Stayed on a Tuesday night with my fiancé just for a something fun to do in Asbury. We had a great time and absolutely loved hanging out by the pool. Great drinks, quiet, and relaxing. We’d definitely stay here again.

the staff were friendly and helpful—-the pool had a club vibe, which was interesting, location is great. general areas very clean, room was fine. We did not get the valet parking since free parking was very walkable distance away. The rooms are pricey for what is included (pool just marginal, gym outdated, no coffee maker in room or complementary drinks/afternoon snack ). In general, glad we had a getaway here.

The only real thing this hotel has going for it is it's proximity to the beach. We've been coming here for a decade, every visit we're told they are "renovating" yet the only things that change are sloppy changes to the lobby, restaurants etc. The pool is up and running again, which is nice, but it is still dirty. It's noisy. The rooms are old. The "black out curtains" had so many rips/tears that it looked like we were sleeping in space. It's like every corner that can be cut, has been. When you are paying premium beach prices, this stings a little. We do change things up and stay at other hotels in the area, we really want to like the Berkeley more than we do but it keeps disappointing us.

Our stay was fine. Beds we're ok. Hotel was quiet. Blackout shades definitely had holes in them. A lot. No available electrical outlets. We had to unplug lights, fridge, etc just to plug in a phone and those outlets were behind furniture. Room felt dated and the "updates" looked like cover up jobs, not actual updates to the rooms. Pool liner was peeling and bubbling. Loud vacuuming at 6am. But still a solid location, walkable to the beach and Asbury Park shore.

Location was perfect. For $1200/night the room was unfortunately in pretty poor condition. The bedside tables were dirty. The bathroom railings were rusty. Shower was showing a good amount of wear. I was aware it’s an older hotel but truly our room was not in good shape :(

The room wasn't cleaned up to standard, there were stains on the bedside table and bathroom. The shower didn't drain and safe had a low battery indication. There's also terrible insulation. Everything in the hallway and close rooms can be heard as if it's in your room. On Saturday afternoon of our stay there was a barking dog that was heard for over two hours, thank goodness we left for dinner so we didn't have to endure the barking anymore. Sunday morning we were awakened by a crying baby sound and again left to the pool so we didn't hear it anymore. Hotel needs a lot of improvements and upgrades. We expected more for the price we paid for this type of property.

We stayed here a few years ago and it was pleasant. It's never been the cleanest location but service was usually good and the convenience of being close to the beach/boardwalk is great for the price. It seems that management may be different from when we last stayed. Maintenence of the place seems to be less a priority and the cleanliness even less so than last time. Every surface in our room had cup rings, we found hair in the bathroom upon entry, and some small but noticeable things in the room were damaged cosmetically. The wait for check-in was also longer than usual. I'd love to see the place improve and flourish so I can give it a higher rating next time we stay.

I’ve never left a review in my life. Especially not a bad one. I’m not usually picky and pretty easy going. But I was SO disappointed by this hotel. The tub didn’t drain, the floors weren’t clean, the curtains looked like mold, the bed was hard as a brick. All the vending machines were empty. The bartender was literally clueless and their pizza was awful. I paid over 450 for ONE NIGHT in a standard room. And $60 to park. Crazy. I’ve never in all my traveling been this disappointed. I wish I was exaggerating. Book elsewhere. Like literally- anywhere else. What a waste of money

My stay was nice. However within in the two days I was here, the maid never cleaned the room. She dropped new towels on the bed but never took the old, never emptied the garbage, never made the beds, never cleaned up which was disappointing. This has never happened to me anywhere else I’ve stayed. Kinda disheartening considering the price we paid for the room. Cleanliness overall of the room in general was okay, not the best. Again, for the price, I expected better.

Great location, easy walk to boardwalk, ocean and restaurants, nice inside with cafe, bar, etc. I must have gotten a bad room (maybe because I asked to check in early?) My room had soiled carpet, some disgusting gooey spot on the bed frame, dirty windows and the handle on the bathroom door kept falling off. Scratches on most the furniture and a rip in the bedspread! Parking is not easy to find during the height of the summer, and they take advantage of that and charge almost $100/night - just to park my car on the street around the corner! I’ll find another hotel next time I travel to Asbury Park.

