A great hotel for a few reasons: - 12 noon checkout time! (everywhere else seems to be 11am or even 10am these days) - Very friendly staff, literally no exceptions. - Spacious room; clean, well-appointed bathroom - Onsite parking ($16.50 with in/out privileges)

One of 2 elevators was broken so getting from floor to floor was time consuming. I liked the size of my room, the bed was very comfortable, AC worked great and was very clean.

Been staying here severals times before. Always pleased with the hotel and a great spot to do things. Convenient parking underneath the hotel. 5 minutes to the 405. 10 minutes to DowntowN SM witg a car or 30 minutes by foot. The breakfast isn’t the best but there are a few places within a few blocks. This time I had som issues with bad cleaning, other peoples hair inside the bathtub and the sink. Will of course stay here again!

The Gateway hotel has a great location, and is the most reasonably priced hotel in the area. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. However, the bathroom had a persistent odor of mold, which was unfortunate. On the nights I stayed there, the rooms were very noisy at night. I could hear multiple parties/conversations going on late into the evening, and a very unhappy baby sharing his thoughts with all of us well into the night. Perhaps more insulation between rooms would help. And lastly, while I appreciate the hotel providing breakfast for their guests, the offerings for the meal were genuinely the saddest I have seen at any hotel or motel I have ever stayed at. A few boxed cereals, some stale granola bars, some tired fruit. There truly appeared to be no effort made at all, which was a disappointment. Now, with all of this, would I return to this hotel? Maybe, just with a better understanding of what to expect.

Staff was amazing, breakfast was fun with the pancake machine but nothing special. Rooms were great and location as well. The problem was that the balcony outside our room on the 4th floor was lit all night, and the plantation shutters weren’t effective. The room was still very brightly lit and made it hard to sleep. Front desk has one person that was rude and didn’t know her job! They were annoyed that we asked if we could check in a couple hours early but they make everyone wait till 3 which packed the small lobby! Bed and pillows and blankets were uncomfortable and breakfast was grab n go and it sucked and started late in the morning! Parking is $15 a night not included in price. Not impressed with their amenities , housekeeping was nice and fast

Very friendly and helpful staff at check in/out. I appreciated the non skid mat in the shower, the toiletries, and a well lit mirror over the sink. I ate at Socalo next door and it was amazing - highly recommend. The parking fee was very reasonable for the area. I highly recommend staying her and will return if in the area again.

I appreciated the cleanliness of the property and hospitality when initially been greeted. Did not appreciate frequent disruptions in the morning. Checkout was listed as noon but was awoken by housekeeping twice, hours before checkout despite having a do not disturb sign attached on the door. Both times were asked if we were checking out today. Got a call as well asking us if we were going to checkout soon even though we had half an hour till checkout. Felt very rushed to leave even though we have stayed here before and checked out on time. Did not appreciate being woken up early and disrupted constantly.

The location of this hotel is excellent and convenient to many attractions, restaurants, and shopping areas. It is safe and clean and the staff is excellent. Parking is easy, below the hotel. Breakfast is typically continental, providing oatmeal, yogurt, cold cereals, granola bars, bananas, oranges, cold boiled eggs, and freshly made pancakes with syrup, in addition to coffee, milk, and Swiss Miss instant cocoa.

Great facility with easy access to underground parking - ideal for downtown location with no street parking/parking lot. Sanitary seal on bathroom toilet a big plus. Staff for happy hour at next door restaurant (under separate management) were really welcoming and helpful, great food also! Hotel was further from the beach than we thought based on info provided on Expedia site.

Great location for Providence Saint John's!! 1.5 blocks away and fairly safe for walking to and from the Hospital. Plus Restaurant alongside SoCalo - the Street Bowl has mega Grilled Veggies!!! And the Open Breakfast bar is great to crab a bowl of cereal, yogurt, fruit & coffee!! Definitely a Great Value overall

This hotel is clean and functional. While the decor is all clearly new and well maintained, the style is a bit dated. Think pastels. Staff was friendly and helpful. They shut down loud music in the room next door within a few minutes. Breakfast was not impressive, however neighborhood is convenient. Famous restaurant next door and a great little coffee house across the street.

When you first check in it isn't that bad. The rooms are kinda small once you enter. Hallways are very dingy. It's suppose to be non smoking but it smells like pot and smoke even in the room. Once the tv is of you can hear everything next door and top room from neighbors. The morning of our first stay there fire alarm went off because one of there soda machine shorted and it was smoking. We were able to cancel our second night thankfully. Breakfast was also sad, cereal, milk, hard boiled eggs. pancakes were alright. It seems like people live there on the regular. So just be aware of that. We moved to the Marriott down the street a little bit more pricy but worth it.
