One of the few hotels in Ghent that I saw and it is a lovely one. An interior atrium greets you upon arrival and Starbucks and dining options are in the main area. Breakfast is served in a separate room and there is a canal front terrace for drinks. My room had a pitched ceiling with large oak timbers and floors making it seem very European. Great bed and large screen tv. Gym with treadmills and weights. Walkable to historic sites, grocery shops and restaurants. Very safe feeling for this mature solo traveler. Marriott does it again.

The hotel is undergoing some refurbishment, and I never like it when this isn't made clear at the time of booking. Rooms are fine, but in need of modernization. There are other hotels in Ghent now that offer better facilities with more refinement that do so at a lower cost. I love the location, the staff are great. It's just overpriced for now until the refurb is complete. Hopefully I can then fully recommend it,

Great location, with on-site parking (slightly tight for a low/wide car). A few rough edges in the room but a great view over the river and city centre. The TV didn’t work, I assume broadband problems. Good breakfast, but staff a bit rude.

Call the hotel to get the address to get here if arriving by car. It was impossible to find the road to get to the hotel. And the address on the Internet wont get you on the side road. The address found on the internet. Side alley to go behind or to property. Valet your car with them. Otherwise, the convenience of activities cant be beat. We felt safe. Great experience otherwise.

Lovely hotel, friendly staff snd probably the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in. Only down side was parking, with limited space in a terrifyingly small underground garage, but staff helped us source another option. Overall a great stay.

Prachtige locatie in de stad, op loopafstand van alle hotspots en winkels. Het hotel is prima, ontbijt heerlijk, personeel ontzettend vriendelijk. De parkeergarage is handig maar heel erg krap. Wij hadden een familiekamer met twee kinderen van 8 en 13. De bedden bleken queen size te zijn, dus heel krap. Daarnaast waren de bedden ook heel zacht. We hebben daardoor slecht geslapen. Er was geen oplossing mogelijk behalve een extra kamer boeken en omdat we via Expedia hadden geboekt kon er ook niets aan de kosten worden gedaan. Er zijn kamers die aan elkaar grenzen met een deur ertussen, wij zouden een volgende keer dus twee kamers naast elkaar boeken in plaats van een familiekamer.

The Presidential Suite at this hotel (there’s only one) has the most incredible view from a room I’ve ever had in my life. You can see the entire river from both sides of the suite and it’s breathtaking. My Father and I spent quite a bit of time at the windows just taking in the incredible views. The lobby and dining area is luxurious and very spacious, especially for European standards. If you’re lucky enough to have the man from Cyprus as your bartender in the lobby bar, ask for him to make you and Old Fashioned, one of the best I’ve ever had in my life! When you step out the back of the hotel, you’re literally at the river and the hotel has a designated area for you to enjoy drinks and food waterside. I highly recommend this hotel! It’s only a 15-minute drive from the train station.

When we checked in they were doing maintenance work for the AC, so the carpet in the front of the room was dirty. Because of the maintenance work, heating did not work in the room. When I pay 260Euro per night, I don't expect a room with no heating, or during noisy maintenance work where the hall carpets are full of dust. Furthermore that fan in the bathroom kept falling, which is a safety issue. We had to call room service 3 times to fix the fan, only for it to fall again on the floor 5min later.

The hotel is perfectly located, within steps of all the major attractions in Ghent. The staff is friendly and the rooms are spacious, comfortable and generally clean. I just wish there was not a blood stain on my bed sheet. It was laundered but the stain was still there. They changed the sheet when I asked. They were under renovation and we were informed ahead of time that there may be dust and noise but we did not experience either during our stay.

The hotel was spotless and well maintained. The front desk staff were lovely and the breakfast was great quality and the chef was very attentive as well. Couldn’t fault the stay, perfect set up for a family of 4 with spacious family room.

Mycket trevlig personal, fin service och fint-bra rum. Dock ganska smutsigt. Nötter på golvet när vi checkade in på rummet. Stopp i avlopp duschen. Så allt toppen förutom städning på rummet som var riktigt dåligt.

i loved the quietness at night but still in a central location during the day. The one negative was that the other couple we were travelling with had a Tv in their room that remained unusable throughout their stay despite reporting to reception on day one, apparently maintenance don't work weekends !!! It didn't matter much to our friends and didn't spoil anything. I just think maybe maintenance should be 7 days a week.

When I booked this hotel for a birthday trip for my wife & I, I wasn't warned (at the time) that I had booked for the period of the Ghent Festival. I was also not prewarned tat, I had booked & paid for one of the hotels premium rooms, overlooking the river. I should have appreciated the information that this room, although scenic, was directly over the "Pole Pole" stage where blindingly loud, very bass-beat heavy music would be going on to 2.30 every morning! after the first night admittedly the hotel did offer to move us to what they said, would be a slightly quieter room but no mention was made of refunding the premium that I had already paid. So beware, out of festival period, pleasant hotel, convenient for Old Town. During Festival - pack your ear plugs!

