Great place to stay and explore. Hotel was super, staff so nice. Breakfast was excellent. Lots of choice and great coffee! Ate in the Waterfront bar for a lunch and a dinner and could not fault it. Swimming pool was very nice.

Our stay was lovely we did have a fantastic time the hotel was beautiful and the pool was so lovely to relax in with a hot tub, steam room and sauna. We visited in December and the temperature of the pool was a little chilly but it was absolutely fine. We also only had one dinner which was in the restaurant, at the time of visiting there were renovations happening so it was the only restaurant available. I have a few allergies so the options were very limited but I managed to get something and it tasted amazing.

This was a last minute booking and after looking at different options in the area, this appeared to be the best value for money. How wrong we were. We booked a Lough view superior room (this was extra), and were very surprised to not have the lough view that the pictures showed. Yes we could see it if we wrenched our necks. They moved our room, a whole floor above that we were told had a golf course view. It didn’t, it had the same side view and the added bonus of a roof top. Our original room was also less than clean, there was excrement in the toilet when we arrived. The condition of the furniture was also not great. Yes the room was very spacious with a decent amount of storage space. The second room was exactly the same (minus the excrement in the toilet). We raised a concern with the reception staff who informed us they don’t actually do Lough view rooms at the hotel. The manager was called and he tried to resolve the concern, but didn’t appear equipped enough to deal with this. We were given a few free drinks at the bar, a fruit platter and box of chocolates. And an apology. Overall, after a long travel day we didn’t have the energy to find somewhere else, but feel extremely disappointed that what’s advertised does not actually represent what you get. The images were very misleading. Very poor service on behalf of the hotel and hotels.com.

I always heard good reports about Hodson bay hotel and it lived up to all my expectations. Every thing was spotless, the food was excellent and staff were very polite and helpful. The location is great (of course the beautiful weather added greatly to our whole experience) We will definitely be back .

Clean room, comfy bed, the coffee pod/machine was nice and excellent to find decaf options available. Efficient staff at front desk and in bar/food. Not sure why you need to order food from a designated food till rather than at the bar. Apart from that excellent.

Really is a place to stay if you want the resort feel and not leave the property. For how expensive it is I was shocked there wasn't a free bus that would take you into town, the room also had a few issues (nothing huge) like the shower head was dropping off the holder so water just kind of spilled out and one of the outlets wouldn't let you even plug something in. Not a huge deal but at €220 euro a night, I would expect a little better. There is a €5 tray charge for breakfast room service but that's it so huge win there. I also got a massage which has to be one of the best of my life, especially the after care pampering with ice cream, a relaxing room and views of the bay. Tons to do on site for families and the staff was absolutely great.

Got married here 21 years ago. Nice to come back. Room was spacious and great view of lake and golf course. Only issue was heating not working properly. Ava at front desk was great and turned the negative to a positive as good customer service should be. Sent us portable heater and bottle of wine. Thanks :-)

Our room is located older part of the hotel so the room itself is a bit outdated but clean and comfortable. Staffs are very friendly and check in and out is fast, easy and efficient.

First and last time. Dinner finished at 20.30, checked in at 20.50 restaurant was still serving main course. Asked at bar if they could at least do a sandwich, was offered two pieces of bread and sachet butter to put the crisps in I had just bought - disgusted at how unaccommodating the kitchen and staff were after a long day of travelling. As a frequent traveller, I would never stay at this hotel again

Was given a lovely corner room both windows over looking the lake. Room was excellent and facilities. Had food in the bar. Service wasnt the best, lack of training. Simple things like having to ask for cutlery for both starter and the main course had to get it myself for the main after it never arrived after asking for it. Drinks were left sitting on the bar for about 10mins before brought to the table.. they bring the food out from the kitchen and place it on a table for 5mins before serving it to the customers. Lots of little things. No sugar provided with coffee and it was spilt al round the saucer. Staff wer friendly just lack of propper training. Food was nice could of been warmer. But as i said it was left sitting on a tray before it was served.

The Hobson Bay Hotel was brilliant and first class. The rooms were beautiful clean and lovely. What can i say about the staff they were so lovely everyone of them so friendly and nothing was any bother to them. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

Had a great stay at the Hodson Bay Hotel recently, it is in a fabulous location, highly recommend the Viking boat trip in to Athlone. Found the food to be a lot better in the Restaurant than in the bar, it can get very busy at breakfast times, but if you get down early its fine. Enjoyed the pool and leisure facilities also, staff very helpful and friendly throughout.

My family enjoyed our week at this hotel. Very warm, attentive and friendly staff. Good interconnecting rooms for families. Great breakfast and other food options. Good pool (remember to bring swimming caps). Absolutely stunning walking and views at Yew Point. Would recommend as a good base for exploring Ireland
