Hotel Riu Jalisco

Loved the TRUE all-inclusive. Food was ok overall, not excellent but there was lots. Same goes for the drinks. Facilities are looking worn but that is why the hotel is closing this summer for 4 months to accommodate a full renovation. Rooms are ok. Not spectacular but clean and bathroom facilities work fine. What makes this hotel spectacular right jow is the activities. LOTS yo do during the day (volleyball, zumba, games, foam party...). Evening entertainment us OK... not spectacular but ok. The white party was AWSOME. I did not like the kids club (RiuLand) it requites parent participation for all kids (even 9, 19,11 ect year olds). The facilities are old and they lack age-appropriate entertainment. Most of the games are very childish so the older kids don't want to participate. It misses the idea of convenience so that parents can drop the kids off and have them enjoy and interact. I have been to other hotels (Melia, Dreams... and cruiselines like Holland America) where kids activities were much better. Alot of weirdos on thebeach in the evenings... there was a theft during the white party on Friday during our stay. I would call it a 3-star hotel at the moment.

The grounds were beautiful, the staff was great, and there was a lot of nature on the beach. I wish they strictly enforced the no reserving chairs with towels. It was impossible for us to ever visit the main pool. All the seats were reserved from 6:00 a.m.

It is a great place to stay, with super friendly staff and tasty food and snacks. The only problem is to find a parking spot available

First time on this resort, great kids pool , food court plenty of seating , lots of restaurants to choose from , amazing beach and at night Entertainment always great .

I just came back today after about 4 days of vacation at this Riu Jalisco. It was a family trip, my kids loved the small children area pools. They have 2 small kids pools with slides and play area's. We all loved the beach water is warm, swimmable and plenty of waves. The food selection at the buffets is pretty good. Not spectacular, but they have just enough to make it good. The pool areas for adults are big sized, with a swim up bar. The cons were, all the pools always were dirty with random debris, trash etc. The attendant at the swim up bar was rude to me, they made an issue that i swam to the area with my kids. They're is no sign that children are not allowed near swim up bar. We just wanted some lemonade to cool down. We have been allowed to do this at competitors hotels, without an issue. The night shows were basically non existent, other hotels have awesome night shows. All they had were some sub par musicians. Big negative, no servers near pools or beach areas. All other all inclusive hotels there plenty of staff bringing you drinks. Like i said you get what you pay for. I think it was over all good. All in all i still recommend this place for a family trip, the restaurants, buffets, lobby areas were always very clean. Staff is overall positive and helpful. You'll have fun.

No elevators and no drink service on the beach

The resort is beautiful, grounds kept immaculate, beach area fairly clean as was the pools. The food options were plenty and was able to get my fill from the different restaurants. Overall a good place to vacation.

All over is good but new experience they don’t have any lotion and conditioner in room . This resort rooms looks old need more renovations to look more better . Food is excellent but same menu everyday.Staff is friendly but most of employees don’t under stand English. Gym equipment very old and cleaning and washrooms need renovation and cleaning person should look after well we noticed no hand soap in both men’s and ladies washroom one weeks. Entertainment is excellent. Service is great.

Overall decent. The food options were really good. Limited pool availability with only 2 pools and they were very crowded. Not a lot of shade.The hotel is right on the beach though too so easy access there. The lunch options here aren't very good I would recommend using the Vallarta for lunch and they have a lot more options for pool too.

There is only one elevator area, which meant endless lines to get to your room. Also, at breakfast time, the two restaurants at the RIU Jalisco were not enough to provide service.And the lines for breakfast were endless. There weren't enough seats on the entertainment stage to watch the show.

Housekeeping does a great job. The food options were good but the taste was always hit and miss. There was a giant cockroache in my room, but hey, it's Mexico. Good value for a family vacation.

The resort was okay. The pool was disgusting!!! I dont think it has a strong enough filtration system, they did not clean it frequently enough and it felt like you were swimming in bug soup! One day i went in right after they had cleaned it and there was dirty napkins in the pool from the night prior. A lot of staff did not speak english which is uncommon in my personal experience at all inclusive resorts in Puerto Vallarta. The staff was also often rude. The food was meh. The room was nice enough, though the bed was super hard and you had to request more than 1 pillow also you couldnt control the room temperature. Also the elevators were super scary, so we oped for taking the stairs more often than not. I would not stay here again. Very disappointed!

