Treacys Hotel & Leisure Centre Waterford

First of all the check in is very late in the day. 4pm - which is very inconvenient when you’ve had a long journey and just want to get changed and relax The hotel is advertised as having parking but there was no information about this and nothing obvious as you drive around the building. I parked in a nearby pay and display in the end. It turned out that the parking is in an Aldi car park up the hill and you can get your ticket validated for free parking. Why not tell people this in the confirmation emails?? As I couldn’t check in I chose to avail myself of the gym and pool. For this hotel to call itself and spa a leisure centre is almost misrepresentation. The “spa” is not exclusive to the hotel but I cannot believe any right-minded person would pay to visit it or be a member. The changing rooms smelled and there was hair all around one of the sinks. The gym equipment looked fairly up to date but it has a general feeling of being run down. The pool was good, but the jacuzzi was out of order. The reception area is well presented and the front desk staff polite and helpful. However, as soon as you go through the doors to the warren of corridors leading to the rooms, it is like entering a time warp and coming out into the 70s. The decor is dated and even worse in the room with scratched/peeling wallpaper and wooden architrave and wardrobe areas that would be at home in a youth hostel. There was no net curtain and my window opened directly onto a road. I

I really enjoyed the pool, sauna and hot tub! Needed R and R so it was perfect for that!

Hotel was OK for the price. Very long walk to our room from the front desk. Hotel is very dated but clean. Room was very warm. AC was terrible. Parking was 2-3 blocks away. Great bar and music at night. Will probably try somewhere else next time im in Waterford.

Was no where to easily pull up to unload/ask a quick question, before having to figuring out how to get to their designed park garage; that was quite the hike with all our luggage. Toilet flushed poorly; the walls are thin, parents could hear another couple, in the next room, at it, in the middle of the night. Indicated 24 hour reception, however, my husband went out for a night walk, but was not able to get back in until the hotel unlocked at 7 am! The parking garage lift, though working the first day, did not work; had to carry luggage up 4 flight of stairs!

Conveniently located and decorated nicely. We really enjoyed our stay here. The room was quite small as is typical for these older hotels but it was adorable. We were looking forward to using the pool but once we took a stroll around the hotel and found the pool area, we realized the amenities are open to the community and it appeared that it’s utilized as a local gym of sorts so we felt like we’d be intruding. The price was a little steep for what you’re getting but we’d likely stay here again due to the location and the cleanliness of our room. The staff was adequately hospitable too!

This is possibly the worse stay I have expirienced - ever. The image of the 'Hotel' from across the waterway so evidently masks the fact o the location being on a major rote through Waterford, and at the traffic lights. Given the sell, I requested a view of the water - major error. Upon checking in, reception advise the steam and sauna being closed- I book on the basis of enjoying! I requested high room, on the 2nd floor the room - it stank! I was moved to the third floor - a refit is underway! The room was better - clean-er and with more space - marginally. A late lunch was curry chips - don't ever! There were too few socket outlets, however, I was able to share with other guests. Sleep was poor for the drone of traffic which built as commuters set about their day. Breakfast. The staff were busy... engaged in themselves, I was offered a good morning only after I'd moved beyond the vacant wait-station. Breakfast had been waiting some time... I asked about complaining / feedback... I'm not convinced any would be bothered. I wish I been more dilgent. Mever ever again - shame on Traceys!

Nice and cosy, lovely meals and dessert at the bar. Parking at hotel. There is a small lay-by before the hotel on merchants quay as well as parking opposite by riverbank in order to drop off luggage. Parking instructions is at reception. The parking building is 3 streets behind the hotel called the Glen Car park. Take a ticket and it is validated when you leave so free parking. Only a 5 minute walk to hotel. When leaving take validated ticket to car park and bring car back to layby or opposite car park to load your luggage. Easy as.

The property was in a good location on the waterfront and within walking distance to a lot of sites. We chose to pay 11 Euro to park across the street at the waterfront car park (rather than dragging our luggage up/down the hill to the free hotel parking). The staff was nice. The Timbertoes bar was out of the ingredients for most of the cocktails listed as available. They did have live music in the evening, which was good, but consisted mostly of American standards. There were a couple of big issues with our stay. The first was that our room was located in Block B. I'm guessing Block B was the building next door and the hotel expanded into that space at some point. What this meant for getting to our room: elevator (lift) from reception to floor 1. Trek through a maze of hallways and fire doors following signs for block B, Climb 4 stairs with luggage, go through another fire door and around to the block B lift, take block B lift to 3rd floor, exit lift, down another hall, through a couple more fire doors, down a bunch of stairs with luggage, another hall, through 2 fire doors (and the cleaning staff storage area) to get to a door thay lists 2 rooms, key card to get theough that door to get to our actual door (which also required key card). The room was hot, dimly lit, and there was a lot of traffic noise. The bathroom was small and there was no place to put anything. The second major problem was the shower. The water was scalding hot-like burn yourself, can't stand in it hot.

Excellent location in the heart of Waterford. Had to park a little distance away and the multi storey had no working lifts since Aldi moved. We could cope but this could be an issue for less mobile individuals.

Great hotel for my one night stay. Pleasant staff and the bar food was good. Only downside was the free parking in the Asda multi storey about 100 metres away. There is however pay and display parking opposite the hotel. Overall a good experience.

Good value hotel, clean and friendly

Hotel felt a bit run down. Lobby was messy with Xmas decorations that were duebto go up. Room was dirty with hair in shower and sink from previous occupant or cleaner. Paint was flaking in bathroom and appliances had limescale. Room lacked lights and power sockets next to bed. Wouldnt rush back!

