were ok though and rest of hotel clean and comfortable

Well received on arrival for a 3 night stay. The staff were very helpful (Lily in particular). The room was not of a great standard - toilet flush system was not working properly and the a/c was faulty causing the temperature to be uncomfortably hot.

Staff was great and very helpful, friendly and professional. The breakfast was a good spread. I struggled with not having a fridge in one of the two rooms I booked. It was not very clear when I booked the room that it would not have a fridge. The staff helpfully explained that these rooms are reserved for diamond members and only if they are available. Perhaps Holiday Inn can rethink the policy or Expedia can make it clearer on the site if a fridge is available or not. Asides from this inconvenience, I loved staying here and will cravenly return..

Great staff, excellent location as we were exploring the area and access to driving routes was right on our doorstep - we were surprised this didn’t bring additional noise which was a bonus. Overall a great base and one we would happily return to.

When booking the hotel, i made contact with the property to ensure i had booked an accessible room, which was confirmed that i did. I received several emails prior to arrival "offering room upgrade" for further payment. However, upon check in i was not allocated an accessible room, reception staff were too busy trying to recruit me to their rewards program, and collect parking charge of £15.00 per night, which was not mentioned when i booked, or in the many emails to upgrade my room i received. Thankfully my arthritis was not too bad, so climbing into the bath for daily showers was not an issue on this occasion, and because this trip was to undertake family get togethers across the weekend, i did not cause a fuss. There was major roadworks on going outside of the hotel, which restricted access and egress routes to the property. None of this was communicated either. Thankfully family alerted me to this issue, and because i visit the area frequently, i knew the diversion i needed to make. This was not mentioned by the property ahead of my arrival. Upon checking out, the reception staff did not even engage in a conversation to ask how my stay was. I have previously stayed at this property some time ago, (prior to parking charges being in place), but this recent experience will not encourage me to rush back.

I had to walk 15 minutes from the bus but the area is so beautiful and peaceful I didn't mind. Staff very polite and helpful. Rooms and public areas clean. In general I love this place and if I'll be again in Peterborough I will certainly book a room here again.

Great location with both woods and some decent talking routes nearby. Plenty of onsite free parking and great choice of foods on the breakfast buffet. Staff very courteous and happy to help solve any issues/answer our questions. The reason for raiting the property condition and facilities only 3* was due to the constant problems we had withour room's door locks. The first room we were assigned the lock completely died after just leaving and entering the room once, and so we were moved to another room and they apologised by compensating us with a couple of freek drinks vouchers. However the problems continued in our new room and on at least three occasions during our 3 night stay we had to get the front desk staff to recharge our room's keycard.

We planned an impromptu 1 night stay on friday 28th March. Hotel was arrival was eventful as the access road is closed and thr diversion signs are completely wrong, taking you back into the centre of Peterborough. Once we ignored these the hotel was welcoming although the carpark signs indicate there will be a charge - which thrte was not. Our room was clean and well appointed, however appeared a little tired. The bath drain was slow as it was blocked with hair. There is a noisy extraction fan in the bathroom that could not be turned off. Very limited milks in the tea and coffee (two) so i had to go to reception to ask for more. No biscuits were provided. Walking from the hotel is not recommended due to the lack of street lighting. Breakfast was probably the best i have ever tasted. Poached eggs (perfectly cooked) were excellent. The porridge was water based - not recommended The worst part of the morning was when we visited the health spar. There were 4 other guests in the pool who felt they were intitled to prevent anyone else from using the facilities. They complained we had not showered before entering 'their' pool. We had showered in our room. My hair was still wet when i entered. I was physically assaulted as i swam and my wife was verbally insulted and told that the pool was full and she should leave. We complained to health spar management who indicated they would 'have a word' - not aware of what happened Overall experience spoiled a good weekend.

Everything was really good but we did think the restaurant food was overpriced. Unfortunately, on checking out we realised that we had been charged twice for our food and drink. It was dealt with by the receptionist immediately on pointing this out but it should have been noted at the time of the making up of our invoice. Also the lift was out of order for most of our stay.

No towels in room said they dont do them kindly gave us a robe each which was good but not having towels in room is a 1st. Bathroom needs updating only negative . Really lovely place breakfast lots of choice and tasty . Staff all very pleasant .

Despite a large function going on we had a nice meal in the restaurant. Bar drinks were very expensive (£25 for two doubles and mixers). Service was very good - room was comfortable. Shower wasn’t very powerful but was hot. Health club usage was a bonus with a decent pool and gym. Great value for money overall.

The hotel was generally satisfactory. Bathrooms long overdue an overhaul. Restaurant was just about adequate although the breakfast was awful and inedible and wouldnt have fed it to our dog.

A nice spacious hotel, staff were friendly and polite. A great breakfast with plenty of options. Only thing that I was disappointed with was the lack of Disabled parking bays near the entrance to the reception area. I noticed only 1 car displayed a blue badge in the disabled bays so this wasn't being monitored.
