Helpful, friendly staff. 2 car parks for hotel customers though parking cannot be reserved or guaranteed. We were fine Thursday & Friday night early July. Luggage storage if needed. Breakfast had reasonable range. Room was ok. We were on road side and was a bit concerned re noise but heard nothing )on 1st floor up). Beds soft but comfortable. Would have put excellent but no black out curtains and insufficient curtain to cover the windows so eye blinds needed for summer travel. Great location for easy walk to national museum, town etc. 20 min walk to Saga Museum, Maritime Museum and old quay area.

Of the three places we stayed in we like this place the best. Not right in the heart of the downtown shopping area so it felt like we were able to walk down and enjoy those elements of the dirt hut not be immersed in them. Walkable, good restaurants within an easy stroll of the hotel. The bar in the hotel was very comfortable with deep leather chairs, fireplace and friendly bartender. Old timey elevator with a lush open door and no gate to slide across. Just hit enough to fit two people snd a couple of bags. The suite was clean with a free first mini bar drink or snack, comfortable bed, nicest bathroom so far with a deep tub, and a nice sitting room. For the money - right in the middle of the price range of places we stayed we by far like it the best.

Hotel Holt is about an 7 minute walk to the Rainbow Street in Reykjavik. From there you have access to restaurants, shops, museums, etc. The hotel is older and the lobby, bar, lounge areas have a old, posh, distinduished vibe. The room was nice but a bit dated, which I would say about the hotel in general. Nice, clean, convenient location, safe to walk around, friendly staff, but some wear and tear is starting to show. The breakfast was good and the items changed daily with a good selection of local Icelandic options. There are 2 parking lots available for parking; one lot only has 4 spots, but the other has more spaces but is tight and hard to get in and out of at times, but I always got a spot. Overall, enjoyed my stay at Hotel Holt.

The 5 star customer service at Hotel Holt began even before I checked in. They helped me reserve a spa visit and a tour, and gave advice on airport transfers -- jumping in to help when a glitch in the Flybus website booked my ticket for the wrong day. Adam waited up for my 2 am arrival and Jennifer helped with additional bookings. The lovely breakfast and art collection throughout the building make it easy to overlook that my quiet single room was tiny and in need of an update. It had a coffee machine but no fridge. The hotel is in a cute neighborhood, easy walk to Rainbow street and the pond. Stately sitting area on the ground floor offered tea and coffee, but the bar was closed on the days I was there.

Great location walkable to sights and dining in Old Town and along the river. Breakfast very good, and free parking a huge plus in that neighborhood. (but be forewarned the parking is very tight if you have an SUV, 4x4, any larger vehicle). Art collection is very quirky. Otherwise decor is very dark and a little dated in common spaces (not rooms), but we didn't care. Elevator very small/old. Only 1 person & baggage at a time.

Lovely hotel in it’s former days. Staff is friendly but they haven’t had a restaurant in quite some time. The day I was there if you wanted to enjoy a drink in the lovely sitting room you had to buy it from the front desk. No bar in a supposedly 4 star hotel?

The room (twin bed) was relatively small and basic but clean and comfortable. Excellent coffee at the reception. Staff was genuinely friendly and helpful. Cons: tv had only one English channel (UK ƁC); no body lotion; breakfast buffet was very expensive.

We loved the location of the hotel and the rooms were spotlessly clean so well done housekeeping, but the hotel had two male receptionists that couldn't have done more for us and one female receptionist who was very off hand and who couldn't have cared less when we got stuck in the lift and when we returned for a third night at the hotel after touring other parts of Iceland couldn't remember us . She definitely lets down the hotel with a very poor attitude which is a shame because it's a great hotel with a great location.

Room was spotlessly clean and well appointed. A complementary selection of beverages and snacks was a nice touch. I loved the separate tub room with a fabulous soaking tub. Staff was extremely helpful and took the time to book our tickets for The Sky Lagoon.

vraiment pas exceptionnel ; des moquettes partout. l’établissement date des années 60 mais n’est pas dans un esprit 60´s. L’extérieur n’est pas engageant ( moquette extérieure délavée, carreaux sales). Si la chambre est datée, on sent tout de même un effort pour la maintenir propre ( peintures impeccables), moquettes aspirées, joints de carrelage propres)

I had a lovely stay here. I felt very welcomed. The staff were helpful and kind, willing to answer my questions. I was able to walk everywhere I needed to from my hotel. Quick access to the church, rainbow street, shopping and restaurants. My room was spacious and comfortable. I really enjoyed the breakfast every morning, I highly recommend adding this to your stay package.

We had a suite as there were 3 of us. The second bed was a pull out couch. It was unusable as bed and one of our party had to sleep on it folded as a couch. Not ideal. The property had also seen better days; it was tired and dated. We could also hear pull conversations being heard in the rooms beside ours. But the staff were lovely and the location very good.

Loved our stay at the Hotel Holt for our first visit to Iceland. The staff was very thoughtful and helped us celebrate daughter’s birthday as a surprise! Good size rooms. Very walkable to attractions and downtown. Giving four stars only because the coffee machine didn’t work.

