It's a bit much with the number of people, tours and general lack of sophistication. Felt like Disney or a cruise ship. Check in was very impersonal and no information on hotel etc. Honestly, just a lot of attitude. However, the bar and its staff are gems. Main gift shop is lovely. Room had a nice water view. Gym is too small/lacking for size of property It's more impressive from a distance than in person. Stay elsewhere and just enjoy it from afar and grab drinks at the bar!!!.

Chateau Frontenac is a venerable and iconic lodge that isn’t resting on its laurels. Despite being 150 years old, the service and staff and accommodations are still at the top of their game. My only complaint, and it’s a thin one, is that I understood there was a spa with a dry sauna and a wet sauna. Only the men’s locker room has both. The women’s just has a wet sauna but it was broken. Boo hiss. For a world class hotel, arguably one of the best in North America, this is unacceptable. We went to Strøm Spa instead and spent a wonderful day (and a not insignificant amount of money) enjoying the thermal spa facilities.

The Fairmont Château Frontenac is a beautiful hotel in a fantastic location. The check-in staff were friendly and helpful, and we appreciated being able to get into our room early. A special thank you to Rose at the concierge desk for helping us book tour tickets—she was great. However, there were some disappointments. Our room overlooked the courtyard and was quite loud with maintenance noise starting around 9am. The pool and hot tub were overcrowded, the steam room (which is only available to women) was out of service and there was no space in the bar fridge for our own drinks. We also found it frustrating that robes weren’t in the room, and when we asked the concierge for one, we felt like we were bothering them. Overall, we’re glad we experienced the hotel, but for the price, we likely wouldn’t return

It was so much fun to stay in this iconic hotel. I stayed three nights in early November when this huge hotel was not at its busiest (even so, there was still a little line to check in and the pool and hot tub were a little crowded). My queen room with a courtyard view was beautiful and very well designed. I really liked the view too -- the courtyard is charming and you can see some of the city buildings anyway. The room while technically not huge actually felt quite spacious, and I really appreciated how they managed to carve such a large shower area and so much counter space out of what is not a large bathroom. I was comfortable and happy here and it's such a fun place to explore. Quebec City, of course, is magical, and the Chateau Frontenac is in the best possible location to enjoy all the magic. It is hard to imagine a hotel better located in its city. Wonderful, memorable stay.

Iconic hotel, at the center of everything a tourist wants to see and experience in Quebec City. Not only is the hotel excellent, it provides complimentary tours! There are complimentary activities guests can also avail so staying here is value for money. The location can’t be beaten, it’s also a few steps away from the funicular (or stairs) down to the beautiful Petit Champlain area and from there, a few steps away from the port/ferry.

Ich war etwas zu früh da und konnte aber trotzdem schon einchecken. Leider war das Zimmer noch nicht bereit. Man bot mir ein Upgrade meines «Deluxe / Queen mit Flusssicht» an und ich bekam für einen kleinen Aufpreis das Nebenzimmer der Elizabeth II - Suite mit einem King-Size Bett und sehr viel Platz / Aussicht. Der Zimmerservice war tipp top und auch das Angebot an Restaurants.

This property is the perfect location for you to enjoy Old Quebec and Quebec City. It’s right on the boardwalk/Dufferin Terrace and at the entry of the funicular. The hotel itself is gorgeous and steeped in history. You can tour the hotel with people dressed in period costume, and you can also take a very reasonably priced tour of the 17th and 18th century archaeological site below the boardwalk - it’s very worth the hour. The hotel has a Starbucks on the ground floor and the room service was reasonable and delicious. The staff went above and beyond and was so kind. The pool was great and offered Nespresso, water and fresh towels, and the patio bar was beautiful. A few things I didn’t like - for the relatively high price per night, the room we had was VERY small. Two double beds was a tight squeeze for two adults and two children. The internet wasn’t the best. The TV was local cable only and not a smart TV. The couch and carpet in the room were a bit dirty and there were some tiny ants in the couch area on the carpet. Again, these things are ok, but I felt at that price point you’d have a newer TV, larger bed, and no ants. Did the historic nature of the hotel and the convenience of the location make up for those? Yes.

Check in process was poor. The gentleman who checked us in kept walking away randomly and disappearing for 5 to 10 minutes. He eventually came back and asked us if we wanted a King. I asked if King was available and he said no. So I’m not sure why he even mentioned it. He then proceeded to give us a room. That was not a queen room. It had a full size bed. And was the size of a shoebox. Not at all what we had booked. After a terrible night sleep, we asked the front desk staff if there was another room available that had a queen size bed. The gentleman who was helping I said that we should’ve never been given that room because they all know it’s only a full-size bed, and it should only be used for a single person. Not sure why they didn’t give us a proper room in the first place. They did correct the issue and gave us a nice room the next night. However, it was right above where they were taking the trash out at 3 AM which went on for about 45 minutes of banging of trash cans. We complain about this issue at check out, and they credited to our account for the valet parking. But clearly this is ongoing issue at this hotel. I was expecting more from this property. In general the staff were helpful and well trained.

The property is very nice. Everything was perfect except one small item. We had a room with a king size bed. It was spacious with a decent view. The bathroom had the toilet between the vanity and the shower with absolutely no room. Very hard to sit and goto the bathroom. We asked to change rooms to no avail.

