I booked this hotel for sight seeing after going on a cruise that landed in Sydney. Loved that it was right by the Opera House and cruise terminal, walking distance or short taxi drives to a lot of sites. They had an early arrival lounge which made it great. We were there till our room was available early. Someone even came by to replace the bathroom lock that we didn’t know was broken. And a few minutes later, someone else came up and gave our kids little toys. We attempted to eat at the hotel restaurant. We waited 30 minutes for appetizers. Drinks came after that. The server told us that my husband‘s chicken was taking a little bit longer due to an event, but that everything else will come out in the next couple minutes. His food came out with my children’s, but my food never came. Server was nowhere to be found and by that time I was upset so I just asked the bartender (I think. No idea who he was because no one approached our table until I was sending my family up to the room while I remained) to cancel my food and let me leave. Pool was smaller side but that was fine. However, guests weren’t following the posted rules about wearing swim gear. There were lots of kids in just underwear and pool attendant didn’t say anything to them about it. I didn’t feel comfortable letting the kids back into the pool again. I did try the sauna in the women’s room. It said it was 68C after the warm-up time. There was no way it was that hot. I left because it wasn’t hot enough.

Really good renovation and rooms are great. Missing a quality restaurant and The Treasury doesn’t quite make up for it. The music was too loud and the service too slow. But couldn’t fault the meal itself. As for Aster on L31, too far OTT, with ridiculous prices and the worst service I have ever experienced. Stay was average. Dirty headboard and pink mould in shower grout. Bed was really low to ground but comfortable enough. Housekeeping staff kept coming in and turning aircon off while we were out so room was stifling hot each time we returned. They also kept taking cups and glasses to wash and never returned them. Harbour view was obstructed. Could hear kids in the next room screaming and crying early in the morning. The staff at breakfast were lovely though and breakfast options were plentiful and hotel is close to public transport.

Positives: Early check in was smooth. Armani the front staff was very professional and helpful. Bed was comfortable, swimming pool had a nice view, breakfast buffet service was delicious and good. Check out was good - they helped with my luggage and provided me with takeaway breakfast for my family. Negatives: The baby crib they provided was old and run down. I asked for a replacement and it didn't work properly. There was gum under the table (unsafe for my baby that grabs things). Housekeeping did not take out my trash properly 3x in 9 days (I had many dirty diapers). Engineering staff walked all over my bathroom and got footprints everywhere, so dirty especially I have kids. To make matters worse, I requested a wake up call at 4:45am on a Friday, but they called me on Thursday unnecessarily waking me. There were a lot of internal miscommunication among staff in this hotel. For a 5 star hotel, it was only for the name and decor, but the internal staff really needs improvement to serve their customers. The standards were overall very low and did not meet my expectations. I was lucky to be able to meet the General Manager and she was able to accommodate my needs. I hope they strive to make better improvements for future customers.

I have stayed at the hotel 3 times in the last 2 years. I love the hotel's location and quality, but I was beyond disappointed with the comfort of the bed. I do not know what has happened, but it was the most uncomfortable hotel bed I have ever slept on. It was the same for my sister. We were staying at the hotel to celebrate her birthday and to enjoy a weekend away. I have been staying at the hotel for over 15 years on and off, and I was so uncomfortable that I had to sleep on the top of the bed on the comforter to give it some softness... I received a lukewarm and uninterested response when I raised this with the hotel.

Location fantastic Staff polite but not to familiar with geography of Sydney. Room comfortable but closet space is non existent if you need to hang cloths. Also very few draws to unpacking in especially if u are 2 people staying a week. Finally if you have some jet lag TV selection very poor

Great location, great view if you have the right room. Valet service is very nice and friendly. However, the soundproof of the room was mediocre. There's not much city noise but I can hear the gentlemen snoring at night from the next door. Shower water not strong nor hot enough. Some cleaning work can be done in some detailed areas, but only if you look closer otherwise I suppose usually people won't find the dirty area as easily as my picky eyes do.

Such a beautiful hotel and location. The view was absolutely magnificent from our room and really comfortable furnishings. Perfect location for Circular Quay and Opera House. What a shame that the service in the bar, at reception and the valet parking left ALOT to be desired. Made what could have been an ideal trip to Sydney for a family of Novacastrians a very upsetting. I won't be returning.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the exceptional staff at the reception desk, particularly Chris, for the delightful room upgrade in honor of my birthday. Furthermore, we were pleasantly surprised to find a bottle of champagne and a heartfelt birthday card awaiting us in our room, a thoughtful gesture from the hotel team. My sister and I were absolutely thrilled with our room, which offered a stunning view of the Harbour Bridge. The amenities and overall service were impeccable. We could not have asked for a more perfect experience and we certainly hope to return for another stay in the future.

Unfortunately not well organised - didn’t prepare our second room with the extra bed as ordered, even by 11pm when we returned from dinner after requesting the correction at 7pm when we identified the issue. Tried to double charge us with payment again at check in. Did not arrange the airport pickup we requested when we phoned ahead. Altogether not a great experience at The Intercontinental this year.

While the property is in an excellent location and the structure is well kept, the beds were very uncomfortable unless you like sleeping on very hard mattresses. The room phone has a service button if you need anything. However, the service is really bad. Whether we asked for a bellman or housekeeping…the service desk never followed up or told us something was going to take 10 minutes when it took an hour. When you arrive at the hotel the bellmen leave your bags outside without putting name tags on the bags and it was very disorganized. Visiting Sydney - I would never stay at this property. The Four Seasons and other hotels are a few blocks away.

The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of the Sydney Opera House, the Sydney Harbor Bridge, The Rocks, and a number of excellent restaurants. The property is well maintained, and the rooms appear to have been recently renovated. We would definitely stay here again.

Located in Circular Quay, the InterContinental is handy to everything. All staff were very friendly. The room was spacious and very comfortable. The black out curtains gave us a chance to sleep in, too. A great long weekend.

We were in Sydney for the marathon, and Intercontinental was conveniently located less than half a mile from the Opera House and The Rocks. This hotel is probably the best smelling hotel I’ve been to! I really loved the ambiance, interior and decor. The staff was very nice as well. On most days, my family (with 2 young kids) walked to shops and restaurants. I’d definitely visit again.

Excellent Room and bar service. The hotel is beautiful inside. The breakfast service is slow and clumsy, having to queue to be taken to a table when there's empty tables in front of you. Also coffee takes for ever to come. What's wrong with getting your own? They don't tell you you need to book for drinks on the roof when you check in. Bit disappointing for a hotel of its calibre

Faultless stay. Perfect location, fantastic rooms, nice bar area. As a seasoned traveller I’d say the breakfasts are amongst the best I’ve ever had. The breakfast area is busy but the staff cope admirably. Highly recommended if travelling to business for pleasure or business.

Hotel was fine but the problem was with every aspect of their Food And Beverage. Breakfast was a mess, plates not cleared and important to get help to order anything. Lunch was worse but the absolute top off was the disguising part was the evening event dinner. Poor food, dry salad and cold mains. Dirty plates, no clearing of dirty plates and desert plonked on top of dirty dinner plates. Service was rude and disorganised and the plate has insects crawl off it. Shocking for an expensive hotel. Total let down.