De locatie is geweldig. Midden in het centrum. Familiekamer met 2 tweepersoonsbedden was fijn. Ontbijt ook lekker en veel keus. De kamer wel erg warm en er kan geen raam open. Wel een ventilator gekregen en dat hielp, maar jammer dat dat nodig is eind december.

This hotel is lovely and located perfectly for walking about Ghent. The rooms have been newly renovated and our room facing the river was nearly perfect. The beds were comfortable, furnishing nice and the windows opened to the walkway below. I highly recommend this hotel. My only note is the odd choice of room lighting, or lack there of. The bathroom, while styled beautifully there is zero vanity lighting…it is such an odd thing, but one small spot light in the ceiling over your head, and only mood lighting or ambient lighting behind the mirror which makes putting on makeup nearly impossible. Large windows give natural light during the day, but again for style reasons, they have chosen decor style hanging bulbs, which are eye piercing- which we had to unscrew to turn off. The bedside lamps, same issue, they are so low to the table that the shades do nothing for the stark bulbs. I felt the lighting choices were odd, given the perfection of everything else in the room. I would love to stay here again, and maybe next travel with a lighted vanity mirror! The staff were all very kind and helpful. We stayed for 4-nights and we not disappointed!

Loved our room. We splurged for a canal view and stayed in Rm 131. It was a high first floor with great canal views. We adored the staff and management who spent a generous amount of time guiding us on what to do for our 24 hrs I in town. The suggestions were perfect for a couple in their 50’s. We crossed the bridge for drinks at the beautiful 1898 Post Hotel Cobbler bar. Walked 35 min to Bar Bask for an incredible dinner. Stopped by several bars on the way home. Went to the top of the Belfry tower (by way of elevator) to see the city (had to walk back down the stairs). Went inside St Bavos Cathedral. Took a $10 canal tour with the magnificent Alan - the electric boats nearest the back of the Marriott are better than the noisy ones on the opposite side of the canal. Lunch @ Pakhuis was beautiful but just ok food. Absolutely loved the beauty, the people and the kindness of Ghent. My absolute favorite of the 4 cities we visited.

The reception staff was very inefficient. Although several staff members were present, they did not work efficiently and often ignored waiting customers. Only one staff member assisted one guest at a time, which caused unnecessary delays. As a result, I had to wait 20 minutes just to retrieve my luggage.

We had a fantastic stay in the Ghent Marriott - brilliant staff right from the lady who checked us in early (we thought we would just drop our luggage and come back later). She anticipated our needs - we had been up so early for a 7am flight and early access to our rooms was just what we needed. She checked us into adjoining rooms - just perfect for our family. Unfortunately, I didnt get her name. Alexis was great helping me book restaurants that could deal with my daughter's allergies. The real star of the show, though, was Louisa in the breakfast area. She took such great care of my daughter's allergy requirements and made sure she had a great breakfast every morning. Ghent is a great city to visit and your visit will be enhanced by a stay at the Ghent Marriott - great staff, riverside location, bright airy lobby, great breakfast and lovely light lunchtime bites!!

We went for the room with the canal view and it was great. A lot going on in the canal and the surrounding area in the best part of town. Did not like misinformation from the front desk. The airport went on strike and we had to extend a day. They said it would be at the same price as the Expedia booked price. At checkout the story changed and no they could charge their regular price for the extra night which was a lot more.

The staff at the Ghent Marriott were extremely accommodating and friendly in every way possible. Whether it was to schedule a taxi or to help a customer in need of emergency medical services. We asked and they made it happen. The rooms were clean while the amenities provided were exceptional. We would recommend this hotel ten times over.

Great location, lovely breakfast - staff were amazing, Louisa - I think? Check-in was awful - a large important group were leaving and they were allowed to queue jump to check out. Obviously the reception staff were more interested in them than the normal traveller! Several rooms weren’t ready, even though it was after 4pm. Our sink was blocked and took over 1 hour and 3 conversions with reception to be moved to the room next door! Replied to the hotel email asking for check in feedback and was never contacted by them to discuss this. Not really the service I would expect from a Marriott hotel….

Incredibly convenient hotel. You literally step out of your hotel onto the water front. You can see St Michaels Bridge from the doorway. We absolutely loved Gent and staying at this Marriott Hotel was the icing on the cake. Nothing to dislike.

Right in center of old town Ghent on a lovely canal. Easy access to Gravensteen, palace of the counts, etc. Lots of restaurants and stores nearby. Quite touristy. Also make sure you use the correct address to navigate if you have a car—using the address tht is posted on Expedia takes you through the non-vehicle area.

Best location in the centre overlooking the canal. Very friendly staff. If you want to eat in the Grill restaurant then book in advance. we tried to book on arrival for both nights we were in Gent, but it was fully booked both nights as very small.