The hotel is in a perfect location and easily accessible to many different spots in Asbury Park. The room itself was large and comfortable, the shower had decent water pressure, the bathroom could use a major overhaul as there is not enough counter space to put anything. The room was also lacking outlets I had to unplug a bunch of lights to use the outlets. There is also no coffee pot in the room. What I hated is the hotel makes you wear a stupid wristband throughout your stay to know you’re staying with them. This is so ridiculous and impractical. Elevators also need to be upgraded as they are making a bunch of noise and shake a bunch.

We had a deluxe king room with full ocean views and stayed for a week. The views were incredible! Super comfy bed. Three of the lamps had no switches, so we had to control them by unplugging. The a/c worked for a day, then stopped. We overheard folks on the same floor saying the same. The fitness room was well equipped, but the weight bench could be replaced, and there were no towels provided. I would stay again, but after having a thorough conversation with management!

Everything is walkable. The pool is great. Missing some personal touches. The front desk charges for an early check in even when a room is available. There is a $25 fee for WiFi which doesn’t work very well. The fee is also for bottled water and towels which are standard at hotels. The breakfast options during the week are limited, but for a getaway at the beach, it’s the best option. We would return back. We always enjoy our stay.

The service was completely lacking. I specifically asked about valet parking when I made my reservation yet when I arrived Valet said lot was full. You had a wedding &a conference. Don’t book business if you can’t fit it. I slipped him $20 bucks just to keep my car up front because I had to leave which I specified at 5:30AM as I was managing a 5K in the area. I wasn’t gonna walk to a lot alone at that Hour OR go hunting for a car in the semi darkness. When I went to check in the front desk lady had left. There was a very nice lady who filled in, the same woman who owns the gift shop &restaurant, but I had to wait 20 minutes for the person who knew how to check in to return! I was already tired having been on the 5k site for 12 hours. The next morning I came down at 5:30 and there was no one at the desk again. My husband and I were shouting “hello hello hello” in the empty lobby for 10 mins. I needed to get my car and had no idea where my keys were. I had a 6 AM meeting with the police in town and I could not be late. Finally some guy came back schlepping coffee urns and said he was sorry he had to go make coffee. How ridiculous! Have somebody else make coffee. You don’t leave the front desk unattended. BTW we also never got our wake up call. I made my meeting literally by 1 minute but did not need the extra aggravation. Only thing this hotel has going for it is that the rooms are nicely furnished and large compared to the bare-bones IKEA style of other properties.

I am very, very disappointed in the way I was treated at Berkeley Hotel. We were in the middle of hurricane Erin and could not leave our hotel beaches were closed. Pool was closed. Boardwalk was closed. Several shopping areas were open, but we had to drive to them. If we moved your car we would have to pay for parking all over again. Berkeley hotel did nothing at all to entertain us. No events planned in the hotel no complementary lunch or breakfast. Nothing was planned to accommodate our guest during the hurricane. I am very disappointed. I have asked to be credited a day because I was supposed to check out on Friday and due to staring at four walls for four days I decided to check out a day early also to add the four days that I stayed we had no maid that came in to clean our room make our beds give us clean towels I had to go to the front desk and ask for towels, garbage bags tissues, and so forth I am very very disappointed and also to add Expedia did not help me at all and try to get some type of help and getting some type of credit I would never book through Expedia again nor through Berkeley hotel

We had a good stay at Berkeley Hotel. The property is clean and the amenities are great. We didn’t get to use the gym or the pool, but the proximity to the beach is fantastic. Some areas for improvement: 1) Better training for staff - On two separate occasions, we were dealing with two staff members who were very friendly but didn’t really know what they were doing (front desk and pool). 2) Towels for the beach. Our group consisted of women from LA and Vegas, and we all took the NJT train from NY Penn. None of us had beach towels, and the hotel’s policy of not bringing hotel towels to the beach posed a huge inconvenience for us. 3) Bell service and doormen - when we arrived (via Uber from the NJT station), no one greeted us, or offered assistance with our luggage, despite there being 3 gentlemen sitting around by the front doors. Not a great first impression.

