The two pools were overcrowded all weekend.There was no lifeguard or security person. Many people were drinking heavily. There were not enough lounges for paying guests and plenty of people snuck in. The pool area ran out of towels and it took a LONG time to be replenished. The Board of Health would have lots to say. Pool time was disappointing. Also the sink in room 547 is cracked down the middle.

I sent a message asking for an early check-in because we had an early dinner reservation. No response. So I called and they told me it would be a $25 charge. I told them no thanks. The room was find but the toilet was dirty. The women’s locker room had 2 full homers with dirty towels over flowing 2 days in a row. Used towels in the corner in sauna. The pool area was nice but all the chairs were taken by 11 am and there clearly were not enough for all the guests. I’m not sure but heard they let outsiders pay a fee to buy a one day pass which takes away from the guests staying at the hotel. Bad idea and not fair to guests who booked hotel because of pool. Other than that it was nice.

Do not disclose at time of booking that they not only charge you $30/night to park in their ramp (there is no other parking option in under a mile). Also they charge $25+ in “visitation fee” that apparently isn’t covered in the $300 a night hotel fee. Phone did not work and mini fridge was broken on arrival. Went down to front desk and waited over an hour for a technician.

Clean, tidy, and wonderful view of the plaza. Our room came with a balcony which is rare to see these days, especially when the room isn't a suite. The staff were helpful and friendly, and the lobby restaurant was great. Only complaint is the elevators, which were having some problems when we stayed causing two of three to go down, leaving only one operational. It wasn't a big deal for us, but it was an inconvenience for some people we met.

This hotel is a great location to the country club plaza. The room was clean and bed comfortable. Great view of plaza. The pool is nice but cabana bar appears to be open only on weekends/holidays. Towels are dingy. No coffee shop. A restaurant is on site but check hours. The parking staff were attentive and check in was easy. It looks like some decor updates have begun. Hopefully it wil continue because it could be a great hotel

I had to change rooms from 826 to 818 due to issues in the first room. Unfortunately, room 818 still had problems; the sheets had lipstick stains, indicating they had not been changed. I asked for new sheets but never received them. Frustrated, I eventually removed the stained sheets and bought new ones at Walmart. Additionally, the shower was clogged, and there was hair in the sink. The only positive aspect of my stay at this hotel was the valet, Kyle, who was awesome and very knowledgeable.

There were several problems, but the worst was the upholstered couch which was absolutely filthy. The hotel did move us to a better room, but the couch was equally as filthy. We had to request blankets to cover it all in order to even sit on it!!

I feel terrible leaving what some may consider a bad review, and I hope maybe the hotel was just having a few “off days”…Although the hotel was nice, and we did love the pool, the whole place had an old, musty, sort of dirty smell to it. Our room included. Staff when checking in were friendly but on night 1 we waited 45 minutes for an extra blanket and night 2 waited 3 hours for 2 clean coffee cups. I think had I not paid $300 a night here, I may have been able to excuse those things but I felt like the price I was paying would warrant excellent service and a super clean room. We found skittles and an earring on the floor which lead me to believe it hadn’t been vacuumed. The duvet was in between two flat sheets and had some stains on it. Excellent location though, and it is a beautiful place.

When we first arrived we found dead cockroach on the floor , the shower wasn’t draining and it accumulated sudds and the faucets were broken and there was scum around them, there was dirt behind them and the pillows were smelly

The hotel seemed nice at check in, but our room wasn’t as clean as I would expect for the price. There was hair on the counter, floor, and in the shower left from previous guests. We usually stay at slightly cheaper hotels so I had high expectations at this price point. I also was charged an additional $26 charge without warning or explanation so watch out for that. My receipt from Hotels.com says pay $10.07 at resort but my charge is for $36.07 and I can’t find an answer as to why. Also, if you have a lifted truck you won’t fit in the parking garage. We barely cleared the 6’4” entry sign in a standard full size pickup.

The staff was great when checking in . My issue is with the conditions of the room when compared to the price . Almost 400$ and the carpet was stained..the toilet was slanted back like it was falling backwards and the wallpaper was stained by the toilet..the caulking behind the toilet...just the over all condition of the area was totally off. There was a long black hair on the tub ..rose petals from the guest before on the floor , it obviously wasn't vacuumed..we had 3 large pillows 1 small on the bed ..it looked disheveled as soon as we entered the room..the bed was hard as a rock! The hall ways needed vacuuming throughoutthe property..the entry way tile needed mopping . We passed 2 housemen..and a lead cleaner in the hallways in the morning didnt even get eye contact let alone a hello or good morning . . When eating breakfast 1 older lady was doing everything while 1 other person just stood there with 4 dirty tables we had to sit basically on top of the couple eating beside us ..it was the only thing clean. We asked for chocolate milk....never got it.. we had to settle for hot chocolates becuase it was made wrong . The wall was dirty from food by our table. And no food was labeled in the breakfast area..was it grits or oatmeal? Is that turkey sausage or pork? I am a cleaning company owner and my expertise is on hotels.. for the price.. for the area.. your definitely missing the mark . It wont let me add pictures or i would .

