From first point of arrival our stay was relaxed. Receptionist was so helpful in helping to find space to park our cars in the car park which was busy. Gorgeous relaxing beer gardens. Well kept and beautifully styled with flowers and plants overlooking the church and historic buildings yet so near to shops. Beautiful place. Outdoor bar was a great bonus too. Our room was a twin and quite spacious. Felt liked a valued customer overall and will stay again in the future.

We had a 3 night stay the dog-friendly Crown, Stamford in a Signature Plus double room and loved every minute. The Crown is conveniently situated in the town, with its own gated car park (first come, first served) so we were able to ditch the car and walk everywhere with our two furry friends. We were lucky enough to have beautiful weather all weekend and our trip unexpectedly coincided with the Stamford Garden & Food Festival, a great (and free!) event literally a couple of minutes walk from the hotel. Stamford has lots of great independent shops and restaurants as well as the usual chains. We had an excellent meal at the Crown (breakfasts were delicious too) and all the staff were lovely - no one could do enough for us. One evening we ate in the Toby Norris, a 13th century pub in the town centre that we later discovered was also owned by The Crown. Again, delicious food. We did venture out in the car on our last day to a couple of local-ish, dog-friendly garden centres, Blue Diamond and Dobbies in Peterborough - both dog-friendly and came home with far more than we left with! We’ll definitely be going back to Stamford and when we do, we plan to stay at the Crown!

Lovely overnight stay and breakfast. Staff lovely - receptionist so helpful . Parking was a godsend but could better signposted. Crown has a nice outside area and is very stylish decorated. Stay was great - we were in Townhouse. Only criticism was mirror in bathroom . Ideal for most by being 5ft 1in could not use !!!

Everything was spotless and all done in a tasteful way. Staff and food were excellent. Location could not be better. Soundproofing between rooms was a bit lacking due to ‘energetic’ guests next door!!

Excellent - comfortable and very clean room and bathroom; breakfast is served in quirky bar downstairs and is excellent - they bring everything to you. no elbowing other guests out of the way over the muesli bowl (only joking!). Hotel was clearly converted from a house, it is easy to get most between, bar, hotel and reception.

It was all wonderful right from the check-in, the staff are all very friendly, welcoming and helpful. We stayed in a well lit and very tastefully decorated and sizeable room, with comfortable beds, two small armchairs and a coffee table. The bathroom was well appointed with a bath and a large shower head. There were some nice extra touches as well, a small bottle of milk on arrival and later in the stay, plus bottled water, plenty of teabags etc. The food at breakfast was very nice too. The situation is marvellous, a short walk to the High Street and the Wetherspoons and other pubs/restaurants. Stamford is a lovely town with a great atmosphere and a park very near the centre. Burghley House is a short drive or a walk of just a few miles if you are a lot younger than us! We didn't get to Rutland Water, but we will go next time - because we definitely want to go back. All in all a brilliant break, hopefully to be repeated a few times at least.

I spent the first 5 years of my life in Stamford and decided 75 years later to spend a few days rekindling the remembered affection. The Crown proved to be the perfect base for walking around the town and fleshing out so many half remembered images. there is a lot that is just the same, Passages, the River and Meadow, and of course the Churches, but there is a lot that was new. So Stamford scored well, but the convenience and standards set by The Crown went well beyond our expectation. We particularly noted the cleanliness of everywhere and everything and the generous service received from all the staff, both face to face and in the background. Lovely clean room with good quality toiletries. Very good breakfast which included a gluten-free full English for me. We loved the outdoor courtyard and the decor. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Parking was available which was very helpful.

We had a wonderful time. All of the staff are so very helpful and friendly. The room was exceptional, comfortable, very clean and beautifully presented. The food in the restaurant was amazing. The restaurant itself is also very well presented.

Nice room and lovely shower. V nice staff Good breakfast. Right in middle of Stamford so great location. Asked for a quiet room but we looked out onto an area with air con piping which you could hear but not at night. Also lots of people walking past on creaky landing.

Absolutely lovely hotel. The staff were all so accommodating. Beautiful rooms and comfortable beds. My only suggestion would be for the hotel to look into portable air conditioners for the rooms. The first half of my stay had abnormally hot weather and a portable air conditioner for the room would have made sleeping a bit more comfortable at night. Other than that, a lovely stay, stunning patio and excellent food

Nice cosy hotel despite the noisy restaurant downstairs which closes quite early so not an issue. Small room but well appointed. Could do with better sound proofing - someone in another room was snoring and we could hear it all night. Good breakfast.

I regularly stay here for an overnight and I really like The Crown. I was in a cosy room on the top floor and it was lovely. The room is clean and whilst small, great for one person. It maybe a squeeze for two though. The noise as it faces the road was not great at 11.30pm but there was an added bonus of a ceiling fan which meant I could close the window and have some air. The only major downside is that the walls are thin and unfortunately someone had a very bad cough. Breakfast was great. I’ll be back!