Our experience at this hotel was extremely disappointing. The property was dirty and outdated, and the service was poor throughout our stay. Food options were very limited and unappealing. The pool was in terrible condition—cloudy, filled with hair, and clearly not maintained. There was no water in our room at one point, and when it did run, it came out brown. I would not recommend this hotel and would rate it 1 star.

the facility is impressively clean, room was tidy, organized and really comfortable. I saw staff washing windows to the restaurants daily. very impressive

The food at the resort was amazing! The staff was a plus as well. The resort on the outside is visually stunning…but inside the rooms is totally different. The rooms were very dated and showed severe signs of deterioration. I disliked that the resort uses brown towels, so we really didn’t know how clean they were. The room was not the cleanest. A ROACH literally fell on my head one day when we walked in the room. On my 4 day trip, I saw a total of 6 roaches in the room. The hotel was sold out so we didn’t have an option to move.

Terrible. This is the worst “all inclusive” I’ve ever stayed at. NEVER again will I stay here. 1st accommodation are sub par, if you enjoy cleanliness, don’t go here. There was bugs in the room everyday, all the sheets are old, rough and stained. 2nd it’s not truly all inclusive, they tell you that they only stock your mini fridge every second day, so don’t ask for more because they won’t do it. 3rd they control the room temperature, and these Mexico humid hot summers are not great without air conditioning. 4th if you’re a foodie, don’t come here it’s all buffet and what is a la carte is a menu of like three choice entrees. Pictures buffet line, empty restaurant because it’s gross, pizza (yuck).

Todos los lugares y areas estaban muy limpios el cuarto donde yo me quede no estaba muy limpio. Tenia mojo en los baños y los espejos estaban sucios. Pero todo lo demas estubo genial definitivamente lo recomiendo.

Clean resort, staff was great

i wish the pools to be cooler and Air conditioning in the rooms to be cooler as well.

The food was terrible and not replenished enough. It’s the only time I’ve gone on vacation and actually lost weight. The hotel is ridiculously loud - I was woken by construction noise every day I was there. Constant parties and loud guests. It’s extremely difficult to find shady lounge chairs at the pool because it is overcrowded, and the beach has ZERO sun coverage unless you RENT an umbrella from a stall not related to the hotel. I strongly advise you to pick a different hotel. So disappointing and a waste of my money.

The beds need to be a lot bigger I didn’t sleep well all 6 nights. Both my daughters (3y&4y)fell off the bed during sleep cos the bed is way too small.the food was ok. The beach was amazing. The staff is super friendly. I might do it again if they upgrade their rooms.

We were facing shade all day and had no sun all day in the balcony. Made our room very damp and gloomy. We know it’s humid but we slept with air off as it was actually cold at night. You could see mold was building up in areas of the room.

Riu Jalisco was a good sized property that is very well maintained. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. I got the junior suite and the amount of room I had to spread out in was great. Complete with it's own mini bar and safe. My view overlooking the property and the water was fantastic from the amazing spacious balcony. There is five different restaurants featuring different that was 1 buffet and 4 themed. Unfortunately, I found the food underwhelming. The nightly entertainment was fantastic that included a white party. Many activities during the day as well. I was there on my birthday weekend and the hotel left me a gift of a small bottle of Tequila in my room. That was a very pleasant surprise. All in all, I would visit there again .

The RIU service is outstanding. Staff were friendly and accommodating across the facility, and went out of their way to make everyone’s experience special. The food is very good, with some items being exceptional. Flavours were good, there was lots of variety, and the presentation was great. The beach is wonderful, with a large expanse of clean sand and fun waves. There were always available beach chairs (we didn’t use the pools much as we prefer the beach generally) and there are food and drinks available at the beach, including both a snack bar and lunch buffet. The facilities are being cleaned constantly, which makes it very pleasant. The cleaners work so hard!! The rooms are spacious and comfortable enough but a bit dated (didn’t bother us), and the hotel accommodated my online floor request with no issues. The mini bar is restocked every 2nd day, which worked fine for us, and bottled water is provided. We were pleased to hear about renovations happening soon. The grounds are stunning, with a beautiful central fountain area. Zero hassle at check in and check out and the lobby staff are always willing to assist should help be needed. The pop-up bars are a fun touch. Mexican night was wonderful. My only criticism is that more seating is needed for the evening shows. They are well attended and very entertaining but we left early most nights because there were no available seats. Otherwise, Well done, RIU team!

The staff was so polite and helpful especially if tipped. Felt very safe. If we had an issue with the room we got on the app and requested what we needed and it was fixed or got supplies right away. The whole resort was constantly being cleaned. From aug-dec they are doing a major remodel.

Everything was great except the reception desk. Very rude and unprofessional. I had only one positive experience at reception desk with young girl with dark hair who helped us with my kids bed. Otherwise, food was good, entertainment was great and we enjoyed the beach!

Very beautiful hotel. The servers very helpful and very nice. Food was good. Loved the entertainment every night.

