The Relais Henley

The fairly recent renovation has transformed this lovely building and offers considerable comfort and facilities. Elegant lounge and bars. Pretty coffee shop serving good coffee and good 'home made' snacks. Our bedroom was very comfortable and as our stay 'fell' in the middle of a very hot period the air conditioning was really appreciated. The hotel is managed very professionally by the affable, Andrew Oxley who has a very friendly, helpful team The position within the town and overlooking the river make this an excellent place to relax and enjoy Henley and its beautiful surrounding countryside. We will return!

Lovely Hotel, we had a wonderful greeting at reception from a gentleman who gave us information regarding parking local area, and the pantomime that we were here for.

Well appointed hotel right by the river and close to the centre of Henley with all its shops and eateries. Very friendly receptionist who made great recommendations for dinner and made reservations. Nice bar with a good selection of wine by the glass. Breakfast was buffet style and/or extensive hot options. We stayed in a room in the courtyard which was most pleasent although did take a while to warm up. No car park but the large CP at the railway station is only 5 minutes walk away and only a few pounds for the whole weekend. Definitely worth a stay.

Lovely location overlooking the river. However if you book a river view room ask for the second floor because there is very little privacy on the first floor. Passengers in double decker buses waiting for the traffic lights to change can look straight into the first floor windows. There is a very quiet lift to the river view rooms. There is no parking at the hotel but the station car park is quite close by and only £6 per 24 hours when we stayed which is quite reasonable.

Relias Henley is very well located for the town centre, yet the rooms were super quite. Staff were very friendly especially the more mature staff. The hotel is close to the waterfront, and has very limited parking ( 2 public bays at the front) meant check in and check out ( moving bags in and out) was a fiddle. We got our step count up simply walking to the car and back, That aside great hotel , breakfast was plentiful and great value for money , evening meals were good although would have preferred a wider choice . having said that its super close to many other eating options,

The welcome at the hotel for check in was very good. Sadly we were advised there was no parking when in fact there is several spaces in front of the hotel free from 6pm - 9am. They recommended the train station parking but there is convenient on street just around the corner. The location was very central with a great pub opposite. The barman in the hotel bar was also very knowledgable about the drinks and pleasant. The room itself was quirky - not the best design, and more a 3* than 4* based on my experience. The views were of a church wall from the room - for £150 we expected a bit more. The bed was comfy, and the drinks provided plentiful - however there was only one breakfast teabag and 4 green tea! Not what I would call balance. We were looking forward to breakfast following reading the reviews - but what a let down! There was a human hair in my spinach (not popeyes may I add!), and the waitress offered to replace the spinach!! In the end my plate was left with me and some new spinach, veggie sausage and beans brought to me half an hour later!!!! By which point the tomato, mushroom and scrambled egg was cold. This really should have been dealt with a lot better as it’s completely unacceptable from a hygiene standpoint and for the price paid the hotel wasn’t value for money. The room was pretty noisy - but this was due to one guests music and chesty cough, so not the hotels fault. Toiletries so old the description had rubbed off, wouldn’t return sadly.

We found all staff to be excellent and really helpful with nothing being too much trouble. Our room was lovely and very clean with a turn down bed service. The breakfast was excellent and breakfast staff were particularly good. Great location and not too far to walk to wherever you need to get to in the town. The only negative I would say was the noise from the local pub which was loud until the early hours but that’s not something the hotel can control and it was a Saturday night. Next time we would look to book a courtyard room away from the main road and river if travelling at a weekend.

we have just returned from a weekend stay and can highly recommend the hotel. Very clean and well kept staff ultra friendly and helpful and a really great experience.

Lovely room over looking the river. Nice little touch, welcome card from person who cleaned our room, and bed sheets turned down in the early evening. Beautiful old hotel with great vistas. Breakfast was superb.