Lack luster dated hotel. Halls smell and look old. Room was fresh though. Horrible buffet breakfast with dry scrambled eggs and hot dogs.there are walkable options locally though. Snaps was nice. curtains didn’t cover the windows so we slept in the midnight sun. Paper thin walls. Much of the art is warped and yellowed. This was probably lovely back in the day.

Stayed here on 2 different occasions. It wss nice, dated - but in a historical way that i appreciated. Im sensitive to smells and my biggest issue is there is a smell, and i cannot tell if it was from the curtains or something else. It was so bad the 2nd stay that i had to sleep with my shirt over my nose. Outside of that it was nice and i enjoyed the breakfast that i prepurchased.
Stayed here on 2 different occasions. It wss nice, dated - but in a historical way that i appreciated. Im sensitive to smells and my biggest issue is there is a smell, and i cannot tell if it was from the curtains or something else. It was so bad the 2nd stay that i had to sleep with my shirt over my nose. Outside of that it was nice and i enjoyed the breakfast that i prepurchased.

We had a great stay here. The hotel itself is beautiful. We really enjoyed the aesthetic; however the room was quite small and did not feel as nice as the rest of the hotel. The staff were wonderful, breakfast and the bar were great. Free parking was fantastic, and we were so close to everything downtown that we mainly just walked everywhere.

The location and friendly staff are great. The staff are helpful and try their best. Negative: wifi is very weak at the hotel, especially on the higher floors. The hotel room did not have a functioning landline even after plugging in their phone. So if you need to work or call you have to go to the lobby.

We loved the location of the hotel and the rooms were spotlessly clean so well done housekeeping, but the hotel had two male receptionists that couldn't have done more for us and one female receptionist who was very off hand and who couldn't have cared less when we got stuck in the lift and when we returned for a third night at the hotel after touring other parts of Iceland couldn't remember us . She definitely lets down the hotel with a very poor attitude which is a shame because it's a great hotel with a great location.

The 5 star customer service at Hotel Holt began even before I checked in. They helped me reserve a spa visit and a tour, and gave advice on airport transfers -- jumping in to help when a glitch in the Flybus website booked my ticket for the wrong day. Adam waited up for my 2 am arrival and Jennifer helped with additional bookings. The lovely breakfast and art collection throughout the building make it easy to overlook that my quiet single room was tiny and in need of an update. It had a coffee machine but no fridge. The hotel is in a cute neighborhood, easy walk to Rainbow street and the pond. Stately sitting area on the ground floor offered tea and coffee, but the bar was closed on the days I was there.

The hotel charged us early check in fee without informing us that it would be an extra cost. Upon checking in, they simply asked us if we would like to wait for the room to be ready (one of our two rooms was available by 9am), and then we went there, when they informed us around noon that the second room was also ready for us. They charged our card an additional $180 after we had left without telling us anything or informing us that it would require an extra charge. I am very disappointed as this was our first day in Iceland, and we had no idea what was going on. It felt like they took advantage of us. Had we been told the early check in would be an additional $180 , we would not have done that, as we spent the day outside the hotel anyway once the rooms were ready.

Hotel is in quiet residential area but walking distance to shopping and restaurant areas. Gabriela in the reception desk was particularly helpful, effective and professional. She recommended places of interest to us , helped us to book tickets and taxi as needed. We had a comfortable stay.

We liked the art throughout the hotel. The breakfast buffet was good. The staff were all most helpful. Adam assisted in advance of our stay in arranging for a driver, Antonis, to meet us at KEF early in the morning then give us the “golden triangle” tour.

The property is well cared for and well run! It is a few blocks from the main street of restaurants and the Church. It is easy walking distance to the harbour and the bus terminal. We did not choose the breakfast option. The room had a nespresso machine. We had a room with a separate sitting area from the bedroom. It was great! With a view of the church. The ART everywhere really elevated the hotel into a be seen place.

We spent our last 2 nights in Iceland here. This hotel is right in downtown Reykjavik, easy walking to all the shopping, restaurants, and sightseeing. The room itself was very comfortable. We had a suite, so our daughter had the sofa bed all to herself, while we had a separate bedroom. The breakfast was AMAZING, even included a tsp of cod liver oil, which brought me back to my childhood! Free private parking for guests was a plus.

(but be forewarned the parking is very tight if you have an SUV, 4x4, any larger vehicle). Art collection is very quirky. Otherwise decor is very dark and a little dated in common spaces (not rooms), but we didn't care. Elevator very small/old. Only 1 person & baggage at a time.

Snaps was nice. curtains didn’t cover the windows so we slept in the midnight sun. Paper thin walls. Much of the art is warped and yellowed. This was probably lovely back in the day.

Lovely hotel in it’s former days. Staff is friendly but they haven’t had a restaurant in quite some time. The day I was there if you wanted to enjoy a drink in the lovely sitting room you had to buy it from the front desk. No bar in a supposedly 4 star hotel?
