This place has such a rich history and you get absorbed by it. It was recently renovated and they did a great job. Saff is lovely and always helpful. We noticed this visit that they are allowing outside guests to purchase day passes to enjoy their property. Well this has turned into an over populated beach at this once quiet haven. I understand the attempt to generate more income but not at the expense of your loyal customers. They clearly get overwhelmed with trying to control the crowd and trying to confirm if that person is there with a paid pass or not. Unfortunately the beach and pools had a bunch of strays or non-payers and they will never be able to completely control this. With that said, this creates a bit of a safety concern and unfortunately we will probably not be returning for this fact alone. Especially being located downtown you need to secure the property with everything that is heppening there lately.

Love this place. Recebtly remodelled and absolutely gorgeous. I have yet to stay there when all 3 elevators were working. And one stay none wete. They had to take us up in the service elevator. Other than that I have stayed here at least half a dozen times. It is my go to in Nassau

The view of the water was wonderful especially as it could be seen while laying in my bed. Internet connection never failed. The pool and beach areas are very well kept and the outside furniture well maintained and comfortable. The large pump of sunscreen outside is also a very nice perk for those that may have forgotten theirs at home. The outdoor music was just the right volume- soft and close but not overbearing or inappropriate. I would highly recommend a stay at this hotel.

The property is beautifully maintained. I love this place. However, I had problems with my bill. I was charged again after i prepaid via expedia. The staff are warm and welcoming. My only other issue is parking and paying a resort fee when the only amenities are a pool and gym. I didn't feel a resort fee was necessary

There is a charge of 49.50 a night resort fee and a 35 a night parking fee. Also the resturant and stores in the area closes early. The resort itself is clean and the staff are pleasant.

We didn't like the fact that the cruise ships could buy a day pass. When they came off the ships every day, it was chaos with all the kids yelling and screaming. Also, the lounge chairs were hard to find available due to the day passes. Beautiful but unfortunately we will not return because of that.

The hotel is beautiful and in a good location. Beach is nice and pool nice as well. Room was average but good, very clean. The thing that bother us was the service, specially at the bars and restaurants. Food took forever to be ready, it was hard to get a hold on staff, like we had to beg for a drink or a meal - that was actually not cheap by the way. Positive topics: unlimited availability of towels by the pool and beach, good structure, great view at the beach and very calm water, a lot of options around and always a taxi available by the hotel lobby.

The room stunk like mildew. The whole place was tired. Amazingly, the sidewalk going to the back entrance from the pool area had water ponding at the entrance a simple fix, but it was a mess every time you walked in the building. I was there two nights and they charged me $70 to have my car parked there overall disappointing. But to be honest, all of the Nassau is rundown and It’s just a tourist money grab from the cruise ships. I won’t be back.

This is an historical building. It should be treated as such. Instead, the bathroom showers are deplorable with mold and the sinks and rest of the bathrooms arent properly cleaned everyday. There is noise coming from the air vents or behind the walls that the staff says they are not aware of, but were forced to admit that they heard it as I rang the front desk to come to my room and listen for themselves at 2 am. This hotel could be so glamorous with it beauty and history. Instead, they are milking the cow only serving a spoonful of milk.

Not sure who’s leaving reviews for the property. Nonetheless, during our 6 night reservation, the beds were made twice, the sheets were never changed, the floors were never vacuumed or moped and when we arrived there was mold at the base of the shower. And to top it off I paid close to $600 in resort fees.

Our room was smelly and there was mildew in the shower and tub. Friends who checked out after us were told the hotel was overbooked and their room was no longer available (they had pre-paid). It got resolved eventually after they expressed their extreme displeasure, but definitely not a place we would ever stay again.

Loud noise in wall. Maintenance fellow said it was the pipes in the bathroom walls. They did offer to change us to a different room but we were too tired to repack. Also room did not have a private balcony. It had a balcony at the end of hallway for all rooms in hall to share but no chairs to sit.

