Comfort Inn & Suites

I have no complaints. Coffee and water available 24 hours, and a place to sit and read early before breakfast. Outdoor area with fire pits for relaxation in the evening was very nice. The hot tub was out of order

Rooms were clean and spacious. Great hot breakfast. Pool was nice. Hot tub was small.

The whole time we were there, the hot tub was broken. The reason we booked that hotel was for the hot tub after hiking.

They advertise a swimming pool and hot tub. My husband and I booked a week's stay there. We paid a considerable amount extra to stay at this hotel over others for the hot tub. Their website does not tell you that they close it for the season September 1st. They were unwilling to refund any money. They tell you breakfast is served 6 am to 9:30 am daily, but the food is completely put away by 9:10 am. I guess you could ask the employee to get you some but who wants to do that. Overall, not much different than an Econolodge or Motel 6.

Checking in was easy and fast and the attendant even offered advice on where a car wash was and gave us some bug remover to try. Really appreciated the EV charger being available. Didn’t have any issues with stall being available. Ice maker on 2nd floor wasn’t working but others were and the elevator made it easy to get.

We had a long stay in Custer to see all the sights. During our stay we had a variety of housekeeping. All days the towels were changed but only one day was our coffee resupplied. One day the bed wasn’t even made just new towels. Breakfast options were pretty much the same thing every day. I did notice while there that there were two clocks on the wall in the hotel lobby area and breakfast area that were not working (stuck on the same time) for the whole time we were there. I know it’s a small thing but it’s attention to those small details that would indicate exceptional management. Initially when seeing the breakfast clock I thought we were running late and then checked my phone time and realized that the clock wasn’t working. :/

The front desk staff was amazing. Ryan was courteous, friendly and helpful. Other than the front desk, there wasn’t much to brag about. Hallway and elevator carpeting was dirty and looked like it had been vacuumed last year. We got fresh towels daily, our friends next door didn’t. There was no Kleenex tissue in the Kleenex container after the first day. The room was relatively clean when we arrived but other than the bed being made and towels beings replaced, nothing appeared to be cleaned. At one point I used our Listerene to wipe the toilet and sink area. We only had the breakfast once, we went to local restaurants after that. We have stayed at Comfort Inns before and probably will again but it won’t be in Custer.

Looks new but very run down. Room carpet very dirty. Staff was friendly but breakfast could have been way better.

Found a big cockroach in the room. There was a 4 inch by 12 inch swatch above the tub/shower not painted. Checking out the receptionist would not print us a paid invoice.

Unclean rooms. Urine on toilet in room as well as a soaked towel in the tub upon check-in. Room also had a strong wet dog smell. Won’t be back!

They didn’t clean our room or replenish towels for 4 days. I had to ask 3 times to get them to come do housekeeping. Even after asking them, they didn’t come for 2 more days.

I checked in on Wednesday July 23rd and my room did not get serviced until Saturday the 26th where I had to call the front desk 3 times and ask them and then room service showed up at 4pm to clean the room when I had returned from a long day. Also why do you have smoking right outside the front door of the reception? Guest should not have to walk through second smoke because people are allowed to smoke right outside, It’s disgusting and awful to do it all the time. I spoke to the front desk about it and he just smiled and yes there is nothing they can do.

The area looks good, the hotel looks good. But the minute we enter our room, there was this wet smell. We thought it was the carpet. But come to find out, it was the curtains. We didn't realize it until sunlight shine through the next morning. There was molded all over the thin curtains. The A/C unit only have 4 setting. Low/high fan, low/high cool. It was either too cool in the high setting, or not enough in the low setting. There wasn't any temperature selection. And everything that's going on outside, you can hear it in the room. Bikers meet up can be a rough to get some shut eyes.

Rooms comfortable. Some minor maintenance needed.

They should consider getting new mattress

Very enjoyable stay. We rested well and enjoyed the town of of Custer very much. The hot tub was a bit small and the jets too over powering. Bed could use an update

The beds were so comfy! It was a quick stay for us but it was clean, safe and nice.