Room was clean, and serviced every day. Good facilities in the room, and the room was a very good size. Shower was hot. Check-in was efficient and friendly. Free parking

Unfortunately the pictures of the hotel online did not match with the hotel’s reality. Room smelled terrible immediately upon walking in and all the windows were open in order to air it out. No AC in the room for a four star hotel is ridiculous, as well as mold all over in the shower. Breakfast functioned extremely poorly with one single-use coffee machine for the entire hotel. Pre-toasted cold bread available only. Both elevators alternated being out of service during our stay. Extremely noisy hallway in the middle of the night and old rooms with no sound proofing. Definitely not a four star hotel experience.

Very unkempt and outdated and in need of deep cleaning and some fresh interiors Bathroom ceiling leaked on top of me while in the toilet.. water ran into lights.. really unsafe.. we left straight away. Breakfast ingredients were good and the service there was lovely also.

I Always stay in Tracy's Hotel and never had a problem always looked forward to my stay until now not much interaction from reception when checking in. When I got up to my room there was no coffee or milk. The room wasn't clean and when I went to put something into the bin in the bathroom it hadn't been emptied, when I was on my way out I decided to say it to the reception desk and she didn't seem to be too bothered. It will be a long time before I will return if I ever will return again.

Room was spotless, staff very helpful and great location

I’ve stayed here a few times now and it’s always been grand. My last visit though wasn’t as good. Shower was cold, there was an sharp earring on the bathroom floor that I luckily didn’t stand on barefoot and the Wi-Fi was non existent. The toilet spent most of the night refilling loudly which kept me up. Again as I said I’ve stayed here before and been happy enough. Beds are comfy, staff are friendly and helpful just this last visit was a bit disappointing

My room was comfortable but I had no outlook and a noisy hum was to be heard fairly constantly.

The room was larger than usual and the staff was nice. The breakfast buffet was very good. The shower had a very weak flow and not enough towels supplied on the second day

We booked rooms at this hotel because it advertised air conditioning. Turns out only half the hotel has air conditioning and you have to request rooms with air conditioning in advance. (Not sure how we were supposed to know that.) When we asked, they were out of rooms with air conditioning. They moved us to first floor and gave us an extra fan but didn't get much sleep from noise outside given the window was open.

This was my second time staying here. The rooms are small but clean and the location is good. Problems with heat (thermostat not working) and hot water, none on the second morning. The breakfast is poor.

I stayed at the front of the property and the noise levels where high and the windows did not seal correctly so I may have been sleeping outside with the traffic.

Staff were pleasant room was clean but extremely outdated and the hotel had an awful odour throughout. It was also like a maze trying to get to the room. Definitely wouldn't go back.

My family of 3 stayed here for one night and we enjoyed the hotel. The location on the river is pleasant and is great for seeing the sights of Waterford. The staff was friendly and welcoming and the room was comfy. Overall it was a delightful experience.

Room very uncomfortable and dated Went for food in the bar and it was chaotic . Food after was just average . Upon check in met a pleasant lady but she was distracted by people trying to purchase items of jewellery from glass case and ended up waiting 15 mins just to be acknowledged . As said in headline . Unlikely to return .

The bar staff seemed nonexistent after about 11:00 pm, with no one around to serve the guests, and the breakfast was mediocre, to say the best. My biggest issue and genuine concern was the intermittent, but constant fire alarm between 8:15 am and 9:00 am. On-off, on-off. Apparently, it's the steam from people's bathrooms setting off the alarms in people's bedrooms. If that's the case they need to change the alarms.

I just enjoyed an excellent stay at Treacy's Waterford. From Reception to the Ownership, everyone was courteous, friendly and professional. A winning combination in my book. Will definitely stay there again. Thank you. Patrick S,

Good value! Nice staff. Quiet in the evenings. Cleaners did try to cone into the room without knocking before my check out time even I was naked but thankfully the chain was on the door…

The hotel staff told me I had to pay at check-in. I said I had already paid through Hotels.com. Staff said: «no you have paid through Expedia» I showed her my receipt, but due to it having the hotels.com logo and that the payment had been done in my local currency it didn’t provide sufficient information to avoid the misunderstanding. She tried to call someone but no answer. Again she insisted I had to pay. I assumed that hotels.com had a virtual card setup for my booking. I asked her to charge the card she had on file, and that worked. If I hadn’t asked her to do that, I would have had to work out a duplicate charge on my corporate card, so I’m happy I was suggesting it.

A lovely hotel to stay in, with friendly and helpful staff. The price per night was very reasonable, particularly when compared to other options nearby. But what really set this hotel apart was it's location. Right on the quays, and a 10 minute walk from the best parts of Waterford city.

A comfortable stay in the heart of Waterford city.

Place was ideal for site seeing and local amenities.

The property has great access to shops and restaurants and very walkable to the rest of the city events. The parking was free but we were required to park 3 blocks away from the property and be creative managing bags to drop off and pick up from the room. The room was pretty warm and tiny for what we had with us, but the staff was nice and accommodating to our needs.

Close to many things with a view of the water

Great location and staff. You can walk to anything that you need. The bus and train stations are very close. And the buffet breakfast is worth every penny.

Ticked all the boxes I needed it to. Perfect for train station and easy walk to the sights. Cosy, comfortable 1st floor room , on the main road but heard no traffic noise all night. Friendly staff, good wifi and some English TV channels. Excellent value for money especially considering hotel prices in Ireland generally.Best of all though, the wonderful buffet breakfast.
