Stayed 4 nights

Hotel is nice, but it’s not a 5 star. I would say 4 stars is about right. However worth noting it’s priced like a 4 star so I can’t complain. Rooms were decent. Dated, but nice and comfy. Location is great, and staff were nice.

Stayed 4 nights

The room we were given on the 4th floor was extremely dated & needed an urgent overhaul! The drawers inside the wardrobe were old & falling apart. The safe wouldn't work. The balcony furniture was like something out of the 1960's. The carpet was old & dirty looking & the shower knob came off in our hands! I realise the building is iconic & is a listed building but this room was not reflective of a supposed 5* hotel! The hotel was not cheap either. The staff at the bar were friendly & welcoming however the reception staff were spoke with were the opposite, unfriendly & dismissive. If your room is near the city it is VERY noisy!

While admittedly dated, it is architecturally impressive and the staff are great, but the business centre needs upgrading

Stayed 5 nights

I traveled with a male friend and, being that I am a woman and we are but friends, so at reception we requested separate (already paid for separate rooms) but adjoining rooms. We arrived early in the morning, stored our luggage, and then returned around 5 pm, whereupon we were assigned Rooms 360 and 362 which we were told were next to each other. Instead, there was both a large meeting room and a large library space between them. I was in 362, which unlike my friend's room had no sofa, no desk with a chair for writing, no nook for coffee pot, and was considerably farther from elevators. We paid the same amount for our stay. Also, unlike my friend's room, I was not supplied with face cloths and had to request them. We were exhausted after a long trip from the US and sightseeing and I didn't have the energy to protest the inferior room and possibly move. People should be aware also that, while the distance to the historic downtown is a 15 minute walk, the return is up a very long and steep hill. We noticed, after several trips up and down the hill, that there is a bus that goes up the hill. It would have been helpful if at reception, someone would have alerted us to the availability of the bus and indicated the bus number and cost. On the positive side, there are a number of small, reasonably priced restaurants across from the hotel. The hotel buffet breakfast, which was included in our reservation, was excellent and offered a vast number of choices of food. space
