Large reception, bar and restaurant area.

I like this place, was glad see it back busy. Clean quiet convenient. Close to major supermarket, Cardiff and Newport close. Staff are great. Not a lot facilities, no gym or pool but is what it is. I’ll be back there Xmas and looking forward to. Make sure you register car though….there’s enough signs reminding you but don’t forget

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Good sized room, dog friendly, our pup even received some gifts and a ball that he enjoyed. Not much space around to walk your dog (as hotel is located in an Industrial estate) but a short drive or walk you have a National Trust property that is just perfect for that. Great breakfast that was included, we also had some meals (served after 5:30pm) which were good. Very pleasant staff and clean surroundings.

Brilliant hotel, we stayed for a night when visiting Cardiff. It was a pleasant surprise! Very easy to get to and close to Cardiff. The rooms were clean and the staff and manager were so kind and friendly. Free parking with ample spaces. The highlight for me was the buffet breakfast which was included in the price of the room - brilliant selection and great food!

Clean and comfortable room has air conditioning which you can set as required, bathroom has a decent shower with Dove soap/shower gel and shampoo, good breakfast selection, friendly staff and free parking.

A very clean hotel, a little out of town but quite with good parking.

Nice clean hotel ideal for the traveller just staying a night or two. There are limited options for diner but in saying that the pub next door is just across the carpark the breakfast menus was of the usual fair but good quality and maintained/ replenished up to a standard ( only hotel we've seen a staff member actually check the food temperature)

Very clean, tidy, plenty of staff on hand, all very friendly and welcoming. Beds and pillows very comfy, but only double size. This wasn't a problem for us, we're just used to bigger at home. Breakfast is included, self serve buffet style, hot and continental, so bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs and beans, toast, croissant, mini muffins, cereals, fruit, yoghurt. 24hr bar, pizzas and snacks also available 24hrs. More menu options available in the evening until 9, normal pub stuff like burgers, curry and rice etc. 20 min drive into Cardiff, pub next door, Asda 5 mins away for any essentials. The hotel is just off the M4 at junction 28 and the A48 runs on the other side. You might hear some traffic noise if you have the windows open. It didn't bother us, but we live close to a motorway, so are used to it. Would certainly use again.

Needs some repair on the room. Water drips from the heater/air-condition. The lifts smells wee. There are visible dust in the room too (lamp, table)

Check in was easy, kind friendly staff. I had to stay with my 13 year old son in a twin room as my Dad was unwell in hospital. I needed to book another night stay but had to pay £70 more than the previous night for the same standard twin room. I just payed it as my Dad is in hospital after having a heart attack. The first room smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. 2 of the lights didnt work and there was a splash of something white and foamy on the wall next to the bedside table. I hoped it was some kind of cleaning product. The second night we were moved to a new room thankfully. Other wise breakfast was lovely and staff were friendly.

Nice note saying the room had extra cleaning but sorry not good, had to give the sides etc. a wipe down because of visible marks, dust and finger prints.

The awful smell of the carpet was a very bad experience for us in both rooms right from day one. Though the staff tried spraying with some fragrance, but it made the bad smell worse. Staff teried

The staff was polite and the place was clean and quiet. But was surprised the room got neither a fridge nor microwave, I wil recommend these items be added to the rooms.

Our room was spacious, pillows comfy, mattress ok, bedding smelt fresh, bathroom almost sparkled, carpet clean and furniture and accessories were as new. Hotel reception staff are friendly, well presented and helpful. Hotel breakfast was hot, tasty and reasonably varied. Nice bar area with limited food options with some good meal deals. There was a good selection of confectionery and soft drinks sold behind the bar.

Great customer service at reception and breakfast very friendly. Double Bed very small so didn’t sleep well.

Nice one night stay at this location. Breakfast was above par. Air conditioner in room leaked condensation badly. Just open the window.

My stay was very good, I liked the breakfast service and the quality of the food and coffees. The room is clean and tidy but very small to accommodate two adults and two children. The air conditioning keeps stops frequently and we felt hot overnight. I still recommend it and it’s good value for money. The location is perfect for those who want to go to Newport or Cardiff as it’s less than quarter of a mile from the motorway.

We have stayed here a few times over the last 4-5 years. Staff are very friendly and there is a vibrant atmosphere in the public areas. Room was clean and quiet with all the facilities we needed and the breakfast provided was varied and a big bonus. The only reason I’m not giving 5 stars is that the double bed was quite uncomfortable due to a dip in the mattress. This was a shame as even budget hotels now offer king sized mattresses and bedrooms are refurbished regularly. I wonder whether the bed needed a refresh?

I arrived at the hotel just after midnight following a long drive. The staff were friendly and helpful from the start, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the experience with the room left a lot to be desired. The first room I was placed in had a heater that did not work. After reporting the issue, the front desk moved me to a second room. That room also had a non-working heater. They attempted to activate the heat remotely from the front desk and asked me to return to the room, assuring me it should be working. I tried this twice, but the heater still failed. I even took videos of the unit and showed them to the staff to confirm I was operating it correctly. They acknowledged that I was and agreed that the heater was not functioning as it should. Eventually, they offered me a space heater, which I used for the rest of the night. Again, the staff were polite and tried their best to assist, but I was surprised that two completely different rooms both had heating issues. The staff mentioned they believed there was something wrong with the hotel’s heating system overall, as the units would power on but shut off almost immediately. While I appreciate the effort of the team and their professionalism, this was not the experience I expected, especially arriving late and just wanting to rest. I hope the hotel addresses the heating issue for future guests, as this made for an inconvenient and uncomfortable stay despite the staff’s best efforts.

