Beautiful property, staff great and helpful, location excellent. Highly recommend this hotel. Our room was a great size - I did notice that some of the rooms were smaller so just be aware of that and consider it when making your reservation. There is a small, but adequate gym, which was also great. They do not serve dinner, per se, but there is a good "bar menu" that is great for light fare. I recommend this hotel and I will stay there when I return to Amaterdam

Gorgeous, charming boutique property. The decor - surrounded by greens, blues, crystals, flowers, mirrors - is magical. Reminiscent of Venice, but rooms here are larger with both bath and shower. We did not have a canal view (hotel fronts a canal) but we had black-out curtains and wonderful sleep-ins. Except for construction ruckus. Mid-morning x 2. Vent work? Had to be done but happened to occur when we had been up all night with husband’s gastroenteritis and into the recovery day. The hotel has a wonderful bar, but no dinner. Area had plenty of options. Minus the construction, would be 4.5.

This hotel is perfectly located in the heart of Amsterdam. Our ground floor room was breathtaking and spacious, with a huge chandelier and 15 foot ceilings. The staff were great and the hotel has a bar that's open 24/7.

This is a gorgeous property in a great location. The common areas and room were decorated beautifully with a lot of thoughtful details. The gym was small but did the job. It was very convenient to be able to bathe our toddler in the jacuzzi tub and the breakfast was high quality.

The pros: The location was nice. The drinks/snacks area was lovely. The hotel was pretty. The room was comfortable. We weren’t cramped. The bellhops were on top of things. The cons: It was NOISY. They need soundproofing between floors. It sounded like elephants anytime someone walked above us. The hallway smelled like skunk (weed) constantly. Smoke filtered in through closed windows. The bathroom wasn’t clean. (I eventually cleaned a few things on day 3.) Which led to management starting an attempt to make it right but never followed through with it. (Asked if we wanted to change rooms as we were walking out to catch a train and said we needed to do it in the next hour. Then they never mentioned anything again.) The key. You had to turn it in anytime you left and then usually wait to get it when you came back. I just want to go to my room without having to wait often upwards of 2-5 minutes each time I come back. One time we were given another room’s key. Oops. Would I stay here again? I’m not sure but leaning towards no. Fix the noise and key issues (not sure the skunk smell can be fixed anywhere in Amsterdam), and I’d change it to a yes.

The hotel is beautiful and very unique. This is our second time staying here and there really is something quite magical about this place at this time of year. The communal areas and the rooms are all spotlessly clean, we really like that there are complimentary drinks and treats available for you to enjoy. The staff are all friendly and helpful. The only reason why I’ve not given 5 stars is because the beds are quite firm, which I know is personal preference and despite them adding an additional mattress topper, I still didn’t sleep that well. The main stairwell was also out of use for some reason which meant we had to use the very slow and small lift and in parts of the hotel there was a sewage smell like there was a blocked drain or something, we smelled this both in the lounge area and in the bathroom which was quite unpleasant. I would say these are small things that can easily be resolved and compared to all the many wonderful things about this hotel it didn’t stop our enjoyment of the place and we would definitely visit again.

Stayed at the property for 4 nights (rm.302) in Feb. 2024 for our 30th anniversary. Oh my! The room was stinky and smelled of smoke so bad that we weren’t able to get rid of headaches while in the room despite our attempts to air it out. Everything from towels to bed linens, curtains to carpet stunk of smoke and the air in the room was stuffy and unbearable. Service was an experience of its own. Although breakfast was good, you were limited in time you can enjoy it to a ridiculous time slot that staff polices mercilessly. You get no “Good Morning” or “How are you?” just a “Do you have a reservation?” even if the place is empty. We had to carry dirty dishes back to the kitchen as there was no one to collect them and they piled over on the tiny table we dined on. We had breakfast 3x and the experience was the same every day. Quite disappointing! Will not recommend.

This hotel is stunning. The decor is positively opulent and the rooms are quite comfortable. The location is perfect for exploring the city on foot or public transit. The only downside is the rooms are not sound proof, so it is possible to hear your neighbors if they get a little loud. Overall a great stay.

We upgraded to a canal view room which was still a rather cozy space. It was designed to maximize that space and create a beautifully decorated elegant retreat. We watched the canal from 3 quaint windows that fully opened. The king bed was very comfortable. The shower was a great size with 2 rain shower sprays. There was even an iron plus board which I always appreciate. Two elevators are available in this lovely old building as well as common sitting areas, a library and free coffee,tea,lemonade and snacks throughout the day.We enjoyed a free drink at the bar but did not have breakfast. The staff service is traditional. We were escorted to our room and given a tour of its offerings. All staff were very helpful. Our room and all other areas were very clean. The location was great. Next time we are in Amsterdam we will stay here again.