I will start this review by saying I would have rated The Frontenac higher had we not had daily bad experiences during our stay. We have stayed here numerous times before and have always had a lovely experience but during this stay there was one area that ruined our stay. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and were surprised with a room upgrade upon check-in. The hotel is beautiful inside and out. The history is fascinating and an important part of Canadian history. Now the reasons I rated the hotel very poor. We were there for 3 nights and everyday we had a bad experience with their dining/bar staff. It wasn’t the wait staff themselves but the hosting staff. There are a group of 3 to 4 young women that act as “ Gate Keepers “ to the bar and restaurants. You can’t even step inside the bar without their permission. We have never experienced such a bizarre policy. The first night we wanted to enjoy a cocktail before heading to dinner. There were empty 4 tops in the bar but because we were only a party of 2 they would not allow us in just in case a party of 4 came in. She asked if we wanted to be put on the “wait list” for a table for 2. So she expected us to wait in the hall looking at empty seats in the bar. We asked to speak to a manager who apologized and sat us immediately. This problem continued daily with lunch at The Sam, empty tables and wanted us to come back 45 mins later. We had the same bar issue every night. We will not stay here again.

The staff were excellent. I had forgotten my wife’s birthday card in my room and only realized it once we were at La Tanière. Thanks to the can-do attitudes of Laurie and Rosemarie, Laurie went to my room to get the card and Rosemarie dropped the card off at the restaurant on her way home after her shift. That is real service! Congratulations Fairmont and thank you Laurie and Rosemarie!

Stunning hotel, in the perfect location with beautiful clean rooms and really friendly staff. I think this hotel needs to decide if it’s a high quality hotel or a tourist attraction, constantly packed with people, hard to find assistance and a 30 minute wait for guests to even have a drink in the bar ! At the price point they need to do better.

Staff was fantastic. The Chateau Frontenac is the ultimate place to stay in Quebec! Valet service is a must (affordable and very convenient). The Hop On/Hop Off bus stop is right out front. The boardwalk and access to the funicular is right out front. Vistas of the St. Lawrence River, which the Chateau sits above,are awesome. So close to everything Quebec! We had an outstanding stay at the Fairmont in Old Québec City. The location alone makes this hotel exceptional — it sits right in the heart of Old Québec, with most major attractions just a short and enjoyable walk away. We were able to explore historic streets, shops, and iconic landmarks without needing a car, which made the experience stress-free and immersive. Many excellent restaurants, cafés, and bakeries are within walking distance, giving us endless dining options every day. One highlight for our family was how close the hotel is to the toboggan slide at Terrasse Dufferin — an absolute must-do, especially in winter. Being able to walk there easily made it even better. The hotel is also very conveniently located for visiting other Québec City attractions. It’s close to Vacation Camp activities, the Ice Hotel (Hôtel de Glace), and other popular destinations, making it a perfect base for sightseeing and family adventures. Whether you’re exploring history, enjoying winter activities, or simply soaking in the charm of the city, everything feels accessible from this location. Beyond the unbeatable location, the hotel itself is beautiful, well-maintained, and comfortable. It’s a magical hotel to stay at during the winter holidays. The decorations are dreamy. Our room view on the 18th floor was stunning. The customer service was excellent. Our 3 years old enjoyed the treasure hunt throughout the castle. We were just very disappointed with the Holiday Brunch, for the same price or less we’ve had much more lavish brunches at the Renoir at Sofitel Montreal and at the Casino of Montreal. Overall it was a great family experience.

Staff were all very friendly. Reserved a room in Fairmont Gold---didnt think the added cost was worth it. The food offerings were not very much, and you still had to pay for alcohol?!? The wifi was obscenely slow. If i were to choose fairmont again i would skip the Gold room/lounge.

Excellent hotel luxueux avec beaucoup dactivités prévues pour les guests (cours de mixologie par exemple). Tres belle piscine et le breakfast est vraiment incroyable! Par contre pour le prix tres élevé la chambre est vraiment petite. Mais les lits sont tres confortables.

Really enjoyed our visit to Le Chateau Frontenac and the beautiful Quebec City. Staff were friendly and efficient. We arrived early and, even though our room wasn't ready, were able to leave our luggage and go off and explore the area. The room was spacious and spotless, and the bed was very comfortable. We ordered room service in advance, and it was delivered promptly the following morning. There is a resort fee, but the hotel has lots of activities that are covered by this every day, and we booked to do the river tour Sunday morning before we departed. We also visited Bar 1608 on a busy Saturday evening, and were impressed by the speed at which we were seated and served. We sat at the bar, and watching the cocktails being created was fun, and they were delicious. Overall, a very pleasant stay, and wouldn't hesitate to stay again in the future.

The hotel was nicely located across from bistro 140 which was a wonderful outdoor cafe. The hotel was also convenient to other historic parts of the city and shopping. The room was very clean, and all the staff were very friendly. We weren’t able to eat at the hotel as restaurant had a wait.

Didn't have breakfast there I did however go for a business meeting at the SeM restaurant... the waiter poured my drink all over me, my papers and my phone. He braught a wet rag for me to clean it up. Very disappointing

The room was clean, well furnished and stocked. View of the River was beautiful. Hotel has several great restaurants and a bar on site. The high quality and superb service comes at a high price, but it is a very unique historical hotel.

Bucket list stay and exceeded expectations. It is an absolutely stunning hotel! The check in was easy and the clerk was friendly and polite. We had mentioned our anniversary at time of booking and got a free upgrade to a river view room - it was beautiful. The bed was very soft and lots of pillows and a cosy duvet. The pool on the 6th was was so nice and warm, the room had lots of seating and refreshing lemon water and the staff went out of their way to get a bathrobe for me. The whole place it elegant, immaculately clean and staff are attentive without being too much. We had dinner at Le Sam and it was a wonderful anniversary. It's definitely a special treat and pricey, but here you really do get what you pay for.

No complaints whatsoever. It wasn't a bargain so I would have liked the chocolate on my pillow :-) We were there in early september so no crowd. Clean room (I had the smallest one so the toilet is a bit tight). Warm swimming pool. Helpful staff: from the valet parking, to the reception to the concierge. Everyone took their time to help.
