The staff was very friendly and tried to meet our needs. They even helped us out by taken out an old portable air conditioner. Breakfast was good, you get a choice of continental only or add on for a cooked full English breakfast. Unfortunately the heatwave was too much. Without AC, we couldn't stay for 2 nights as planned. The place was dated and needed a make over. However, if you're here for a quick stopover, it works. Just not during a heatwave.

I was disappointed, it felt like I was stepping back into the 1970s, with a scruffy room, paint on windows from redecorating and damaged fittings in the bathroom. Roof panels were missing in the corridor and there was a feeling of the place being poorly maintained. I always strip my bed in the morning when staying in hotels - when I did this I found the duvet was in very poor condition, torn and falling apart. The bed was uncomfortable, with a feeling hat springs are broken. The continental breakfast was poor, he croissants were a few days old and stale and despite there being a coffee machine behind the bar, the only coffee available was instant, in a tin beside the hot water. I was in the bar in the evening, the seats were very worn out and uncomfortable, a number of the on-tap beers weren’t available and there were issues with taking card payments.
