The Clayton was a great hotel for a trip with my daughter. Unlike other hotels I looked into, they were able to guarantee us a room with 2 twin beds. The location is so convenient with Trams right outside but also an easy walk to all the key sites. We opted for buffet breakfast that had many options and restaurant is beautiful. Gym is well equipped. All the staff are very helpful. Overall, really enjoyed our stay and highly recommend.

Absolutely loved this hotel! Stayed in an Executive Queen room and it was incredible, much larger than most of the other rooms I’ve stayed in throughout Europe. Hotel staff were super helpful, welcoming and kind! Loved having drinks at Bar American a few evenings - the fountain and street view helped to make it a perfect location. Can’t wait to return!

Major building work underway at the hotel. Very noisy from 9am each day and facade covered in scaffolding. No mention of this when booking this property on Expedia! Beds had mattress toppers which "slid off". Not comfortable at all. Not what i expected when booking a premium hotel. Very very disappointed. If had been made aware of the building works underway would have booked elsewhere.

We enjoyed our stay at Clayton Hotel, it was a great - walkable location to majority of areas within the city. The hotels lobby and exterior were under renovations when we were there (this was mentioned in the booking). Lots of hammering at 8:30AM which did wake us up but the hotel provided us with complementary breakfast to make up for this. The room was very clean, and staff was very nice. The bathrooms were okay, no conditioner in the shower but overall quite spacious. Breakfast was phenomenal, and the hotels bar was amazing. I would definitely stay there again, if there was no construction.

This was a great hotel in a great location. The only issue was that there is construction of the lobby taking place, meaning there is scaffolding/construction going on (including men outside our window around 9:30am one day), which was annoying, but had no real impact to our stay. The cleanliness, service, comfort etc were all fine, and I'd be more than happy to stay there again.

Tolles Hotel, großartige Lage, nettes Personal, die Betten sind super, die Zimmer sind sauber und haben alles was man benötigt. Im Zimmer hört man die Straßenbahn und das Rauschen vom Brunnen, hat mich aber weiter nicht gestört. Parkplätze sind nicht vorhanden, hier muss man 15 Minuten zum nächsten Parkhaus laufen. Einen Stern Abzug erfolgt weil man direkt kurz nach der Abreise bereits die ersten Spam-Emails mit Werbung/Angebote bekommt. Leider musste ich meine Emailadresse angeben und konnte ich mich nicht weigern. Das ist aber eher eine allgemeine Plage welche nicht nur dieses Hotel betrifft.

Giving hotel a bad review as the room had no bath despite the price and what I believed was included in the room. I also did not see any way to condition the temperature of the room. Further, I had a car and the hotel had zero accommodations for that, instead directing me to another hotel across the street which also had poor but not as poor accommodations. Don’t get this hotel if you have a car unless you want to add 80 euros a night to park .

Room needed attention - the carpets were dirty and no underlay . Very hard and creaky … not very welcoming . The overall decor was funky but tired . The room itself was a bit dated. The carpet had many stains. The bathroom door didn't fully shut. But the bed was comfortable, everything was clean and the terrace lovely. The hotel staff is TOP NOTCH. Efficient and kind The gym is great The bar is beautiful with delicious burgers So convenient Please don't stay here and drive up the prices I certainly will be back

Location is top. It's a historical building. Unfortunately the room was very smelly. Even when opening the windows for a while the smell would not leave. Kind of a rancid stench also in the aisle. The hotel would do good to check where the smell is from and build in scent distributors. The room was way smaller than expected because of a wired lay out while the bathroom was quite spacious. We booked last minute so most probably we overpaid a little.

Location was good but room with balcony was nothing like the Expedia image. We got a wall we had to drag an ottoman out to see over when they had several rooms with a balcony you could see from. We were the one they gave the lousy balcony to and had to complain. We then got a balcony looking at the inside rooms of the hotel and had to say no to until they upgraded us to a jr suite with limited view. We made the reservation months ago. We should’ve got a balcony with a view and not been treated through this dance to get a reasonable room. They should’ve said something that your room has a balcony that you’re not gonna be able to see through it because it’s all plaster wall or told us there is none available but to give us what they gave us and then move us around to unacceptable room and then move us around our room with a limited view was just a dance and it was ridiculous. We had to go through that but appreciate that they didn’t make an effort to upgrade our room. But that’s not good enough we should’ve got Respected enough to give us the room that was advertised on Expedia. Or told us it was gonna be otherwise.

