Staying at the Grand Hotel National was one of the best stays I’ve ever had at any hotel. Truly a 5 star experience! From the moment we set foot at the hotel, we were treated with kindness. The hotel and our room were designed beautifully and everything was comfortable and kept up very well. Our room had a beautiful view of Lake Lucerne and we were given everything we needed for our stay. We dined at a few of the restaurants on site and they were wonderful. The best part was starting our mornings off in the indoor pool and sauna! Roman and the rest of the staff throughout the hotel were all so professional and friendly. I cannot recommend this hotel enough!

Beautiful 'stately' hotel, right on lakefront walking path, walkable from train station (about 1km on flat terrain), many restaurants, bakeries and food options (including grocery stores) nearby, easy access to 'old' town and tourist sites, great pool/sauna with outdoor lounging balcony, friendly/helpful staff.

The staff was very generous and nice to work with! If you are traveling from the states, make sure to ask for extra pillows as our were quite flat and the bed was lumpy. The pool, sauna, and location were worth paying for, but the room was very small overall.

Das Hotel war sehr schön und auch der Balkon war gross. Es hat uns sehr gut gefallen, das Bad war gross und es hatte eine Dusche bd eine Badewanne. Der Pool war klein, aber gut und auf der Terrasse konnte man sich gut erholen mit Blick auf den See. Das Restaurant La Juliette war auch gut, haben gut gegessen. Wir würden wieder kommen.

From start to finish, we loved our stay at this beautiful hotel. The staff were all so incredibly welcoming and helpful, and always had a pleasant greeting. Just a few minutes walk along the lake from the train station, as well as shopping and dining options in old Lucerne, we never required transportation. The hotel itself is elegant, and very picturesque. The rooms were clean, comfortable and very quiet. Highly recommend!

Excellent hotel, beautiful room, with very comfortable beds. Rooms and bathroom very clean. Loved our stay here. My only issue was breakfast, the service was terrible, the staff were faffing about trying to look busy rather than service customers, it took 25 mins from ordering for the cooked option to arrive and the place was a ¼ full at best. I would recommend you get breakfast elsewhere.

The room was comfortable. The bed and bedding was excellent. The bathroom was clean and in perfect condition. The carpet under the bed was a little lint ridden and could needed to be vacuumed more regularly. The hotel overall is old and not air conditioned but the room was entirely updated and had great AC. The staff was courteous, friendly and very helpful.

Before the arrival of our baby, we had a wonderful 2-night, 3-day stay at the hotel. The staff at the breakfast restaurant were very friendly, and the entire facility was spotless. Next time, we would appreciate it if you could offer us a welcome drink at check-in as well. ^_^

Tínhamos que reclamar e pedir outra limpeza para que esticassem a cama de forma adequada. Não é um padrão de serviço de hotel 5 estrelas. Não vale o preço. Muito caro para pouca entrega. Ficamos hospedados 7 noites, em uma viagem de 21 noites pela Suíça, esse foi sem dúvidas o pior hotel que ficamos. O lobby tinha cheiro de cigarro. A piscina não tive nem coragem de entrar. We wanted to end our 9 day Rhine River cruise with a stay at an elegant hotel on Lake Lucerne. We booked 2 rooms for $485 each for one night at Grand National. When we checked in we were shown two rooms in the old part of the hotel street side with no AC. They were pretty but stuffy. I booked this hotel bc the website stated that this hotel has AC. We asked for an air conditioned room and were offered an upgrade of $158 each. We are glad we upgraded. Our rooms were facing the lake newly renovated and very luxurious. We ended on a good note and had a lovely view of the lake from the double Fr3nch doors and slept well on luxe bedding. The amenities in the room were wonderful. Chocolates waters and fresh fruit were so appreciated. Note. There was not a bellman present at arrival or departure to help with luggage. And the entry to the hotel is side facing and has steps.

We were disappointed with our stay. For a five-star hotel at this price point, our expectations weren’t met. We booked a classic city view room—not a suite—which felt small, outdated, and had an unusually low shower head (I’m 5’11” and had to squat to rinse). Service was mixed: check-in was friendly with great food tips, but bar service was very slow. Other issues included early morning construction noise, undelivered luggage, malfunctioning key cards and Wi-Fi, and repeated trips to reception. These may have been isolated issues, but overall, the experience didn’t match the cost or reputation. We won’t be returning on our next visit to Lucerne.

We have stayed in some pretty special places but the Grand National Hotel has been right at the top of them. The staff, especially Tim Oberli in the front office, was attentive and helpful. We would definitely recommend a stay here.

Bad hotel gave us the room late the shower knob to open the water was so hard my husband had to take a towel to turn it and took him a while I could never do it. Beside they don’t refill the coffee nor the sugar in the room and for water they don’t leave you water in the room and when I called they told me to drink from the tap. I know in Lucerne is clean drinkable water from the tap but this is suppose to be a 5 star hotel I don’t think this is a good answer to a guest. Anyway the hotel did not do a good job with us will not recommend it and will never go back there. There are plenty of good 5 star hotels in Lucerne

Beautiful hotel with outstanding staff in an excellent location. Everything within the hotel’s control was fabulous! Dinner at Juliette was excellent, highly recommend! We had some issues with noisy neighbors and smoking, but the staff did everything they could to relocate us.

Great location. Walkable to downtown but not so close that it's too busy. View is amazing. This is a historic hotel, so the layout is a little dated, but that's part of the fun. Room was fantastic. We didn't go to the restaurants/bar that often but when we did they were good. By far the highlight is the staff who are very friendly and helpful. They gave us great tips on where to visit and how to do things. This was important since it was our first trip to Switzerland. If/when we go back to Lucerne we will definitely stay here again!

Magnifique hotel, mais il manque des éléments comme une rampe pour une poussette ! Pas de place de parc.. place payante à l'extérieur 35.-chf par jour. les restaurant ne servent plus à partir de 21h30... Taxe de séjour 8.50.- CHF pour deux personne très cher je trouve. Sinon il est bien placé, à proximité du bord du lac.

El hotel es muy bonito, tienen un servicio muy bueno los cuartos está muy buenos , a nosotros nos ofrecieron un upgrade y teníamos la suite con vista a lago muy muy bonito, desyunabamls en la terraza con las grandes vistas a los Alpes y el lago, tienen restaurantes muy bueno como el brasserie, además está muy céntrico puede ir caminando a cualquier punto en lucerna, el desayuno también es increible

What an overpriced hotel!! We had a lake view room - that we paid for! We ended up with a horrible small room with no view. They did nothing to make up for having to move to that kind of room. The room was on the other side of the hotel and if we left our room key wouldn’t open the main door!!! They acted like they were doing us a favor. You could clearly tell that room was never used because the water came out brown. You know when the pipes haven’t been used in awhile. Plus there was a company Christmas party and it was so loud. Because of this company party there was no room service or anything!!! We were able to Get a bottle of wine. When we checked out they charged us like 90 Francs for a bottle of wine that was 19.99 at the wine shop across the street. He even had the nerve to tell me he sent us the cheapest bottle they had. I kid you not he said that to me. Highly disappointed in the hotel.
