Great location, walk to beach or everywhere in town and more! Bed was very comfortable, hotel is old but spacious and parking can be a challenge, they have a parking lot but not enough spots for all guests so a couple of nights we were on the street but it worked out😎

Pleasant stay. I did pay to have parking and the parking lot it small. Most of the time it was full and the staff doesn’t keep eye on it much

The Pine Inn is a historic hotel. For the price we paid and location of the hotel-in the heart of Carmel, it was fine but I would not recommend. Rooms did not have fridges or coffee makers and very few electrical outlets. Biggest complaint was that sheets and towels smelled like wet dog. Cleanliness of carpet at furniture also questionable. No a/c which is uncommon in Carmel but our room was stuffy. Hotel did provide fan which helped. Also, parking is nightmare especially on weekends. We arrived Saturday afternoon and had to find street parking for two hours and then keep checking back until a spot was available on hotel lot.

Hotel is beautiful and right in the middle of town. However, the parking situation is awful. They have a lot across the street from the hotel that holds maybe 15 cars for the entire hotel. So I was left to find street parking which are only 2 hour spots and hard to find surrounding the hotel. So getting my stuff in and out of the hotel was kind of a nightmare. Other then that, it was a lovely stay

Nice property and friendly staff in a great central location, but the accommodations are small, no air conditioning, no elevator, and the designated parking lot was always full, so getting luggage up and down the flights of stairs and to and from the car was a challenge. Not sure I’d return.

Great location, those with health issues be mindful there is no elevator, they do have a bell boy that can help with luggage. Il fornio restaurant is literally attached to the hotel. Our king bed was comfortable, room was a little snug because of the chairs. We were on the 3rd floor, bathrrom was roomy with a closet and bathroom was decent size.

We booked an ocean-view room, parking included, for one night. They forgot to mention the scaffolding covering the view side of the building. Parking is available only for the first 20 of 49 rooms, so you have to drive around to find a spot and then move every two hours. The lounge looks lovely, but you cannot relax with a drink there, no food/drinks allowed, which is NOT shown on their website photos. It's an historic building, badly restored. Please see photos... The bathroom and closet are 2-star hotel level. It was disappointing and did not reflect the rating listed. We deeply regret following your advice.

Classic hotel in a convenient location close to everything there is to enjoy in Carmel-by-the-Sea. Our room was comfortable and well appointed. Only complaints were that rooms don’t have coffee makers and stair carpeting in lobby off Ocean Avenue should be replaced.

Great location on Ocean Ave. We paid extra for an ocean view. The hotel lobby is wonderful. However, the room was dirty, insects in the room, hair in the bathroom, medication on the floor. The bathroom looked like an old apt in desperate need of repairs. Our windows would not stay open.

This is a charming and unique experience in a historical inn. However, the history of the building was the only positive aspect of our stay. I was disappointed in the lack of care, attention and kindness of staff. The carpet throughout the entire inn needs attention. Our room was dirty. A pill and dirty a-tip on the floor, a candy wrapper on the chair and makeup smears on the mirror were not very welcoming as we entered the room. The bathroom door did not close all the way and there were deliveries and glass bottle noises below us right outside the window as late as 1am. Worst nights’ sleep we have had on our week long stay up the PCH. Disappointing for the price.

I booked pine inn because the neighborhood is wonderful, though the pine inn itself needs some updating. The property seems in poor condition. Room feels dirty very dated & worn furniture as well as brown dirty carpets and worn bedding. I paid for a ocean view which was blocked by scaffolding. Unfortunately it left me feeling taken advantage of being that I paid extra for the view. The staff seem tolerant but complacent. Parking is limited and you may have to find street parking as there is not much "free" hotel parking.

The Pine Inn is in desperate need of an update. Starting with the carpet on the stairs upon arrival. Not a great first impression. When we checked in at 4:30pm, they said let me check if your room is available…really? We had a few pieces of luggage and since we were on the 3rd floor with no elevator, they offered the bell boy to assist. After waiting 15 min at the bottom of the stairs, we decided to just make two trips. It was confirmed we booked the ocean view room and that it is one of the nicest rooms. Well, I would hate to see what the others are like. It was an old, plain white room with absolutely no design or color. The very tight bathroom was in need of a coat of paint and something, anything actually! We were there for 3 nights. Thank goodness the bed was comfortable and their restaurant was excellent!

Only positive , the bed was very comfortable. Room very noisy, thin walls, so could hear everything including an alarm going off at 12 am in the room next door. Door had a big gap, letting in light and noise. Bathroom extremely small. No counter space to place toiletries. Furniture and walls had chipped paint. Used water glasses not removed, just replaced. Lovely lobby but could not bring any food or drink into the lobby to enjoy by the fireplace. Stayed here for our anniversary. Expected more. Will not stay here again.

