Small and offers no more than a Premier Hotel apart from price which are much higher in the Samuel Ryder there is no commercial reason to stay again. PS: the parking of cars for guests at Samuel Ryder is stated as available this is correct but, it's a lucky draw as to whether you'll have a 5-10 min walk back to hotel!! Thankfully it wasn't raining!!!

Fabulous location! Breakfast not included and extremely expensive to have breakfast at Hotel. Would have liked a small fridge in the room. Parking a bonus but hit and miss to get the parking closest to hotel. Great stay!

Hotel is somewhat difficult to navigate if you arrive with a car. You have to navigate your way through streets One way streets. There’s no easy way to pull up in front of the hotel and unload also if you have any mobility issues the front door of the building requires the guest to climb steps manually open doors three in fact. Saint Alban‘s is a very old city and many of the building exteriors are protected. So I don’t necessarily blame the hotel for the entrance difficulties. Once you checked in the rooms are very comfortable clean and modern the bathroom was excellent. The shower was great. Going back to the car issue. They claimed to have parking which they do however, It requires the guest to park offsite, which is about a quarter of a mile away. So, Be prepared to walk a bit.

We had a great one night stay, room was lovrly, tastefully decorated, confy bed, soft fluffy towels, great tea and coffee facilities. Perfect location for the town. Reception staff were lovely. Only downside was lack of offerings in the bar, quite limited and not the friendliest response when we enquired about a certain drink.

Lovely hotel, great location, staff are great, food excellent. Rooms a bit small, but nice. Only real problem is the carpark isn't well lit, and at night it is very easy to fall into potholes (as I did) and potentially hurt yourself.

Fab central location. The bar was very small. Disabled parking spaces were ridiculously small and one car had been allowed to park there despite not displaying a blue badge. The disabled room was comfortable but there was not enough room to get around to the bed in a wheelchair.

Disappointed with our stay here. Receptionists were helpful during check in and with local information. Parking on site which is good. Room was ok pretty basic and boring considering the history of the building. Complementary tv, coffee and biscuits but a bottle of water would have been good as well. No smart TV and the HD channels were muted for some reason. So had to watch in SD. Shower was nice but had my pet hate of a build up of limescale on the nozzles so this reduces power, obviously not properly cleaned or inspected. But the biggest issue was the sleeping, bed was awful and noisy, any movement and it creaked as well as our room being next to the some sort of air conditioning shed which was directly next to our window constantly making a noise. We had little sleep. Unfortunately it was too late at night to make a change when we discovered these things after getting into bed. Left feedback at reception but no response from the management.

Hotel was okay overall. Staff were friendly. Room was not the best. Dirty bathroom with a constant sewage smell and poor drainage. Bed had hairs on it and sheets had stains, pillows smelt dirty. Would have expected better for a hotel such as this.

Not a bad hotel and definitely an interesting building. I arrived late at night so literally checked in, had shower and went to sleep. The only disappointing thing was the cleanliness of the bathroom. There was toothpaste spatter all over the blue painted wall, which is totally disgusting. Besides that though, the bed was extremely comfortable.

Lovely hotel in a great location. Really well maintained and the room was really comfortable. Breakfast was lovely too. The reception area has a really strong air freshener which I felt was over powering. Lovely scent but a little headache inducing if you ask me.

Stay was good, room very nice apart from some of the fixtures and fittings falling off walls. Toilet Roll Holder and bed side light fitting almost loose. Looks like either insufficient length screws/pooe rawplugs used or no plywood patresses in walls behind plasterboard.

Positives - staff were very helpful and ensured we had a disabled parking spot saved with cones. Negatives - decor and paintwork in rooms is quite marked/well used. It’s an old building so it’s not quiet, expect to hear the cleaners early outside the door and also floors/rooms above you, you can hear everything. This disturbed sleep at 3am for an hour, had to call reception to call the room above in the end. Overall, an ok stay but probably won’t return.

I didn’t try any of the food / drink options but the room was great. Lovely large tv and comfortable bed. A handy master switch for coming and going and very clean and spacious. From what I saw. St Albans is a lovely little city and I was very happy with my choice of hotel

We were put in a ground floor room, where we discovered the television broke up a lot and had no BBC. We reported it twice but still the same. The third day we were moved to a first floor room, where the television was perfect. It appeared that they knew the reception in that ground floor room was bad. Not impressed. We had planned to spend some time watching the Olympics on BBC, so missed two and a half days. Otherwise, all good!

Rooms not soundproofed as we noticed at 2am in the morning when the inconsiderate idiot next door decided to play music at top volume. No one was around to answer the phone call to reception and when eventually someone came he wasn’t firm at all and it took a full blown row from me before the clown turned the music down.

The hotel was really lovely inside. Almost like a tardis. The staff were so nice and nothing was too much trouble. Our room was great, and when it came to breakfast, we couldnt fault it. Plenty of choice and a waiter who was very attentive. Overall a great stay and we'll be back again in October

A really nice hotel. Friendly staff made us very welcome. We attended a Graduation ceremony at the Cathedral so the location was 100% perfect. The hotel is surrounded by decent coffee shops and restaurants - so it was the ideal location. If you have a graduation from Herts Uni next year book early as the Cathedral is just across the road!!

This hotel is very nice. The front part is Historical and is beautiful. The rooms are newly remodeled and very clean. It is within walking distance to many this and food establishments. This is such a cute little town, with a lot of History. It is a bit hilly, so your legs get a little workout. The staff was very accommodating and friendly.

A very well located hotel with great decor! Our room and bathroom was clean and fresh! A good sized twin room with enough space for 2 sharing adults. We had a good night sleep without any disturbance from traffic noise or other guests. Breakfast was plentiful and cooked well, with great vegetarian options. This hotel is right opposite the cathedral and on a high street with many restaurants and coffee shops. Thank you to the staff at reception and breakfast for a great service with a smile.

The requirement to collect a parking permit to check for spaces in the second and third car park locations was a tad tiresome after a long drive. Having the drop off point was useful as I travelled with a pensioner, but if there were several people checking in at the same time this would not work too well. Stayed two nights. On day one's breakfast we had stale croissants that the server advised were from the day before and only black coffee available in the machines. Unacceptable. Poached eggs at breakfast on day two were basically hard boiled. Had to send back. Good location for the town centre, which had lots of restaurants to choose from for dinner as well as places to go if you want some nightlife. Overall a decent enough hotel. Car parks should be monitored for available spaces and people parking appropriately in said spaces as some people parked across two spots. Reception staff were excellent.