Beautiful hotel. Room was very small and quite loud being on 2nd floor in front by parking lot. Room was decorated nicely. Bathroom was very small and zero counter space or space to put any of your belongings. No shower curtain which looks great but makes wet mess of bathroom no matter how careful you are. Large soft bath towels, robes and slipper provided. Pools were lovely and food was great.

I recently stayed at this hotel and overall, I had a pleasant experience. The interior was very nice, and the location is excellent—convenient to everything I needed. My room was clean, comfortable, and well-appointed. The only downside was its placement next to a shared balcony. The staff were extremely professional, polite and helpful!!! We always received the best care and tips of where to go and what to do during our stay! Overall it was phenomenal, when we arrived we had a leak in our room. Rakeem didn’t hesitate and resolved our issue immediately. The tavern was amazing, the food was great and had a variety of food. Trevor had great service and made us come back 3 times! Thank you so much for being so hospitable and we plan on coming back!

Initially there was an issue as our room wasn't ready, but the manager was quick to resolve and even provided complimentary drinks for my fiancée and I while we waited! The property itself is beautiful from the architecture to the framed pieces of historical photos splattered throughout the resort. I can't comment on the pools, of which there were 2, as we opted for the private beach instead. Plenty of chairs and umbrellas were available upon request, and this was the perfect setting to enjoy the blue bahama waters. The crystal clear waters were beautifully calm throughout our entire trip, and we even marveled at the sound of the horns of the cruise ships docked nearby (but not obstructing the view). There was live music in the lounge nightly, but we opted to spend our evenings at nearby eateries. The location of this resort was fantastic. About a 20 minute taxi ride from the airport, and a short 5-10 walk to downtown area with the straw market and other shops. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and will definitely be back!

I normally don’t leave reviews, but I felt compelled to share my experience at the British Colonial because it was so disappointing. From the moment I arrived, I was charged high daily fees that I found extremely excessive. I travel often, and I’ve never seen fees like these in any other hotel. The service was very poor — I constantly felt like I was bothering the staff just by asking for basic assistance. No one seemed willing to help or even happy to be working there. The room was initially fine, but the TV didn’t work for two full days. Instead of fixing it, they just moved me to a different room. That room had dirty sheets with signs of mold. From that point on, I couldn’t sleep well because I no longer trusted the cleanliness of the space. On top of that, I placed an online food order with specific instructions for my child, which was delivered incorrectly and charged twice. I’m truly saddened by this experience. I had high hopes, but it was not worth the cost at all. The service, food, and cleanliness were far below standard. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Clean room. Great amazing beach it was private and not a lot of people. The restaurant was a bit slow service but the food was still really good. If you are female and traveling alone or with only other females please be careful at night walking as it didn’t seem too safe for us. The guys at the valet were very sweet too. This place is beautiful, and historic old Nassau, but right next to the cruise terminals, so you get 3-4 ships coming in every morning, and the tourists roll in. When they leave, the shops all close. For the less then stellar location, the prices should be way more reasonable.

Due to incoming tropical storm our group of 8 was evacuated early from our catamaran in Abaco. We made it to Nassau and had to spend the night. The British Colonial had four rooms available for our group and we were pleased (it was off-season). The hotel is beautiful but if you don’t have an ocean view you look at a roof or McDonalds. The guest reception staff were excellent. The rain shower feature in the room was great. The bed was a little too soft. The pool looked lovely but pool bar service was just ok. No piña coladas at any bar on the property. Hotel location was great for a self-guided walking tour of downtown (found online). The London restaurant downtown was delicious for dinner and easy to walk to from the hotel. Not many options for breakfast outside of hotel. Hotel restaurant worked for breakfast. Taxi is easy to get to/from hotel/airport.

Loved the fact it was near the straw market and boat ramps for water activities. Rooms were clean. The souvenir/general store was not open during regular business hours. The only complaint for our 6 night stay was the wait staff and manager at the sushi restaurant. The waiter forgot 3 sushi orders and when we asked about the plates, manager told my husband we probably didn’t order it . The wait staff told him he probably forgot to write it down but it took 30 minutes for our sushi to arrive after and only one table was being served besides us. Poor management for that restaurant. Other than that everything was phenomenal.
