Friendly welcome and quick check-in. This is essentially a B&B hotel, priced accordingly. Room was clean and had the usual facilities (kettle and tea/coffee making stuff, soap and shower gel, small but adequate TV). Bed was comfortable and I slept all night with no interruptions. My room was top floor (number 51) so a lot of stairs and I half expected problems with shower pressure and wifi range but no - the walk-in shower was plenty powerful enough and was still hot at 5:30pm and 8:30am, and the free wifi in the room was plenty fast enough for streaming (over 50Mb/sec download). The breakfast was generous and cooked to order. Adjacent car park is free to guests (a dozen or so spaces with only one empty when I arrived just after 5pm). Convenient 5 minute walk to the main street at the "top" of the town with plenty of places to eat (including a Wetherspoons in an opera house!) and about 15 mins walk to the "bottom" of the town and the Pantiles area. Some of the common areas in the hotel were rather worn and shabby, but these didn't spoil my stay and there seems to be a programme of renewal. I only used this hotel for one night B&B, so didn't use the bar. Overall, it got the essentials right and I would definitely stay again.

The service was fantastic and the breakfast was fabulous the next morning. The decor is dated. I dont like the bath shower set up. The chairs and curtains and carpets are all dark and old. Maybe have some music playing quietly at the bar. The single bed was not comfortable. My 1 case weighs 30 kg, no lift, steps everywhere you go, this is not practical for someone with luggage. The receptionist did ask a guest to take my heavy suitcase up the 3 flights of steps for me. The staff are lovely and really helpful. The photos are so deceiving. The shops are really close to the hotel, thats no lie.

Well situated hotel near the centre of Tunbridge Wells. Easy check-in, comfortable room.Small car park, which fills up early but once you realize it, parking is available on the main road nearby. The full English breakfast was excellent, staff were very friendly. Plenty of pubs and restaurants within 5 minutes walk for something to eat or drink in the evening.

The hotel is ideally situated in the town, but close to a busy road. The free parking was a bonus. But on the whole the hotel is looking very tired needs decorating throughout. Our room was ok, a long climb up a lot of stairs. It was clean enough but very basic! The bar didn’t appear to be open at any point either The staff were great and friendly, the only positive I can say about the place. If I visit the area again, I wouldn’t stay there

Stayed for one night to attend a party. Good price point, quiet hotel with 24/7 front desk which was really useful as could leave our room key. Dated and old, but things work and it’s in a great location a 5min walk from town. Parking spaces too!

Basic but adequate accommodation for the price. On site parking was free but limited and fairly tight spaces given a few works vans present. Good breakfast with excellent staff. Some areas require some sprucing up or maintenance. Nothing that could not be fixed with paint or varnish. Some rooms could be a little noisy due to proximity to a busy road.

I needed parking and the hotel has a free parking facility for its clients, a big plus. The staff was friendly and cooperative. The breakfast was as hearty as you wish it to be and service was prompt. The central location of the hotel was ideal. This quaint old-fashioned hotel does not have an elevator but knowing this in advance helps. There were no toiletries -minor inconvenience. The price was reasonable and the room and bedding clean. I had no need for any of its other services. If I had to return to the area, I would be content to stay there again.

There’s a handy car park at the rear of the property with video surveillance. Ideal for a biker. The staff are personable and friendly. I was made feel most welcome. The facilities in the room are everything you need. No complaints there. The building, fixtures and fittings are old and shabby. The carpet in the room has burns and stains. In need of replacement. The one no-no is that the cups in the room were dirty, with ring stains from previous beverages. I had to wash a cup before making a cuppa.

I would highly recommend staying at the Russell Hotel. It is situated just minutes from the town centre. The staff are warm and welcoming and helpful. The room and bathroom were both spotless. The bed was comfortable and made with crisp, cotton sheets. I enjoyed a good nights sleep. Breakfast was beautifully cooked and delicious.