From start to finish Juan welcomed us in Valet service with a smile! Dan checked us in quickly & happily . Hamza & Dimitar kept our tummies & glasses full with delicious food & cold drinks. We enjoyed the pool & our beds were very comfortable. We will be back & recommend the Berkeley for sure!

The bellboys and valet drivers were wonderful. The front desk staff were not very helpful. Didn’t want to ge bothered. I received no info other than my room number when I checked in. I had to call to have my room cleaned as well. All in all the hotel is good and we would stay again. The pool staff needs a little help as well.

Our first time is Asbury Park and the Berkeley Hotel did not disappoint! Staff was so accommodating and friendly! We opted for the valet parking , however it was 75.00 a day and off site. There seemed to be a lot of metered parking available near the hotel so my advice is check for parking around the hotel before you commit to off site parking. So close to everything! You can’t go wrong with this Hotel.

Service has gone down in recent years. Used to be a fun trip staff was always gracious and accommodating. We were harassed at the pool by an employee who insisted that we were on lounges that we had to pay to sit on. This was on a Monday morning pool was fairly empty, plenty of available seating. This was so uncalled for and unprofessional. After the fact a sign was put up at the entrance that some lounges had a fee. The damage was already done. Totally wrong to treat us this way. Later in the day same employee harassed us about towels on unattended chairs. Eventually complained and was offered two drinks, big deal. An apology from the employee was have been more meaningful. Sadly I will not return to the Berkeley again.

My fiancee and I loved our stay. They had a wonderful pool with a bar and offered food as well. They did have cabanas to rent out which looked nice. The hotel room was simple, nothing fancy. The hotel had some cool rooms in it that we explored with cool backdrops. The bar we did not go to as we were there for a short stay, but it looked really cool and had a pool table. The cafe was delicious and we enjoyed it in a beautiful outdoor space by a calming waterfall and fish pond. It was super walk-able to the boardwalk which had many places to eat and drink. We are excited to come back and stay again!

I was surprised by the generous size of the room and the beautiful view. We have stayed at the neighboring Asbury Hotel and this was much more spacious and a better price. The staff is super nice and liked that we had a bar and breakfast place on site. Nice walk to restaurants and boardwalk. Would like to stay there again. Would like if the rooms had a refrigerator. It’s not totally up to date but it is comfortable and I appreciated the space vs the update but tight and uncomfortable space of The Asbury

The property had everything I needed. Earlier coffee shop opening would be an improvement. Earlier pool opening would be an improvement. I did not like all of the additional fees (resort etc.) which were excessive. Also, $90. for overnight parking is a big turn off when there was ample parking in the area. Make that a better competitive rate for loyal customers who stay multiple days.

The hotel would not serve decaf coffee in tge lobby nor in their restaurant. We stayed for 3 nights. Each morning I complained and asked to talk to the manager. He came out and said that they never serve decaf coffee. So my husband and I had to walk up to the Boardwalk 3 mornings to get our decaf coffee. Very, very disappointing!

An interesting building with a great history has been reduced to lipstick on a pig. The only employees with a sense of professionalism and service were the valet parking team, and at $90 per day, they had better be. While our room was quite spacious, the window treatments were stained and filthy, and one armchair was held together with scotch tape. Worse still was being awakened at 2:00 AM from a room party one night, street partiers another. The bars look nothing like the website photos and are tired and old. For the supposed sports bar, the televisions showing old Westerns were ridiculous. Lastly, a casual breakfast served in paper boxes was $55, and our pizza in the sports bar was served on cheap paper plates. This hotel might think they are a sophisticated oasis in Asbury Park, but we would argue it is anything but.