We were in the room I asked not to be in it was tatty looked out on a wall I booked a few months ago so was shocked when given that room The service and general feeling of the whole place has gone down hill

Excellent location, With beautiful views over the Thames. We received a warm welcome on arrival. Our room was spotlessly clean, breakfast was plentiful. lovely grounds and bar.

Beautifully decorated rooms with very high quality bedding. Quiet and effective AC. Very nice breakfast.

Staff were excellent Breakfast & Dinner superb but the room was very disappointing and not value for money.we had chosen a premium room with a river view, the river view was a very, very tiny dorma window only viewed if your were 6 foot. There was a beam across the access for one side of bed so we had to leave the bathroom light on all night in order not to crack your head.The TV was to the side of bed so impossible to watch this was not a premium room with a river view

A lovely hotel but sadly the river view rooms come with considerable morning noise from traffic. Also staff did really explain hotel facilities and to the extreme we were told that breakfast was only 7:00am to 9:00am!!

The room we were offered should NEVER have been rented. There is an extremely low beam running through the room. You need a ladder to see out of one of the windows, the other one is useless. The hotel has a lift that only services some rooms. The rest of the hotel rooms require navigating several flights of stairs. So if you have heavy luggage, you are in trouble. They do not really have anyone to help you, so you are on your own. When we complained the person on duty said she couldn't do anything about it unless we upgraded to a much more expensive room, which we were forced to do for our own safety. Luckily we found Patrick, who was the only one who understood customer service at the hotel. He upgraded our room without a 2X change in price! I would not recommend this hotel.

Very spacious room and good view from window

A classic hotel with the ideal location on the Thames. The reception staff were all welcoming and lovely people. My room was beautiful and well' soundproofed, as I had a 2nd floor overlooking the bridge and did not hear any traffic sounds. Good night sleeps!! Squeaky clean. I loved the heated bathroom floor. The spacious bathroom was beautiful, stylish marble floor and walls, bright & cheerful. Highly recommend The Relais.

Lovely hotel, great setting and communal areas. Really loved waking up and looking directly out to the river Thames. Comfy bed and pillow, great bathroom with powerful shower. Good variety of food at breakfast. Awful, weak filter coffee served at breakfast which really let it down. Really needs a decent coffee machine.

The room was amazing. The bed was so comfortable. We stayed only one night, just a little break without the kids. I highly recommend. The bathroom was beautiful. Just what we needed

Staff service terrible. This was supposed to be a VIP hotel but didn’t receive any of the benefits.

Very nice hotel with comfortable, refurbished rooms that don't ruin the character of an historic building. Breakfast was decent with plentiful selections, although you might want to go earlier as it get very busy at 9am on a Sunday. We didn't try the restaurant but the menu looked excellent. You cannot do better in Henley in terms of location, it's right next to the Thames and famous bridge. The hand written note from the manager was a very nice touch.

The Relais is absolutely wonderful feom the moment you arrive. Fantastic location walkable to everything in Henley, beautifully updated yet historic and quaint property with extremely friendly and helpful staff. We didn’t eat or drink anything in the hotel because there are so many options close by. Will definitely stay here next time we are in Henley.

Excellent location and lovely room over looking the river 😊

The room was very nice, bed and pillows very comfortable. The staff were very good and service was excellent. I was very disappointed with the breakfast. I was expecting a fresh cooked breakfast, full English or eggs Benedict etc that the on line menu gave. It was a buffet breakfast that was cold and poor quality sausage and bacon.

Family room was convenient and clean, enough space for four. Breakfast needs improvement. Table was squashed in a corner with insufficient room. Food fine but not memorable. Reception staff were nice and helpful.

We booked a room with a river view, but we didn’t get it. My husband’s breakfast took half an hour to come. Wrong breakfast brought the first time. I asked for ham, was told there wasn’t any. Asked someone else and got some. I’d finished my breakfast before his came.

Fabulous hotel , great decor , location central to the town , dinner was excellent! The staff were very helpful and friendly . Highly recommended
