The Richmond Hotel - Adelaide

The room was great. Room was large. One of the quietest hotel rooms I’ve ever been in. Bed was so-so. The foyer, and hallways were a bit off putting. The room keys SUCKED! Ours failed constantly no matter how much we babied them. Very annoying and inconvenient as there is no staff on after 6.

Great venue to stay in central Adelaide Very clean, well serviced with extremely helpful reception staff. Taxi access for guests requires short, cross pedestrian street walk but otherwise excellent accommodation to access central Adelaide. Has on- site excellent restaurant at normal food prices and easy access to Coles and Woolworths stores on easy pedestrian only walk from Hotel. Good internal lift system and security locks. For an 80 year old couple it met all our needs most adequately

We were given another room straight away once we brought it to the attention of the receptionist. However a clean room/bathroom is expected from the get go. Accommodation was easily accessible to anyone passing by. The locks to our room were very outdated and no barrier for any random to access.

Arrived very late but check-in was pre-arranged and went smoothly due to the efforts of the day manager who was outztanding. At midnight the restaurant was long closed but there is a 24 hour Hungry Jack right down the street, so we survived until morning. Great breakfast in the hotel. Watched the Super Bowl in the lounge and complimentary snacks were served.

Spacious room, close to museums and shops. There was hot water issue, though staff worked after hour, we didn't have hot water the first night, only a bit warm the next morning, and back to normal the second day when we were back from an activity. There is no temporary visitors parking near the hotel, need to park in Wilson park first, if would be helpful if instructions can be provided prior to the check-in

To start with, the staff were great, friendly and helpful. We had accidentally booked the wrong dates but they helped us change them without affecting us financially. This is where the good side of the stay finished. Our room was freezing cold and the heating was not working (in the middle of winter). We couldnt get a change of room due to bookings so were given a couple of bar heaters but they still didnt help make the room any more comfortable. In the bathroom we never touched a cold water tap and the water was barely hot enough for a shower. The ceiling in the bathroom still had raw spak and plaster that hadnt been sanded back and painted. Walking around the corridors it was evident they dont get vacuumed often with paint flakes and dirt on the floor. On Saturday we went to the restaurant for a couple of drinks but wasnt able to as it was reserved for a function so we went to bar in basement only to have this shut at 6pm. Previously mentioned function had live music playing so loud we couldnt be comfy in our room or sleep. In the past we would confidently book at the Richmond and trust it would be a good stay, but over the last couple of years this trust and comfort has eroded and we will be looking elsewhere in the future as it feels its gradually going downhill.

Location good however works overnight in mall at hotel entrance was very noisy. No restaurant was disappointing. Excellent was coffee, milk etc daily. Probably wouldn't stay again as light into room and mall noise was too much. Room size is great. Reception was very helpful.

The property was an old Hotel with up grades .Clean friendly and just a lovely unique place to stay. We would atay there ever time when visiting Adelaide.

City central was handy. Inhouse restaurant was not open on days that I stayed. Loud industrial noise (? garbage collection) woke me several times overnight. Access cards are problematic. There are multiple written & verbal prompts given on how to protect them, but mine still failed - fortunately during office hours so it was fixed promptly.

Incredibly helpful and welcoming staff. Large, clean rooms. Accessible.

The whole process from booking to cheicking in to checking out was very easy and smooth. Staff answerd any questions we had. Room was clean tidy and comfortable. Highly recommend and will be definitely be returning.

Checkin was non existent. Office was closed over busiest time of year. Receptionist was off until the new year. Finally got to the executive room which was supposed to be 2 beds. Old, shabby and dirty. Too awful we left. Do not stay here.

great value and a very comfy bed

Our room was spacious and good for a few nights of being in one space as a family. The fridge was very small and had broken components and the room would have benefited from a microwave. There were plenty of seating options, the bathroom was large and the cooling was effective. Overall, a lovely, convenient location to stay with old world charm.

Right in the middle of the City convenient Probably getting a little tired looking.

Very good hotel. Bed was very comfortable and the room was extremely quiet.

Disappointed our window looked out onto a wall and the restuarant was not open while we were there. Receptionist was lovely and very helpful. Room was nice and clean.

All our stays except for 1 have been perfect here and we will continue to return. The staff were empathetic when we explained the faults with our last stay and we felt ensured that we wouldn't experience them again and our last stay showed this, was very happy with it. We love the location and the size of the rooms. Thank you Richmond for another relaxing stay.

A large very comfortable and well appointed room in the heart of Rundle Mall, suited me perfectly for a quick trip to Adelaide. I will definitely stay there again.

Location was good however the restaurant was not open the two nights I stayed for dinner or breakfast as advertised, room was not made up on first morning despite request, staff were quite dismissive on check out.

The room smelt of either vomit or BO and when we tried to contact reception about it at 4pm there was no one on reception despite it saying reception was staffed til 7pm. We also had trouble with the room key at midnight and had no way to contact anyone for help leaving us extremely distressed about where we were going to sleep.

The location is great. The reception staff, Michelle was exceptional. Her communication about the property and the events taking place prior to my visit was informative. A great stay!

Good location I did not aware the check in time end at 6pm, thank you for the hotline staff for spending 20mins to help me get a room.

Hotel has no reception on sundays, so need to do after hours check in. No signs etc where keypad is? After hours phone number just kept disconnecting. Room was old. Bathroom cabinet door fell off.

Great location for my corporate office that I was visiting. Check in was simple.

Great location and considering where it is, it’s relatively quiet. It’s a bit annoying that the front desk isn’t open on Sunday’s but it’s only a small issue.

Great property! Convenient location! Construction nearby but it wasn’t an issue.

Convenient for shopping & dining in the CBD. We stay here regularly while in the city, & love that we can walk everywhere.

The room is near the rundle mall and there was noisy at night with around pubs and walks.

I can't give a fair review. Being woken before 6am by banging and construction noise was not great. Mentioning it on check out and being told it wasn't meant to start till 8am didn't improve my mood. A little note in the room with some ear plugs or even just a warning when checking in would have gone a long way in improving the experience

Nice hotel in the heart of downtown shopping district

The building is old, which is true, but compared to the price, the stay is more than what we would expect. Located in center of the city, very close to the supermarkets and department stores. smooth access to everything you need, what else you need?

Unfortunately when we were there the Restaurant was not open on Sunday night. I do not know if this is normal . Also there were no information centres open in Adelaide on Sunday night.
