The Coast Inn has great shuttle service between the hotel, the Anchorage airport, and the various seaplane operators in the area. The rooms are clean and the beds comfortable, although the pillows are hit or miss. While we were there, the Pipers restaurant was grossly understaffed, making eating there disappointing.

Perfect place to stay if you just need a place for a night close to the airport. They have 24 hour shuttle to take you to the airport, so we were able to drop off our rental car and get a ride back, and take the shuttle at 430am for our flight out with no issues. The restaurant on site was great too. Just very convenient if you need a place to stay near the airport. One thing: they do NOT have an elevator so you have to bring your own bags up flights of stairs.

The Coast Inn at Lake Hood was very convenient to the airport. The staff was friendly and very accommodating. They allowed me to store my fish in their freezer until time for my departure the following day. This was done without an extra storage fee. The hotel was clean and safe.

Great restaurant with outside seating to watch the water planes land. Food was excellent. Staff at hotel friendly and helpful. Great room-darkening curtains and hvac was great for white noise. Shuttle was prompt!

The property was slightly hard to identify at night. Parking was in rough shape but plentiful enough. Check in was made difficult with a recent offloading of cruise line customers. I booked this site so that I’d be closer to the airport for an early departure, which overall was not worth it. The hotel was fine but seemed very expensive for what I received.

The property is a bit tired but it is reasonably clean. The fitted sheet on the bed had a hole in it and the shower had a lot of buildup on the grout. Despite being near the airport, it was pretty quiet. The restaurant on site was convenient.

Lobby and hallway carpets have been updated. Everything else, including our room was very dated. Light fixture above bath sink ready to fall off wall and bulb over tub/shower not working. Shampoo dispenser empty. Also, while clearly marked no smoking, the room reeked of smoke. As to be expected next to airport and Lake Hood there is plenty of plane noise. I suppose if you get a good rate this is all tolerable but we paid quite a lot and it just not at all justifiable for what you get.

Room smelled of cigarette smoke even though we signed a no smoking policy. This was once a smoking room and no amount of fumigating is going to remove the smell unless the room is gutted, carpet and furniture removed.

Really the only problem is that soundproofing was poor and every noise from units above and nearby seemed to reverberate. Hallways were very long, and having security posted by the exit at might seemed a bit creepy. However, the location was convenient to the airport yet adjacent to a lake with many docks and seaplanes. The room was comfortable and the dining room was surprisingly pleasant. Great option for the Anchorage airport area.

Minutes from airport and no noise. Also Lake Hood for float planes right across street. They put a $100 hold on your credit card for amenities. This is a large old sprawling property but seemingly well cared for. Signage directing one to his or her room is very poor. The desk person handed me a key and said your room is through there not mentioning whether right or left. The room was large but lacked a desk and chair or luggage rack. The beds were amazing however and the bathroom comforyable. There is an attached restaurant which has an outdoor patio overlooking Lake Hood. We had breakfast there and would return in future. I'd also stay at the hotel again if passing through for just one night.

It was an ok place for the most part. However the front desk did give the key to my room to someone else when I was already in the room and asleep so that was a catastrophe and I pretty much had to solve it myself. Walls are thin and you can hear your neighbors and mine were awful. It sounded like they were constantly moving around furniture in there or something. Very noisy. The restaurant has average food at an above average price. The service in there was atrocious. It should NEVER take 22 minutes to get one beer when there is only one other person at the bar and 3 people sitting in the restaurant. But it does here. The bartender with the green hair could have cared less about being efficient and attentive and the woman with the purple hair who I assume is a manager was even worse and had zero concern about the people sitting at the bar with absolutely nothing in front of them. It is the only place around to get a drink or food on a snowy icy day, so maybe that is why their service sucks so bad because they know that people are kinda stuck there so they will just have to wait. However, Jenn that works the bar is FANTASTIC! She is the exact opposite of the green hair and purple hair women. Those two could learn from Jenn- especially that manager. I checked with Jenn for her schedule so I could make sure I only went back in there when she was working. That woman deserves a raise and could probably teach the staff a thing or two!

Front desk lady, Rose was not friendly or helpful. Made me wait over 5 minutes while she just typed on her computer without even telling me hello or I’ll be with you soon. After what felt like forever she said she would be with me shortly and made me continue to wait while she did whatever she was doing on her computer. There was no one else there she was helping. It was awkward, I’ve never been treated that way checking in before. Room was so so not that clean, water damage on ceiling over bathtub made it look like there was probably mold and the ceiling was bulging.

There was nothing around the property for dining or entertainment. The hotel only had a very noisy, crowded sports bar, which mediocre food and nowhere near enough staff. Food was good once it finally arrived. This is the first hotel I've ever stayed in where I felt nervous as a solo female traveller. I was put in a ground floor room about as far away from the lobby as you can get. No answer at all when I called for the shuttle from the airport, so had to take a cab. I chose this hotel for the airport shuttle - won't do that again. For the expensive price of $390/night I expected more.

The staff was wonderful...cheerful, helpful, professional, and friendly! The location is lovely, with a walking trail around the lake. Its close proximity to the airport was great for our early morning flight! Pipers, the on-site restaurant, is so convenient with a great vintage ambiance. The experienced and knowledgeable staff serve delicious, unique, and varied meals at very reasonable prices! This property was established forty or so years ago, which mostly adds to its charm. It has been well kept, but could stand a little updating in areas. Overall, we very much enjoyed our stay, thought it a good value and would certainly stay there again!

The first staff we dealt with was grumpy and made us wait an hour to check in. While another group came in and she took them right away. Not impressed about that. 20 minutes later another person came off the shuttle from the airport and she got waited on as well. That’s when I got in line again. Finally we got our room. No apology for the delay.

I booked this property due to the ease to Anchorage Airport but more because it was sitting at Lake Hood. My husband loves planes and having the seaplane hub as your backdrop and a place for morning walks, made him ecstatic. Everyone we came in contact with at the hotel were courteous and kind.

It's fine but nothing special. Being near Lake Hood sounded cool but it's decidedly not spectacular and there's not much to see there. It's near the airport so that's a plus but not close to downtown Anchorage.

Great restaurant! Piper’s and the planes taking off and landing were fun to watch. Great Bloody Mary that my sister had! Chicken fried steak was tasty, not too greasy. Room was large, rugs were a little old, but beds and bedding were very nice!

Very sweet and helpful staff. Free shuttle pickup at airport and they were right there when we walked out the door! Loaded all luggage and unloaded and didn’t want a tip but we gave him one anyway. Great restaurant on property called Pipers. EXCELLENT SEAFOOD, service and we loved Jesse the bar tender. Breakfast was DELICIOUS and I’ve never been givin 5 pieces of bacon before! lol.