Bed not great, rolled in to the middle of the bed! Hair dryer not good, then stopped working completely!

The sofa bed was not that comfortable and two people couldn't sleep comfortably on it otherwise it was a very good experience.

My room was facing the motorway, very noisy at night time. No double glazing windows?

Natalie was extremely helpful when we arrived. She didn't realise we had a dog but changed our room and our dog got a welcome pack which was a lovely touch... the hotel itself had a great vibe to it which is what i needed as i was visiting my sick daughter at the university hospital of Wales. Great breakfast. Good night sleep... Will definitely stay again. Thank you to Natalie for going above and beyond.

The staff were wonderful - friendly, welcoming, helpful (even lent me a phone cable because I'd forgotten mine!). The hotel is modern, clean and comfortable and you can't ask for more - especially for the price! Complimentary breakfast was better than plenty we've paid for!

It was wonderful, couldn’t fault the staff and the service. Very family friendly and the breakfast was spot on! Always loved staying at ny holiday inns - express or main as you always guarantee the best and most hospitalble service… by far NEWPORT division exceeded it all! Well done.

Hotel is so so but staff, particularly blonde lady at breakfast buffet was exceptional. Kind, welcoming and extremely generous in her hospitality.

The staff were amazingly helpful and friendly. They went over and above to help us have a pleasant stay. However, even after being changed to a different room (with a different brand of bed), the sleep experience was still atrocious and my dear wife was in so much agony every morning.

The staff from the time we walked in until the time we checked out were amazing so helpful and approachable 24/7. I will most definitely be back.

On the M4 Motorway, near Cardiff and West Country.

It was a cosy place.it is far away from the train station and from the city centre. There is limited transportation from the hotel to any place in newport..only one taxi service was available, no uber. The price for sat and Sunday stay was too high. The price for Monday was right for the service provided.

Comfortable stay in predictable Holiday Inn Express environment. Close to M4 yet quiet. My Son loved a trip over to the Porsche showroom over the road and they were very accommodating. Breakfast was busy but well controlled. Just a shame (not the Hotel's problem) that there are no late night public transport options from Cardiff. We went to a concert but had to drive back.

First thing : the hotel isn't in Newport. It's just off the M4 on an industrial estate. So there is traffic noise. It's a 10 minute drive into Newport. There's one pub next door that closed at 6 on a Sunday evening. Food selection at the HIE were reduced "due to staff shortages". Expensive food. Parking space was good but ludicrous system of registering your car vi's photographing a QR code. Staff were pretty neutral rather than friendly and welcoming. Room OK but lighting dim. I was underwhelmed overall and would stop in a Premier Inn or Travelodge in a more convenient location and pay for a better quality breakfast.

Lovely welcome by the staff, unfortunately in the middle of an industrial estate so not much to do in walkable distance, but great for an overnight stop.

Like all Holiday Inn express hotels this was well run. It was great to have breakfast as part of the price and the breakfast was very good. We ate once in the evening and the meal was very tasty but could have been bigger. The bar service was ok but had to wait a while sometimes while someone was at reception. Overall a good experience and we will use Holiday Inn express in the future.

Stay ruined because the restaurant next door was closed, so we tried the restaurant in the hotel. The food was disgusting. Highly processed rubbish. The "green vegetables" on the menu, were whitish grey and hard and rubbery. Been in the freezer for a few years before whatever was done to them at the hotel was done. Skin-on fries, did not have any skin on, and I wonder if they ever had been potatoes. Re-constituted muck. And as for the Hunter's chicken... words fail me. Maybe what was a chicken breast had been beaten to a couple of millimetres thick, coated in some thick disgusting batter, deep fried and coated with a sickly sweet sauce.

Great location, nice clean hotel. Room was spacious enough and clean. Staff were all brilliant - really good quality customer service. Only negative was that the dining area was too small to cope with a full hotel at breakfast time, so recommend going for breakfast at unpopular times otherwise you will have to wait for a table.

Room was clean and well made up. However we did have to ask for extra pillows. Breakfast was ok. Limited options on eggs (only scrambled) veggie sausages wasn’t very nice. My son loved the pancake station. Downside was they started clearing the breakfast away exactly at 9.30. We didn’t know and went down at 9.10

Booked along way in advance so very good value for money. The staff were excellent even with a late night bar. Fair choice for breakfast and it was included in the price. The evening meal was disappointing , quite bland and dry. Overall very impressed.

The only one thing I would comment on is that the scrambled egg at breakfast is pretty powdery, where once it was nice.

Good clean hotel with many free parking slots. Only little not-so-good thing is they don't have enough plant based breakfast options and sadly they dont' serve hash-browns at all leaving the breakfast incomplete
