Location was good, parking on the property was a major plus. Two pools and ocean access for swimming was really nice. Daily breakfast buffet was extensive, restaurant staff were very attentive. The property has been around a long while and seems to have numerous expansions. Our room was quite tired and could use some maintenance. Private balcony with semi ocean view was lovely tho.

The hotel is located within easy walking distance of cable cars, lots of great restaurants and access to the ocean. The property has lots of character, a great free breakfast and two pools with friendly and helpful staff. there is free parking as well which is a huge benefit as street parking is very limited.

Wonderful location, you jump into the pool then jump into the ocean. Great bar/restaurant near the pool and a very large breakfast offered. Service was very good, and we will definitely come back. One thing to note. Laundry facilities is not offered even though listed. They have a laundry service for a high fee.

The hotel was situated on the sea front, with amazing uninterrupted sea views. The hotel had a lovely large swimming pool and easy access for those wishing to swim in the sea. The hotel also boasted a wonderful seafood restaurant. It was a flat leisurely stroll along the promenade into Funchal.

loved it. next door cafe/restaurant played dreadful music loudly on Friday afternoon and evening Not nice. Generally lots of bits needed attention, e. g. some tiles round the pool were cracked, garden walls in the old garden broken by tree roots etc. food in the Brothers restaurant was excellent and good value

The room was very clean and comfortable and the staff were great. The only things missing were a kettle and an iron. We requested a kettle which you can do and were provided with a coffee maker which was ok but a kettle would have been better.

Hotel has a great view and potential. We were disappointed that we booked a room with an ocean front balcony and we were put on the ground floor looking at the pool, lounge chairs, umbrellas. Yes the ocean could be seen but very obstructed. Our room was dated and worn and we had many ant visitors. Okay place but not upgraded

Rarely do I give negative opinions, but it was very disappointing experience. 1) No iron and iron board provided - hotel offers you ironing for a quote of EUR 2,50 per each T-shirt; 2) Cockroaches in the room; 3) Some kind of party (maybe wedding?) and screams nearby during all night Sat-Sun; 4) Breakfast was always late - when we came at 7:30 there was no food provided, the staff was bringing it until 8 am each day; 5) Awful smell in the room, especially from wardrobe Positives - free, big parking, good location and beautiful view from the pool and from the room as well.

The hotel is quite tired and needs an upgrade. Generally clean but do have to say on my final morning I came to the restaurant for breakfast and there was an infestation of mosquitoes/flying ants and all the waitress did was sweep them on the floor! A little disappointed

Vom Zimmer war ich enttäuscht. Einfachste und alte Ausstattung bei angeblich 4 Sternen. Der Fön ist vermutlich ein Relikt aus den 50ern (festes Teil mit Schlauch).Statt einem Doppelbett hatte das Zimmer nur 2 Einzelbetten. Die Dusche war schimmelig.

1. Good with the service especially the staff working at the restaurant at breakfast time. 2. Average: the room: (a) the bathroom is tired with rust on the ceiling; (b) the air conditioning was not working properly. The weather was not too hot. We did not make any complaint. Apart from that, we had a good stay there.

Beautiful ocean setting. Fantastic breakfast buffet with outdoor seating. Upgrade or splurge on a second floor room. The first floor pool /ocean view is practically non-existent if you are sitting on the balcony as you are looking into the wall. Easy enough to move to pool chairs through. The front desk employee, Marilin, was awesome. Super freindly and helpful.

The experience was ok. The problem is that the hotel has two buildings and the name of the building for our booking was a different than the one that appears to be here. Our room was in Hotek Oenha de Franca Mar. It was nice, but a bit more of guide on this would be good.

Good facilities with a beachfront section. Only problem with the room was the air conditioning did not work, just blew warm air. I reported it a couple of times and maintenance had a look but it was not rectified. Otherwise it would have been 5 stars.

Eu estava preocupado com esse hotel por causa de algumas avaliações negativas que eu havia lido, mas me surpreendi muito positivamente. O hotel é antigo, mas muito bonito, limpo, agradável e bem localizado. Todos os funcionários foram extremamente gentis. O café da manhã é ótimo, e em um pátio muito agradável. O jardim é muito bonito e bem cuidado. Os quartos são antigos, mas amplos, limpos e com camas muito confortáveis. O único ponto negativo foi o ar condicionado do quarto, que parecia estar só ventilando. Mas fora isso, nossa estadia foi perfeita.

Måtte likevel betale for den standarden jeg hadde bestilt, selv om den jeg fikk var mye dårligere. Misfornøyd!