The Hotel in general was nice and conveniently located. The issue that I have is that I have travelled for 25 years and this is the only Hotel that dont allow motorcycles to park under the overhang in the night hours, the lady was very rude when she ask us to move as it was a fire lane. But there were no signs posted stating that it was fire lane, until late that day, after she was rude to all of us.

Frankly, when we were planning our vacation to the Black Hills , we hesitated in selecting Comfort Inn. We had a negative view of the Comfort Inn brand as having outdated decor and facilities, disinterested staff, substandard cleanliness. Despite these percceptions of Comfort Inn in general, we ultimately selected the Comfort Inn in Custer because it offered a competitive rate, it was ideally located for our interests; and its online presence felt believable. Boy, were we wrong! The Comfort Inn in Custer single-handedly convinced us to change our perception of the Comfort Inn brand. The Custer property was clean, convenient, and appe8aling as we drove in. The front desk staff were dressed professionally, were welcoming, and appeared genuinely committed to the hotel's success. Our room was clean and very comfortable. Even a minor maintenance issue was addressed immediately. Our room faced the hill behind the hotel. As my husband was looking out the window, he said it would be nice to see deer or other animal grazing on the hill. I thought it was an odd thing for him to say and , I just shook my head. I know this sounds crazy, but the next day when my husband was having coffee and looking out the window, he excitedly called me to the window. Yes indeed, there were five deer directly facing our room. I'm not joking. Now that's customer service. The Comfort Inn - Custer ROCKS! We now have a very positive view of the Comfort Inn brand thanks to the Custer team.

Arrived early for our check in & was told to return in about an hour which is fair enough. Having returned as asked to, was told room was still not ready. We requested a quiet room preferably on the top floor (previous experience of stomping feet & general noise in previous hotel stays) but was told there were no more free rooms and anyway “there are no families here as it’s not school holidays”. While we waited sitting in reception at least two families with children arrived & were given keys to their rooms. When after over another 1/2 hour of waiting we were allocated our room on the ground floor to find we had a family with young children above us who sounded like a herd of elephants running up & down their room. I do not appreciated not being told the truth ie no families staying. The breakfast room had numerous families with young children staying.

I would never recommend this hotel. Upon checking in clerk was not welcoming, rude and just ignored us. Hotel is old and dated. I will never stay at Comfort Inns ever again!!

Our room was good until the toilet quit working. We told the front desk staff on Friday morning when we left for our day out and about and when we came back that night it still wasn’t working. We had to walk down the hall to the main hotel bathroom every time we had to use the toilet. Not a fun experience.

The only thing that I would recommend is at the 3:00pm checkin time, have more than one person at the desk to get people checked in, in a far more timely fashion. 10 people waiting to check in and just one attendant just doesn't cut it.

Grat place to say in Custer. Easy access to Custer State Park and Sylvan Lake.

Property was well maintained and in a good spot for Jewel Cave and Custer State Park.

Area was close to dining and attractions

this hotel was the perfect place to stay if you are going to custer national park, mount rushmore and crazy horse. just minutes away.

We will be back next season! Great location for all things Custer and Keystone. Hiking in Custer State Park was great!!

In a quiet locate at the west end of Custer City. It is not walkable to the main area of town, but we never had any problem finding a parking space. It is very close to Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Needles Hwy, Wind Cave etc. Room was spacious. Hotel offered a good free breakfast

We had a nice stay but your morning coffee was really bad. Tasted like coffee flavored water and the creamer was curdled. I had to go to the gas station to get coffee.

Overall the experience was great and my friend and I visited many places in the area. The free breakfasts were good. On the downside there were people in the adjoining room who were loud from around 6 am until 11 pm or a bit later. whatwhe

Check-in was smooth, breakfast area was clean and well stocked with good variety. Most importantly, the beds were amazingly comfortable. If I’m ever in the area again, this is the hotel I’ll stay in.

This was a nice spot with friendly staff and clean facilities. The only thing I found lacking was the breakfast, mostly because there was not a single piece of fruit to be found. It's hard to eat healthy foods when traveling but I can usually snag an apple, orange or banana.
