Great location, very friendly staff, delicious breakfast, functional gym. They made us wait until exactly 2pm to check in, but in fairness, they were completely full and have us spa access since our second room wasn't ready. Breakfast each day was fresh and delicious. Bora was so friendly, she even came outside to show me how to work the parking meters. That's going above and beyond in my opinion. You can walk to everything in downtown Reykjavik. Lots of restaurant choices. The gym was functional so better than nothing and you can get a solid workout in with dumbbells. One of our rooms was very spacious and new, the other was on the smaller side and a little dated but both were very clean. Great hotel.

We stayed 10 days here. The staff was INCREDIBLE! Friendly...accommodating.. Clean. Macarons in our room at check in.. Such a nice surprise. Breakfast was the same every day..got a bit tired of scrambled eggs..lol. Could use a waffles station. Bar and happy hour offered. Warm soaking pool available.. Message table available for a fee. Taxi services available from the front desk. This hotel is only a 2 minute walk from the #3 bus stop. Very conveniently located. I would definitely stay here again!

Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Check in a breeze. The room faced a side street which had no traffic noise from cars but you could hear people yelling, talking loud and laughing at night on the main thoroughfare a block away. Our room was clean and comfortable with the bed and the pillows just to our liking. We still slept well. The hotel location was excellent and we could walk to many places in Reykjavik. Parking was a learning curve for us. We choose to pick up our vehicle at Keflavík airport and drive to Reykjavik. I had previously downloaded an app for parking in Iceland. The first night we were able to park in front of the hotel which was designated a P1 (the most expensive space). The next day we found a parking lot at the cathedral, a P2. Not exactly close to our hotel - no going back if you left something in the car. After a couple of days of fumbling around, we got the hang of parking in Reykjavik and using the parking app. We enjoyed our 4 night stay at this hotel. Every morning we started our day with a hardy breakfast. Food was excellent. My husband could have his typical Midwest fare of eggs, bacon and toast. I preferred the Nordic yogurt, honey and muesli. All very good.! We also took advantage of the spa and sauna. These were located downstairs and included two changing rooms and showers for men and women. The spa is worth seeing even if you don’t take a soak.

The hotel is in a great location! Most tourist sites are an easy walk from this location. The modern styling is nice and the rooms are small, but functionally designed. The spa hot tub and sauna are nice after a long day.

We loved the location of the hotel, the staff are very helpful and friendly, the breakfast is wonderful. Our only disappointment was that the spa and gym facility were closed.

Beautiful spa is a highlight of this property. Option for early breakfast take-away if needed.

Fabulous hotel in the center of the city, giving you immediate walking access to everything Reykjavik has to offer. Beautiful motif and decor, with a nice restaurant/bar and a lot of very comfortable lounge furniture for relaxing and socializing. Room was very clean and comfortable and the staff was super helpful with airport transportation coordination and street parking options. This is perhaps the best hotel experience of the five we stayed in on our week-long trip. I highly recommend this super hotel.

I liked the cleanliness of the room the size and the friendly helpful staff also the breakfast was nutritious. There was a good range of food available.

Clean hotel with extremely nice and helpful staff. Great location to shopping and restaurants. Most tours picked up at Bus Stop 3 which was only a 2-3 walk from our hotel.

Didn’t clean my room once. didn’t have an ironing board. bad food in morning. unhelpful staff, will not return and will not recommend to my company.

Room flooded

Clean, quiet, friendly staff, comfortable bed. Even had a fan in the room to deal with unusually warm weather.

Unfortunately the room was very cramped with not enough space for two pieces of luggage to be opened. Additionally the bathtub was chipped and dirty.

The staff seemed okay. The room was crowded and hard to move around for me. I banged my head on the tv multiple times as it stuck out from the wall at an odd angle. The most worrisome thing is that the bathtub had black mold around the edges. I was concerned about that. The room I had was a nice corner room with a good view but it was close to housekeeping so I heard noises early in the morning (and I am hard of hearing). I was surprised they didn't offer free water bottles to guest like other hotels often do. I was underwhelmed by the hotel.