A wonderful surprise this hotel turned out to be. Loved the old world feel of the reception area in the main hotel and the pool & sea view are exceptional. The staff was so knowledgeable and took time to show us about. We had dinner included but were not able to make it so, lunch was provided for us. The breakfast buffet is the best I have seen in Portugal with eggs made to order, warm breads and wonderful fruit salad to mention a few items. Overall, I would come back just to relax by the pool. Downtown Funchal is easily walk able as is the waterfront. The hotel can be very proud of their staff and their genuine concern for the stay of the tourist.

Great location. , a little shabby in places rooms spacious . Breakfast offerings pretty extensive. Lunch ok had a few problems with wrong order being brought then the item I had ordered arrived raw . Pool staff super organised and very helpful. Restaurant staff pleasant. Reception mainly good , although on last morning we had ordered a breakfast and it wasn’t delivered the reception said there was nothing he could do about that in a very brusque manner rude ! No customer care there . Needs addressing 20/7

Framför allt var läget fantastiskt, precis vid havet och solläge hela dagen. Trevlig personal och mycket bra service av killarna vi poolen. Perfekt läge även avstånd till centrum och gamla stan. Även många bra restauranger alldeles intill. Frukosten var också bra.

Location was good, parking on the property was a major plus. Two pools and ocean access for swimming was really nice. Daily breakfast buffet was extensive, restaurant staff were very attentive. The property has been around a long while and seems to have numerous expansions. Our room was quite tired and could use some maintenance. Private balcony with semi ocean view was lovely tho.

The hotel is located within easy walking distance of cable cars, lots of great restaurants and access to the ocean. The property has lots of character, a great free breakfast and two pools with friendly and helpful staff. there is free parking as well which is a huge benefit as street parking is very limited.

This hotel was in a great position to walk into Funchal old town either along the promenade or down the many side streets. There is also a lovely park nearby with cafes. We got the Aerobus from the airport which drops you off within a 2 min walk (stop number 10) 6 euros. The breakfast every morning was amazing, continental,full english,cereals,fruit,pastries even smoked salmon on some days. There are 2 available swimming pools. One is a short walk over a bridge and down by the sea. The smaller one is in the garden which we used every day. All the staff were very helpful and welcoming. Our room was clean and tidy and very quiet.

We very much enjoyed our stay here. It was only a 10 minute walk to the marina. We found the breakfast to be especially delicious with plenty of choices. The coffee was fabulous . Staff are very attentive, friendly, and helpful.

Hotel Quinta da Penha de França was a quiet and quaint hotel. It was walkable to the main square with many restaurants nearby to choose from. The breakfast options were the best that we experienced in our 24 day trip in Portugal.

Framför allt var läget fantastiskt, precis vid havet och solläge hela dagen. Trevlig personal och mycket bra service av killarna vi poolen. Perfekt läge även avstånd till centrum och gamla stan. Även många bra restauranger alldeles intill. Frukosten var också bra.

Staff was very nice and helpful. Property is not in great condition. Curtains in our room were torn. Carpeting and furniture are old and worn. The pool deck tile needs repairs. Breakfast was so so. It was the same every day so it got boring. Today's scrambled eggs were so watery they were not appetizing at all.

Die Atmosphäre der Unterkunft entsprach genau unseren Vorstellungen. Wir hatten ein Zimmer in einem der kleinen Nebengebäude. Etwas Farbe an Tür und Möbeln im Bad hätte es noch wohnlicher gemacht. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend bis auf 1-2 kleine Ausnahmen. Da wir 9 Nächte zu Gast waren, war zum Ende der Zeit das Frühstücksbuffet trotz guter Auswahl dann doch etwas langweilig, da es wirklich jeden Tag das gleiche Angebot gab. Da es uns sehr gut in Funchal gefallen hat und Madeira eine wunderbare Insel ist, werden wir vielleicht noch einmal wieder kommen und gern auch in diesem Hotel wieder übernachten wollen. Vielen Dank dem gesamtem Team vom Hotel Ouinta da Penha de Franca.

Wonderful location, you jump into the pool then jump into the ocean. Great bar/restaurant near the pool and a very large breakfast offered. Service was very good, and we will definitely come back. One thing to note. Laundry facilities is not offered even though listed. They have a laundry service for a high fee.

Great location. , a little shabby in places rooms spacious . Breakfast offerings pretty extensive. Lunch ok had a few problems with wrong order being brought then the item I had ordered arrived raw . Pool staff super organised and very helpful. Restaurant staff pleasant. Reception mainly good , although on last morning we had ordered a breakfast and it wasn’t delivered the reception said there was nothing he could do about that in a very brusque manner rude ! No customer care there . Needs addressing 20/7

A great environment at Quinta da Penha de Franca for our 7 nights in Madiera. Relaxed and uncrowded with a very good breakfast and an excellent cocktail bar. Madeira is an affordable Island paradise which improves every year. Stay in Funchal and visit Camara De Lobo and Machico.