The hotel was clean and comfortable with good facilities but the room was not insulated enough from the noise from passing trams and for 3 nights the club opposite played loud techno music till 5 and 6 am. We had trouble going to sleep and staying asleep. It was unbearable.

We contacted reception as there was extremely loud music playing from somewhere. The staff came to our room with ear plugs and said there was a function in one of their rooms until midnight but they would try to get the music turned down. This did not happen. The same happened the second night. I had made staff aware I was pregnant but they stated we had ear plugs provided. I also made staff aware of the noise when checking out but they did not comment. Also we paid for a delux room. The room itself was nice but our view was air conditioning units so I do not understand how they can state it was a deluxe room. Hotel is in a great location but I am disappointed at the lack care and compassion given when we complained

I stayed in Clayton Hotel, the exterior of the building is historic, but the inside is very modern and maintained well. I took one star off on service as the staffs at the buffet restaurant are kind of impatient, I waited 45 minutes for my omelette, after all. Think they are understaffed at the restaurant. One waitress was screaming at another one publicly when they got busy. Anyway, it’s a great stay after all

On arrival, we were directed to the check in terminal and told to scan QR code, despite us advising the two members of staff at reception that we hadn’t received this code. He still tried to get us to check in via the terminal before he finally agreed to check us in at the reception desk. Having read some reviews about the hotel whilst travelling, we discovered that the bathroom door was glass, which was a concern to us due to privacy issues etc. We queried this with the receptionist and was advised it was not possible to see in the bathroom. This was not the case and the toilet was right next to the door and was in clear view of the bed, which faced directly onto the bathroom. This was very unpleasant and caused a disturbance during the night as the whole room was lit up when using the toilet. The room itself was very dusty and there were hairs in the shower on arrival. The experience was very disappointing and we expected better from a 4 star hotel, having used a budget hotel in Amsterdam previously.

The hotel was just ok. Much better in the photos than in real life. The staff was not particularly helpful or friendly, and the dining/bar was just ok. No sound-proofing, so expect to hear a lot of street noise & other guests. It was clean and in a central location, and so for this it was fine. If you want comfort or a more unique experience though I would choose elsewhere.

We had a great stay and it was mainly due to the location and most of the staff . We could walk to many areas and also well connected to transportation. In general we were welcomed with a friendly smile and very helpful staff. I would normally give 5 stars for service except for the fact that the some of the staff at breakfast from Tuesday till our departure on Friday seemed unhappy and at times. One was even banging the covering for the buffet and coffee station. It’s was very off putting. Specially since it seemed he was unhappy about being asked for milk.

We feel we were short changed twice by Clayton American. On the Expedia web site we booked an Executive Double room with 315 sq ft of space having stayed in one of these rooms on 3 previous occasions. However, on reaching our room (545) it was 215sq ft looking out at a workman’s shed. I suggested refunding the difference since room was fine, but accepted a complementary evening meal instead. However this was spoilt by a badly cooked steak and we were not charged by the restaurant (who were unaware of the complementary meal offer) because of this. However, this was treated as our complimentary meal on our departure with no recognition of the recompense for a smaller room. After 5 stays in this hotel over 6 or 7 years, sadly, we will not return. We suggest Expedia adjust the room descriptions to prevent other guests suffering smaller rooms than that booked/advertised. The staff in the restaurant and greeting guests on reception/ concierge were lovely.

Location of this hotel was great and convinence. Bus stop is just around the corner from the hotel which drop off and take you directly to the airport. Bus number 397, €3.5 one way. 15 mins walk to the central with a lot of shops and view along the way. Facilities and service by staff are excellent. Highly recommended.

The perfect location for most of the must see attractions in the city. Tram and taxis right outside and many restaurant options within walking distance. One area for improvement is changing up the breakfast buffet food options once in a while. Not everyone wants an egg every morning.

Centrally located. Transportation easily accessible. Near shops and dining. Walkable to major attractions. Hotel lobby very attractive and the rooms nicely laid out with good amenities. The staff were all exceptional- perfect ! …except for the restaurant where they could barely be bothered to seat us and throw a menu at us- we left as there are many good options close by. Bar had good service tho. Walls are thin so noise does travel but staff were highly responsive in dealing with excessive noise quickly and diplomatically. Highly recommend this property!