Overall I would definitely stay here again Pros: I foound the breakfast quality was higher than a lot of the hotel breakfast buffets I've had, size/variety wasn't the biggest but decent and something for everyone (sausage/scrambled egg/hash browns/beans/bacon, fruit, pastries, bread, ham and cheese, porridge and a selection of toppings, herring, water, juice, tea & coffee and more that I don't remember) but same selection daily Rooms were clean and comfortable Staff were all friendly and helpful Cons: Shower layout gets half the bathroom floor wet for every shower Very little privacy in room toilets, frosted glass walls with a foot or so of clear glass at top and bottom, so you can hear everything from the bed My partner was less impressed with breakfast selection and quality. Fruit was a bit dried out, bananas pre-cut into thirds so had gone brown Spa/lounge/breakfast room was closed for rennovation while I was there with zero notice until check-in and meant we had to book breakfast slots every day due to limited space, extra noise in the mornings and afternoons audible from the room and temp breakfast/lounge area, and no downstairs toilets, and nothing offered in return. Works were finished by the time we left.

The beds are not comfortable and worse only afoot off the ground!! Very hard to get in and out if bed

I can't say enough about how great the staff were at this hotel. They were so kind and quick to help with anything, and so polite. Unfortunately, I think every boutique hotel probably has a bad room or two and that's what we got. I would only stay here again if I was guaranteed to not have a room on the main level. Our room was right by the buffet/cafe/bar and was noisy until about midnight. If we didn't have an early morning this would have been fine, but it wasn't the case this time. It also opened to a terrace where people could sit to have a drink, which was awkward wit your room right there. The door to the bathroom didn't close all the way and the frosted doors weren't very private. We went into a friend's room on the fourth floor and it was beautiful, so I really think we got the short straw on this one. Our room was not worth the cost for that reason from my perspective, but again the staff was incredible. The breakfast buffet was also incredible, I would definitely recommend it for that reason. So absolutely stay here but ask to confirm you aren't on the main floor, otherwise stay somewhere else.

Stay for 2 nights but room right above the main entrance on the 1st floor with a street lamp right outside. Quite noisy. Tv was not working properly. Lovely bathroom! Breakfast on the first day perfect but on the second day not getting topped up.

Clean room. Staff very friendly and helpful. Decent breakfast. Fantastic location. Good seating area downstairs where can sit and read/ play one of their games. We’re both quite tall so the room we were in was problematic- sloping roof above both sides of the bed to each side of room meant we both hit our bed and a lot of the space was difficult to access.

The location is perfect for wonton walking, good breakfast, staff is helpful. The hallways are very dimly lit, there’s no real way to make it cooler in the rooms and the bed was only 6 inches high off the ground making it very difficult to get in and out of bed.

The room was spacious and well laid out however, very dark. There was no main overhead light to turn on that illuminated the whole room. We had to go round and turn individual lamps on. Some of these were unplugged on arrival, so it took a while before we were even able to see the room properly. The safe was impractically small and impractically high up, so we weren't able to use it to secure a MacBook at all, despite having rang ahead to check the size - so unfortunately no use. The room was clean. The bathroom very inadequate - a tiny shower with a hanging plastic curtain, but a space so small that it became your best friend. Toiletries were provided, but very basic. The bed was comfortable but we were cold in the room on the first night, and asked for additional duvets which were provided. It was a king-size bed but you were given two individual duvets. Maybe that's the Icelandic way? Breakfast was good with a decent selection of choices. There is a very basic gym and spa. Overall a nice clean hotel in a very central location, but lacking in some basic facilities.

Loved the hotel and some of the workers there, especially the two gentlemen at the front desk. There were super attentive and would go out of their way to ensure we had what we needed. We were also booked an amazing taxi back to the airport for 8 people, plus bags and carry on bags for a flat rate. Our stay was for 9 nights!

What an amazing hotel and amazing staff. They made our honeymoon trip truly so special. The location right in downtown Reykjavík is so convenient, with so much to do within walking distance. The hotel is also very beautiful and clean. We booked the honeymoon package and they went all out, it was so awesome. All the staff was amazing but just to shout out a couple people in particular - Artur helped us out at the bar and he was so kind and great to chat with. Irene from the front desk was emailing with me ahead of time and she was so helpful and nice. I would recommend this place to anyone interested in visiting Iceland.

The breakfast was good and the serving staffs were excellent. The guy greeted us at the reception desk was very helpful. However, on the day we were leaving and asked the woman at the front desk to book two 7-passenger cars. She didnt pay attention and requested for two sedans. After several reconfirmation and 30 minutes waiting at the door, she finally said there are no 7 passengers cars anymore. She and her colleague's attitude was very poor. At the end, we ended up using several taxis, and long and behold, the last one was a 7 passenger mini van! Overall, we had good experience with the hotel, until the last day. It was ruined by these two women working at the front desk on 8/8/25.