This was our second time staying at the Riu Jalisco and yet again it was an awesome stay! The food options are endless with their 5 restaurants. The main buffet provides many of different tastes for some with the urge to try Mexican cuisine to the simplest taste of pizza and fries. The rooms had WiFi which was a big plus as some resorts only have wifi in the lobby/certain area. I can’t thank enough for the staff as they were so friendly and made our trip that much more fun!!! Everyday they had activities such as beach volleyball, soccer, ping pong, darts and many more! If you aren’t one to do activities you can easily just chill at the pool or the beach and have some drinks. Some resorts have really rocky beaches but this beach has soft sand so perfect for swimming! It was just my boyfriend and I and it was fun for us adults as they have the adult party/show later evening but would also be great for families as well as they also had a kids show early evening. Would highly recommend riu jalisco and know for a fact that we will be going there again!!

the front desk staff is very rude. i was staying there for 4 nights n they charged me extra. on top the room AC didn’t worked. had to complain atleast 20 times before they moved us into a different room. i fell in the bathroom outside area due to leak. no refund or any accommodation

Great stay! Found our floors in room just didn’t get cleaned that often. But the food at all the restaurants was amazing! Loved the entertainment and beach access was incredible! Staff was always so friendly and bartenders were amazing!

I like the staff and service

The hotel is old/ but the vibe and activities were good. The taxi fee to and from el malecon which is like downtown area was around 50 USA just one was so the location was not worth it. I would not recommend if you want to visit the malecon often

The property is great with a beautiful beach. All the activities were amazing and the activities staff were very nice and friendly. Alex, Francisco & Emanuel are the best!!. We will definitely have to come back next year.

The property is well located, and beautiful. The person at the front desk was very friendly and give us a very good information about the property and amenities. everyone was very friendly specially Ramiro the Bartender he was very friendly and professional remembering our drinks and have them ready for my wife and I. The Riu has great restaurants, the food is great in all of them, and the service is friendly and fast the food is delicious, one of our servers was Alondra also very nice and ready to help with a smile. hour room was very nice, clean and comfortable, we had a small issue but the front desk send the maintenance team and got it ready in a bit. Thank you to Amelia our housekeeper which leave a little towel shape animals that make my wife smille. In resumen our stay at the Riu was a great experience, we party, we rest and we had a great time We will definitely be back Thank you all

I like the location of the hotel and the options for dining. I did not like the lack of staff assistance or crowd control. I did not like the dated facilities and most important. I did not like there was no security from the beach onto the hotel. I literally saw a homeless person walk in walk into their reflecting pond and walk right up to the lobby. I did not feel I was protected there.

We loved the palm trees on the beach. There were always enough loungers. The food was very good, lots to choose from but sometimes buffet items were not hot. We liked eating outside. The property is very compact so very walkable. However, especially in the pool areas, this means that it can get very crowded. The room was comfortable, however, we were on the top floor and there was a repetitive noise (from a water pump?). Check-in and out was fast. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Overall our experience was very mid. The food option and taste was the worse of all and the staff were friendly but just not really present. It seemed to be short staffed or the staff were just so busy that we barely could get service like refill on our waters etc. A couple of times we just went to the drink area and refilled our own drinks. There was no variety in food each night, it was the same each night and just overall the food was not that great. We found ourselves leaving to eat in the downtown area instead. The rooms were a bit outdated but it was okay. The overall property was nice though. We did enjoy the pools and beach. The kids area was so small compared to how the pictures made it look. Overall it was average. It was not worth the price and we wouldn’t return. Hopefully they can hire more staff for the size of the property to help service customers.

Good buffet. A la cart restaurants easy to get in to- no reservations needed but food not great.

Bathrooms, chairs around the pool are kinda worn down. Room is ok. Hallways are clean, dining rooms are also clean. The food though is mediocre. Some does not even have a taste. For the special restaurant the only thing is great is the Italian one. The steak restaurants are disappointing as well as the asian one. The buffet breakfast is just ok. Compared to the other Riu all inclusive that Ive been to this one is bottom of the list. I do like the pool and the beach area. I wish they have a coffee or deli snacks area.

Resort had day and night fun activities. Breakfast buffet was really good with many selections. However, dinner at the restaurants was average and best. The steak house opened at 6:30pm. My family and I showed up at 6:40 only to be told seating was full and would have to wait until 8pm for next seating. Very disappointed. 3 of 5 stars

My husband and I were extremely disappointed in this resort, we went with a group of 16 people and 9 of us got extremely sick and it ruined a major part of our trip. The food was very gross, cups with drinks were filthy. Not sanitary at all! The rooms were also gross and dirty, the sheets were stained and the drink station looked like it had never been cleaned. One of the nights we went out to sit by the beach and the chairs were covered in what smelled like bleach and ruined our clothing and burned our legs.

Loved its a family friendly resort. Just looking for more cuisine options. Less American, more mexican and Caribbean