Great location, very good service and very nice room. However we where on a first floor and the room was very noisy at night/early morning which was unpleasant for a good sleep. Garbage truck passed around 6:30/7am each day!

This is defiantly what you would call a unique boutique hotel. The room uniquely decorated, was small but had a comfortable bed. We had a nice view of the canal from our window. Snacks and tea/water were available in the lobby. My wife loved the house cats. The location was centrally located in a quiet part of Amsterdam. The location provided an easy walk to the Van Gogh museum & Rijksmuseum. I would stay here again.

This was a really nice 5-night stay at Hotel Estheréa for its walkable location to other parts of the the central city. The rooms were impeccably cleaned and restocked each day. The entire decor of the hotel felt like a work of art, and the lazy cats in the middle of the walkway were a big hit. Unfortunately I did experience one of the rudest hotel staff members I’ve ever come across so I need to downgrade the staff rating significantly. My partner and I were both floored by this particular hotel staff member’s attitude, but our interactions with pretty much everyone else was pleasant and prompt.

It’s not a normal key card — it’s attached to a heavy decorative keychain, and they require you to leave and pick it up every time you exit or return to the hotel, with no option for a simple card. Hotel Estherea is in an EXCELLENT location with many attractions and outstanding dining options all within easy walking distance. The facility is very clean and well-maintained (though the rooms are typically small and quirky as many European hotels of this vintage are). My big concern (and disappointment) was the level of service for a hotel in this price range and star rating. We carried our luggage up and down the stairs into the hotel on both arrival and departure - no evidence of bell personnel. We also were responsible for getting our luggage up to our 4th floor room and back down again when we were leaving. This is a nice hotel and a good location. The rooms were a good size for Europe. The only thing that I found kind of sketchy is they have you leave the key at the front desk when you go out it is a card key, but it is on a huge tassel that is heavy so it doesn’t make sense to carry it. The part I didn’t like was whenever we showed up we just asked for a room key and they gave it to us. They didn’t check our name on the reservation or something so I was single women traveling. Hotel Estheréa was an oasis in Amsterdam! The lobby and sitting area was relaxing and had delicious flavored water and coffee available at all times. My room was beautiful and had a view of the canal! The bar was lovely and all the staff were very helpful! The location can’t be beat. There are amazing restaurants and bars just around the corner and the canal area was beautiful to walk around!

Gorgeous, charming boutique property. The decor - surrounded by greens, blues, crystals, flowers, mirrors - is magical. Reminiscent of Venice, but rooms here are larger with both bath and shower. We did not have a canal view (hotel fronts a canal) but we had black-out curtains and wonderful sleep-ins. Except for construction ruckus. Mid-morning x 2. Vent work? Had to be done but happened to occur when we had been up all night with husband’s gastroenteritis and into the recovery day. The hotel has a wonderful bar, but no dinner. Area had plenty of options. Minus the construction, would be 4.5.

Great stay from start to finish! The hotel is fabulously presented. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was a good size and in excellent condition and quiet. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. Tea and coffee on tap in the lobby was a welcome treat. The location was great for walking access to everything we chose to do.

We really liked this hotel. It’s in a great spot, and it’s super cute. Loved the free coffee, water and goodies in the blue room, and just the overall look of the hotel inside. Our room was adorable - the only thing we didn’t like was the toilet. Appreciate it being separate from the bathroom itself, but I don’t know how someone tall goes to the bathroom in that tiny thing. The breakfast was just ok - I saw reviews raving about it but I don’t get why. I wouldn’t spend the money on that again, but I’d definitely stay at this hotel again if i were to get back to Amsterdam.

Our room was a great size - I did notice that some of the rooms were smaller so just be aware of that and consider it when making your reservation. There is a small, but adequate gym, which was also great. They do not serve dinner, per se, but there is a good "bar menu" that is great for light fare. I recommend this hotel and I will stay there when I return to Amaterdam

Amazing, Instagram-worthy property. Everything is themed and very aesthetically pleasing. Great attention to detail. The location is amazing, within walking distance from many great tourist spots. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were whimsical and had a ton of amenities. The breakfast buffet was affordable (and free for kids) and had a wide variety of options. The kids also got gifts at breakfast, which they loved of course. We had a great stay and will definitely come again!
