This is one of those hotels that will leave you breathless in it’s beauty and surroundings, and it will be one of those special hotels that you will be pleased you stayed at, as well as, look back with fond memories. Everything is top notch, exquisitely detailed, and well thought out in a peaceful garden surroundings. You will be transferred away into a Zen like state of mind and body. This hotel has seen its best days. It’s tired and desperately in need of a refresh. The charming old work decor is tacky and out dated. The staff were so nice but often lack competence. E’g bringing room service but forgetting the cutlery. At these prices everything should be first class. The pool and garden are fabulous. A perfect oasis. There is nothing nearby to eat or go out. You’ll need a taxi. The food was also very disappointing. Very poor standard considering their target market.

This hotel is what it claims to be. Its gardens are beautiful, the buildings are historic and in excellent condition. The food is good and plentiful. We rented a suite, and the view from our suite was outstanding, as it was on the fourth (European 4th, American 5th) floor. The staff was accommodating and friendly, and otherwise unobtrusive.

Times are difficult; but I had always wanted to go to Israel. A wedding in Tel Aviv finally gave us a reason. Not only was Jerusalem a must, but also the famous American Colony Hotel. The reception was friendly and exceptionally helpful. The kind gentleman there immediately helped us book two tours in Jerusalem. It was already late, but the bar was still open, and you could sit in a beautiful courtyard under palm trees. There were delicious salads with feta, hummus, and BBQ, along with a wide selection of international wines and cocktails; the waiter—both waiters—were very friendly. Just a few minutes in this hotel makes you feel well taken care of. (If you don’t arrive at 11 p.m. but a bit earlier, one or two other restaurants are still open.) We liked it so much there that we were already looking forward to going back the next evening. The rooms are large and spacious, clean, and equipped with everything you need. You sleep very well. And the next morning, there’s a breakfast buffet that also leaves nothing to be desired. Its reputation is well-deserved; it’s a perfect hotel. One of the most beautiful I’ve ever stayed in. Upon checking out, we immediately said we’d be back. Thank you very much for the excellent service.

This place is impeccable from the service to the food to the historical relevance and decor. Youssef the concierge was professional and accommodating (and patient!) from the first email and Imad in the Courtyard restaurant was as well. The shops on site are top notch and oooohhh the food!!! This is our 2nd time in this hotel and probably will be the last!!! Worst service ever! At the check out day they ask as to leave the pool since we "no longer have a room in the hotel" Worst experience ever