The staff were friendly and the breakfast was cooked to order and presented quickly. We had booked a twin room and was given a room with three singles. The room was very spacious but very tired and tatty. The corner of the floor in front of the shower had a puddle of slimey water.The mattress protector on the bed i used was a little stained and one of the chairs was wobbly and the vinyl was torn. the Russell hotel is a lovely building and so much potential. A little investment and i would be happy to return.

It was good for a quick night away. Room dated, you can hear the neighbouring rooms. Tiny tv. Loo felt unsafe to sit on. The bed had a plastic feel sheet under the bedsheet which was noisy and strange. Issues, but ok.

We had a wonderful time here. The hotel was in a very good location, easy walking distance from the town. We had a lovely twin room, which was very warm. We were greeted by a lovely lady, but all staff were great. The breakfast was delicious. We would go back.

Unfortunately we were in the main hotel which is very dated. There was no proper blind on the bathroom windows which meant that people could see us when the light was on and it was dark. No privacy. The room was very dimly lit, the curtains were faded and the material was splitting .The bed was not too comfortable , the mattress needs replacing. Thecooked breakfast was tasty and served hot. The carpark was easily accessible Had no problems parking

This was a 90’s throwback. The decor hasn’t been touched since sponging paint and patterned borders. It needs SO much work. The guy on reception was clearly unhappy in his job and lacked customer service skills. The breakfast was ok but I had cold tea and no selection of pastries. The room was however very big and the location is ideal. I paid over £200 for 2 nights .. this is a shocking price for s very run down hotel. No lift access either so up 4 flights of stairs with a bad leg . I could go on about it but won’t. Definitely won’t return unless it has a makeover and a new receptionist

The Russell Hotel is a good place to stay very close to Royal Tunbridge Wells amenities and attractions. We stayed here because we were going on the Spa Valley Railway Cheese Train on the Saturday afternoon and the hotel was an close enough to walk everywhere.

We had a wonderful time here. The hotel was in a very good location, easy walking distance from the town. We had a lovely twin room, which was very warm. We were greeted by a lovely lady, but all staff were great. The breakfast was delicious. We would go back.

Well situated hotel near the centre of Tunbridge Wells. Easy check-in, comfortable room.Small car park, which fills up early but once you realize it, parking is available on the main road nearby. The full English breakfast was excellent, staff were very friendly. Plenty of pubs and restaurants within 5 minutes walk for something to eat or drink in the evening.

Stayed for one night to attend a party. Good price point, quiet hotel with 24/7 front desk which was really useful as could leave our room key. Dated and old, but things work and it’s in a great location a 5min walk from town. Parking spaces too!

Middle of summer so hot, we had the windows open. The hotel is near main road so noisy. If it's hot, I recommend you ask for rear facing room.

I would highly recommend staying at the Russell Hotel. It is situated just minutes from the town centre. The staff are warm and welcoming and helpful. The room and bathroom were both spotless. The bed was comfortable and made with crisp, cotton sheets. I enjoyed a good nights sleep. Breakfast was beautifully cooked and delicious.

Good property for staying in the centre of town. Our room was a very good size and well equipped with a small kitchen. Clean. The breakfast was adequate for my husband but little choice for a gluten free vegan.

This was a 90’s throwback. The decor hasn’t been touched since sponging paint and patterned borders. It needs SO much work. The guy on reception was clearly unhappy in his job and lacked customer service skills. The breakfast was ok but I had cold tea and no selection of pastries. The room was however very big and the location is ideal. I paid over £200 for 2 nights .. this is a shocking price for s very run down hotel. No lift access either so up 4 flights of stairs with a bad leg . I could go on about it but won’t. Definitely won’t return unless it has a makeover and a new receptionist

Despite the age of the building, everything was well maintained. The breakfast is very good and most importantly the staff were all exceptional. Helpful, attentive and pleasant. Will definitely stay again.

When i arrived the member of staff was welcoming but room was very basic but £85 i expect to be better then this the room needed decorating badly ripped wallpaper lumps in the wall carpet needed changing shower worked well but the decor needs upgrading as much im not in the room much should have the basics done so it looks inviting and comfortable and its at a prime location in Royal Tunbridge wells
