People working at the Royal were great. The hotel was a little dated and the room was missing a few bulbs for the lights.. it served our purpose and was in town close to everything we needed. Spent every night in the bar area, drinks and food were good prices.. for breakfast go to the Blue bell inn…

Good value, clean and friendly. Food good.

We booked this family room as it stated a double bed and two singles. We were with our two grandchildren a boy age 15 and a girl aged 12 1/2. Therefore single beds required. When we checked in we were told it was a bed and sofa bed. When I said no it’s singles they said we don’t have any. I said when booking it states that and their answer was it’s not up to date. The reception is hid away on side of basically a pub/resturant. It is dark and definitely needs refurbishing. When we arrived back from our event there was no parking as the pub was full. It is situated on a main road by traffic lights so no parking on the road. We had to park right up where the staff kitchen area was. There should be parking clearly marked for people staying there. It is somewhere I will never stay at again and anyone going to please double check what you are booking. I wish I had.

The Royal is a Green King pub. I would class it as an acceptable contractors hotel. Rooms are basic and adequate for the purposes of the team I had there working on a local site. The bar in the evening is decent, the food is OK and very reasonably priced, hot and tasty. Decent beer selection. Breakfast is "interesting" one lady who keeps telling us she is on her own and can only do a full english, no variation. Even asking for just some bacon to make a butty was out of the question but we did get Bacon, egg, sausage, beans, mushrooms, hash browns, even though we only wanted to make a bacon sandwich. We therefore left everything and just took the bacon. We found the situation funny but bizarre. We will stay there again as it's good value for a working crew.

Whilst the bed was comfortable , the decor with pealing wallpaper and a bathroom that quite frankly needs completely replacing. Mould , sink plug unattached , no mirror , just very outdated and needs renovation especially at £60 per night. Would I stay there again? Yes , but for £30 a night.

Nice enough hotel and bar. Did not like tge fact I was told payment had gone out for my room and it had not. Went out on the 30th. Also not happy when I got back after loading out with my band mates over the road and the bar was shut. Doubtful will stay again.

The welcme was good roomqas perfect and clean the food was brilliant

Stayed for work good price cheep beer. Food looked good at a good price didnt try it though as was knackered. All staff and patrons were very friendly and welcoming

I was not very happy staying at this hotel. The door to my room for the night was very scratched. Some of the wallpaper in the room was peeling. The hot water tap in the en-suite bathroom sink was falling off. I slept in my clothes because I was not sure how clean the bedding was. I was told before I went upstairs that breakfast would only be a continental breakfast because they were having work done in their kitchen. I did not go downstairs for breakfast. I think that this may be a hotel for the homeless or for immigrants. I will NOT choose this hotel if I ever go to Scunthorpe again.

The room was disgusting there was ppl smoking weed in there rooms uvcould smell it there was mould all in bathroom we was kept up all night with a couple fighting an crying i have a recording widows was borded up blood on walls the pictures on advertised page was deffo not the same as place wen we got there i asked for refund as it was a disgrace an was told no id never go there again an id tell others not to pay what thay charge im very very dissatisfied an upset it was very traumatising

Bed was the most uncomfortable bed i have ever slept on. It needs a overall. This is a excellent area for bath hall.. pub is lovley. But not the rooms. We spoke to others that had same experience.

There is staining in most of the bathrooms where black mold had been cleaned but has left a black stain on the silicone. It does not look nice and could be an easy fix. Nearly all the staff are great, friendly and helpful, but one lady on breakfast a few mornings a week is letting the place down with her attitude and lack of customer service. A great shame but other than that we are happy to stay there for working nearby.

Staff in the pub were great but everything about the hotel side was horrible. Surfaces were sticky , carpets really badly stained, everywhere smelt of mould, walls were crumbling, no hot water, cold water tap on sink didnt work, bed was clean but lumpy and the headboard was filthy worn and stained. Mould and rust in the bathroom, bedside lights didnt work . If I'd brought bedding I'd have chosen to sleep on the floor of my work van!!

Room not as described on Hotels.com with a king and a pull out sofa where a double and two singles expected. Hotel noted this was an issue with hotels.com as they do not have any rooms of this type. Helpful staff under the circumstances but sharing with a wriggly 5 year old was not ideal!

On checking I went to my room and there was no bulb in my over the bed light. This however was rectified within 5 mins. My only complaint would have to be that, in my room, there was no bedside table. Meaning that there was nowhere to put my spectacles or book at night and to put a drink.

Booked a room for a couple of nights for myself and my son as a last minute break to visit some family. The room itself was nice and warm. However, when we check-in not a lot of information was provided and the website does not state accurate times for breakfast which made us miss breakfast on the first morning that we had already paid for. Other than that, we've had no issues at all and the staff were very friendly.

Most staff were great but one particular woman was rather rude when we were double checking our sleeping arrangements. We booked a room for 3 with 1 double bed and 2 singles on arrival we were told it was just 2 doubles, we was happy to suck it up but the lady we spoke to was very aggressive and even said she was going to cancel the booking because she only saw it on the day despite booking 5 weeks prior. Rooms desperately need a refurbishment but did the job for a boozy stop over.

There were some maintenance issues that the staff said they had been waiting over 3 months to get fixed via head office

The staff were lovely but the room wasnt what we were expecting. We had to clean the bath before we could use the shower, the windows barely opened and there was no way to control the temperature in the room which was very cramped and roasting. In the morning we were informed we couldnt have a cooked breakfast as they hadnt allocated kitchen staff for the morning.

Dreadful, huge amounts of noise from inside the hotel, walls like paper, floors that transmit the vibrations of people stomping around and doors slamming, was woken up at 4am on arrival i checked at reception cost and time for breakfast and was told £9 and 08:30, this was repeated later by bar staff. 0830 in the morning told very rudely by manageress? no breakfast, staff training day, and when complained about noise and disturbances was all but told tough. I will be complaining directly to green king and requesting a full refund for the stay, it totally ruined the reason i was there due to lack of sleep. also the toilet was ridiculously close wall and bath, just crammed in the small bathroom

This was my third stay at The Royal Hotel. The beds are really comfy so I slept like a log. It is an old building and has lots of character. The hotel is near a supermarket, town and local shops. I will definitely be staying again. Thanks to everyone at The Royal hotel

Stay was ok handy for the visit to the baths hall, the hotel reception hallways and room I felt were really tired and in need of refreshment.

Great location, lovely breakfast

I only stayed one night but it was comfortable, quiet,close to amenities and the staff were pleasant, nice people .

I enjoyed my stay, not the first time I have stayed here, but nice tha the receptionist remembered my face (not sure if that is a good thing). Nice to be able to have a bath as well. Only observation, other than the loose tap, was the glass shelf above the sink, that had one thing missing, the glass shelf !!. Prices were good and the breakfast was also good. I will be staying there again