When we arrived at our booked hotel we were told we had been placed in the town house across the road from the main pub/hotel. We were escorted to the accommodation and informed as we arrived we had been placed on the top floor of the building (3 storeys up!) My partner and I decided to see what it was like first? The stairs were narrow and did not accommodate the fact we both had luggage to take. There was no lift and we found it difficult to navigate the stairs as my partner had knee pain. The lady who showed us to the room was polite enough but left as soon as we had the key in the door. The room was very clean, beautifully decorated and tidy and the small bathroom accommodated a large walk in shower. Being on the top floor the room was incredibly stuffy almost to the point of unbearable. There was a small sash window which we had to have open for the entire stay. We both had a very poor sleep as the bed mattress was too soft and made the walk up 3 floors arduous! We stayed for one night only and had breakfast in the hotel the next day which we felt was good and well cooked. If you book this hotel be sure to specify your requirements as we found it was not suitable for “older” people who have health issues.

After a week of hotel hopping, it was a pleasant surprise to walk in to a room that was well appointed and clean. the vibe of the room definitely met the expectations of "old town" Stamford. The room was clean. had plenty of room, and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was roomy and blessedly well lit. The only thing that I did not like was that there was not a shower. It was just a bathtub. If it weren't for this, I would have given a 5-star review.

The only thing that was a concern was that the Townhouse property we stayed in had a windy staircase to our room in the basement, and was a little way from the main hotel, so if was rainy we had to make sure we had protection when we went for breakfast. We would certainly stay there again but would make sure we booked a room in the main hotel.

The Crown Hotel is fabulous! Beautiful place with great staff and facilities in a perfect location. The only issue was that our standard room had very thin walls and we could hear the person next door snoring all night. Also, did wornder if Room 7 was above the kitchens as think the Chefs / kitchen staff had their radio on loudly around 7am which we could hear.. Would definitely stay again though, in a higher graded room.

Lovely room, bar and restaurant and excellent food. However, what made the visit extra special were the friendly staff who made us feel so welcome. Must give a mention to Toni on reception who went above and beyond to sort out my booking when I accidentally reserved on the wrong date!

Our top floor room was very attractive, particularly liked the electric control in the shower, and the wonderful view of the church next door. A couple of the evening waiting staff were a bit off hand, but the breakfast was excellent, and the breakfast staff delightful.
Our top floor room was very attractive, particularly liked the electric control in the shower, and the wonderful view of the church next door. A couple of the evening waiting staff were a bit off hand, but the breakfast was excellent, and the breakfast staff delightful.

The staff were amazing, from the helpful lady at check-in to the gentleman offering to help with our bags as we were bringing them down the stairs, to the wonderful cleaning lady who chased after us because my husband left his wedding ring on the nightstand. Can't say enough about what a pleasant stay this was. And the outdoor eating and seating area is beautiful. Great location.

I was suprised at the room space considering the cost of the room. It was very small The service at breakfast was very poor and we were in the restaraunt for an hour before the food arrived with coffee taking about 30 minutes. I wouldnt complain if i was paying alot less but when it is an expensive stay you expect to get a service that matches

A lovely hotel which is very well located in Stamford, The Crown is near the main shopping street and many restaurants. It is also within walking distance of the Burghley estate. The rooms are beautifully decorated and very comfortable; our room faced out onto the street but the thick curtains ensured that we were not disturbed by the lights. Breakfast was very good and the staff are courteous and efficient. We arrived at check-in time and managed to park in the hotel car park, but it is quite small and I think it would have been full if we’d arrived much later. However, this is still a great hotel which I would highly recommend.

Everything was spotless and all done in a tasteful way. Staff and food were excellent. Location could not be better. Soundproofing between rooms was a bit lacking due to ‘energetic’ guests next door!!

Beautiful hotel in central Stamford. Close to shopping restaurants and sightseeing. Easy parking to the rear of the premises. Stayed in the town house just across from the hotel. Very quiet, peaceful location. Excellent highly recommend.

Excellent location, right in the centre and the hub of things. Pleasant staff however the location is busy at night and with a pub outsude seating area in the alley which our bedroom overlooked, it was very noisy. I would choose a different room next time.

The hotel was fine but the restaurant was fairly expensive for a pub. Also breakfast choices were very strict. At the price we’d paid for the room I thought I could have a bowl of fruit before my bacon sandwich. Big nono!

Parking was private and secure. Very comfortable and quiet room. Staff always friendly and very helpful. The restaurant menu was small but well balanced and the food excellent. The full English breakfast was one of the best I've had. Access to town easy - everything within walking distance. I will certainly be staying again and will recommend to friends.

From the warm welcome on arrival to the fabulous full English before we left, we had a great experience at the Crown. The room was beautiful, freshly decorated with excellent bathroom and White Company products. All the staff were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We skipped our normal rule of not eating in as the menu was so tempting, and didn’t regret it. The lamb shank pie is not to be missed. Altogether an excellent choice.

We had a lovely comfortable stay. Lovely bar area, attentive staff, secure parking, great room and wonderful beer garden. The only negative feedback is 1 - the coffee in the rooms are not great. This day and age, Nespresso all the way. 2 the breakfast. My partner had the avo and smoked salmon. Wonderful. I have the full English and it was quite cheap. Sausage was great quality but the rest was substandard. BUT, we will be back. Oh, and absolutely tip top location!!!!