Beware! This hotel will bump you to another hotel without any notice ahead of time. It’s a terrible experience but I had no choice but to accept the change. I travelled with a group of friends and all bookings are confirmed and they even send a welcome email reminder 2 days ahead. Regretfully, on the first day when I checked in the receptionist told me that they have no room for me in that hotel and ‘upgraded’ me to another hotel. I told them I need to stay with my friends in this hotel because the tour bus will pick us up there. They just said bluntly that there’s nothing they can do. To make long story short, they finally agreed to give me a room for the second night. So i ended up checking in to the other hotel around 9 pm for the first night, get up 6 am the next morning, packed my bags, and hustled back to Thingholt to catch my tour bus. Also, it’s not a ‘upgrade’, the other hotel room is old and stinky. It’s a chaotic and stressful experience. There’s definitely a management problem for overbooking and that is no way to treat a guest so unprofessionally with no respect.

We recently stayed at Pingholt and was delighted by your staff’s service. One individual stood out for exceptional service and that was Chris. She was very helpful, authentic and delightful. May she see her Grandfather soon and may she soon get to experience the Sky Lagoon. 5 stars!

The hotel staff especially the people at the front desk were helpful and so nice. The hotel is located in a perfect place in terms of being near the heart of the city. We would definitely stay here again.

Visiting from Las Vegas, NV./World travelers. First time visitors to Iceland. First off the staff: I told them it was my wife's birthday and they went out of their way to make her welcome special and unique. Balloons, pastries, and a hand written card wishing her a happy birthday. They made me look like the husband of the year. Cannot thank them enough. Throughout our stay their kindness and good attitude never stopped. Helpful in every capacity. Secondly, our room: We reserved the suite with the downstairs living room area. Room was very clean. Smelled good. Decor was tasteful. Slippers and robes for 2 in the closet. Has a safe and a fridge. No microwave. But that was ok. The room was very comfy and welcoming. As was the rest of the hotel. Third, Food: Breakfast buffet did not disappoint. Some people say in their reviews the description is misleading about it. I don't know what their problem is but they were either blind or so dang picky they went looking for stuff to complain about. Great taste and all freshly made that morning. Forth, Location: We were literally in the heart of everything and anything you could want to do and enjoy for food, bars, and shops. Short walks to many of the best parts of the capital or a quick can ride if it was too cold or windy. Overall: 5 stars! Hands down. A great place to stay and worth every cent. Much appreciation to the staff. Well done. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat. PS: Best part was we were blessed to see the Northern light

Great location! Literally two minute walk from the Rainbow street, shopping, restaurants, etc. clean, cozy place. Breakfast was very nice, plentiful, hot and cold items, oatmeal, fruits, pastries. Staff was welcoming although we wished they helped a little more with parking options, considering Reykjavik has quite unique parking system. We ended up parking in the parking garage Traðarkot, few minutes walk from hotel. Parka app was very helpful. Overall it was a lovely place and a pleasant visit.

The property is centrally located in city center and many of the attractions and restaurants are in walking distance and the touring bus stop is nearby.

Excellent property in a great location. Breakfast buffet was great. Walking distance to everything in Reykjavík. Can be noisy on the weekends because it is so centrally located. Meaning lots of bars and restaurants open until the wee hours of the morning. It didn’t impact our sleep, but if you’re a light sleeper it might.

The hotel was very convenient for exploring Reykjavik. The room was very small and the furnishings were a little old and worn. The breakfast buffet was pretty disappointing, especially compared to the other hotels we stayed at. The food was subpar and not a great variety.

Stop over before and after expedition. Good breakfast selection and service housekeeping great and hotel common areas kept clean all the time.

Breakfast was excellent

I was initially very concerned from all the bad reviews but feel like I got lucky. My double standard room had a big window facing the sunset, which made it feel airy and spacious. I paid for the spa use which was worth it and restorative. Breakfast was plentiful and quality, even for those with dietary restrictions. Staff was always friendly and accommodating. Generally a quiet and restful vibe here. Perfect location. Highly recommend.

Bar closed so no free drinks. No parking. All else excellent. Fantastic breakfast!