Pin Inn has a great location on Ocean street - we loved that. The Inn itself has a beautiful old-style court yard and building. However, the stairways to our room, the lobby, and specially the rooms are old. The walls are very thin and you can hear everything and everyone. The rooms are incredibly small. What really made it difficult was the lack of hot water in the shower. The sinks had plenty hot water, but the shower just had look warm water. For that much money per night, we expected more.

The hotel is very dated. The room smelled like an old man’s room. Bathrooms were clean, but I failed to read that there was no elevator or air-conditioning . Luckily the fan kept us cool but the second room we reserved had no air-conditioning and they could not sleep the windows don’t stay up. It’s so unfortunate. Location is good. Can reach to some good restaurants quickly. The room facility is clean. The pity part is, the room we had stayed had pretty bad voice isolation, we can hear next door's conversation very clearly.

I go a room with a view of the ocean, but there was construction going on so I couldn’t open my window during the day because I was not comfortable with the construction going on and because of the scaffolding. And the scaffolding was in the way of the view.

I would not stay here again. The room was very small and everything felt very old. There is no elevator, and we arrived with 5 suitcases but the staff never offered to help. The hotel itself is in a great location and looks very nice when you walk in, but the rooms definitely need a renovation

Property in need of major updates and maintenance. We had to hear constant maintenance sounds of hammering, trucks etc with no transparency that it would be taking place during our stay or concessions to acknowledge how much it detracted from our experience. Front desk staff appeared miserable and exhausted.

Although it’s located in a great location, the parking lot is across the street, so with levels and stairs, makes it not friendly for people with limited mobility. Housekeepers were sweet and kind. Wish I could say the same for front desk.

We have stayed here before, but this was our anniversary. After returning from dinner, a short while later there was a knock on the door and there stood a staff member with an ice bucket and a bottle of champagne! This place is an absolute gem. It is right in the middle of all of the art galleries, boutique shopping, and restaurants all within walking distance from the hotel. I honestly cannot say enough about this place other than this will always be our hotel whenever we visit the area! Five stars?...I wish I could give SIX!!!

The front desk check in process was terrible. Our reservation was lost and Jason at the front desk was combative, insulting and stated "you don't have to stay here". This was our anniversary weekend and my daughters birthday. We had reserved 2 rooms. I have never been so upset and wished that someone could be fired as much as I wish Jason could be as a result of his unprofessional behavior! It has taken me this long to get over the experience to write this review. Prior to this experience we always stayed at the Pine Inn.

The rooms near the street have trucks loading early in the morning. Avoid them at all costs. Some rooms have a smoky smell from the roof. The evening staff is very unhelpful. The day staff is very friendly.

This is a charming and unique experience in a historical inn. However, the history of the building was the only positive aspect of our stay. I was disappointed in the lack of care, attention and kindness of staff. The carpet throughout the entire inn needs attention. Our room was dirty. A pill and dirty a-tip on the floor, a candy wrapper on the chair and makeup smears on the mirror were not very welcoming as we entered the room. The bathroom door did not close all the way and there were deliveries and glass bottle noises below us right outside the window as late as 1am. Worst nights’ sleep we have had on our week long stay up the PCH. Disappointing for the price.

Very old hotel. No elevators, so be prepared to carry your luggage up 3 flights of stairs. Bathrooms are very very small. There is no counter space in the bathroom. Basically a toilet, a sink and a shower. The sink is a stand alone sink with no counter space. There is no air-conditioning so you will sleep with the windows open. The trash pick up comes by everyday at 6:20am and is extremally loud. If you stay here, don't plan on sleeping past 6:15am.

The inn is really quaint and cute and I loved the lobby. Biggest challenge was the noise. They’re having construction so we were woken up very early in the morning to the sounds of a loud truck and construction

Very nice property with a great central location. However, be advised, do not rent a room that is across the street from the parking lot. If you do you will be awakened with a cacophony of sound as the morning shift empties the garbage, garbage trucks pickup, and morning deliveries arrive. Toodeloo, otherwise enjoy your stay. :)

This is a nice place to stay. Conveniently located near all the shops and restaurants. The only drawback was we couldn’t drink our wine in the sitting room by the lobby. I am not sure why as it’s the perfect location to socialize with friends & family.

This is a good hotel. Excellent on sight restaurant. It's an older hotel but very well maintained. No major complaints other than room was small. Very quiet. No coffee maker in room and you have to walk across the street to the bakery which is no big deal. Unless you absolutely need coffee first thing in the morning due to your caffeine fixation. Anyway. I recommend.

There were not significant issues. I suppose I should have expected less than luxurious accommodations given the age of the property. My room was slightly musty and the mattress was lumpy. If your priority is being in the middle of the downtown area walkable to restaurants and shops, this location will work, but I can't say that I will stay again.