This property once was great but has fallen into decline. Overall, it needs renovations in the rooms, but most importantly, housekeeping and maintenance. Small things like the room was covered in 'scratches' in the paint that should be cleaned up, to larger things like a toilet that takes 2 minutes to slowly flush with nothing in it, to the grab bar in the shower having one side completely pulled out from the wall. From a cleanliness perspective, the room was very dirty, from debris on the floors to the most disturbing, which was a dried bloody handprint on the shower curtain. I was only there one night, so after a bedbug check (*which appeared clean), I just did a grin and bear it. That said, with as many great hotel options in the area, this one will be off my list after this stay. If the staff allows things like the maintenance to get that bad, the fact it wasn't clean seems like "Culture as expected".

We heard great things about this property from friends but were disappointed in the cleanliness l. We had dry vomit on the floor and on both bedspreads. They were very behind on having rooms ready as well and we almost had to cancel our stay. One of the elevators didn’t work either so it took a very long time to get one that wasn’t full and we were on the 9th floor. I don’t know how anyone below us would be able to get an elevator as we had to stop in every floor and say we were full. We will not be back.

The hotel itself is really beautiful and the staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast is really great. Our room was right next to the elevator though, we heard it going up and down literally the entire night and it is not quiet. We were in town for my daughters cheer competition so we really did not get a good nights rest because of this.

Location, location, location - that is why we chose to stay at the InterContinental. The convenience of the hotel to the Plaza, Brookside, Waldo, downtown, highways and other KC attractions was perfect. However, we will never go back. We found it impossible to maintain a wi-fi signal to complete necessary internet business and when we asked at the front desk, were told that the wi-fi was spotty in the building and we might have to move around to pick up a hot spot. Not that we were there to watch TV, but the television connection didn’t exist. At first we were able to pull up the menu and clicked on one show — — only to loose internet connection for the duration of our stay. We feel an internet connection falls into the category of a basic service. The InterContinental KC needs to be able to cover the basics. We expected more from such an upscale facility

If you have a room with a view of the Plaza it was nice. The hotel had very little signage so unless you asked, you had to guess which level to access the pool and fitness room or where the vending/ice was. There was very little water pressure in the shower and very little warm water. Housekeeping never showed up with extra coffee pods and there was blood (not ours) on one of the comforters. For the price, I was disappointed and would likely look elsewhere if we were to stay in the plaza again.

The highlight of our time at the Intercontinental in Kansas City was the service we received from Tracy in the restaurant on 8/16/25. My friend stopped in for a light breakfast. At Tracy‘s encouragement, we visited the Beth just to see what they were serving. It would excellent but the best part was the service Tracy provided and professionalism.. Tracy has a real grass of customer service and anticipating customers needs. she was funny, helpful, and sent us on our way with a pick up to go cup of coffee! I would return by myself just to have breakfast with Tracy!

We arrived on time for our check in. Our room wasn’t ready. Usually wouldn’t care if we had to wait for a bit. But we had reservations for dinner at 6p. We had to wait for over an hour in the lobby. We weren’t notified if our room was ready even tho they said we will call you when ready. We approached the front desk multiple of times to just to be safe if ready. After an hour. We checked in again and it was ready. No apologies from the front desk or a courtesy of some type of comp for our troubles. I understand this type of situation can occur. But better communication would have been nice and some type of comp for us waiting in the lobby for more than an hour. Over all. The rooms were clean, beds comfy, the view from the balcony was nice, breakfast was good in the lobby. A buffet. Yes. We will come back another time. We have stayed here multiple times throughout the years. This is my first review with the hotel.

The facility is lovely. The check-in was a disaster. Upon arriving at 4:15, waiting more than 20 minutes to get a check-in associate, I was told no rooms were yet available, and there was no guarantee that we would get a room. She said my phone number would be put in a queue and that they would notify my if and when a room was available. She said that I would not be prioritized, since I booked through a third provider rather than booking directly. She never apologized that rooms were not yet available and she was very accusatory that I booked through a third party, suggesting this was an inadequate reservation. They did provide access to the fitness center so that my family could get dressed for our evening event. When we returned at 11:00 after our event, a room was made available. But no apologies were ever made for the inconvenience and disrespect.

Booked a 2 night stay to attend the Chiefs game in October. Was certainly expecting more based on the price ($715 for 2 nights) and location. Upon arrival to our room, there was a large pile of trash outside our door - presumably from the previous guest (cans, takeout containers…etc). I figured that housekeeping had just not had a chance to collect it but after leaving and returning from dinner at 9pm, the trash was still there. I had to call the front desk to finally have it removed. There was also a large pile of sheets (likely not clean) in a small alcove across from our room that stayed there for the duration of our stay. The next day we left for the Chiefs game and upon returning to our room at 10pm, found our room had not been cleaned all day. I had to call the front desk to have fresh towels brought and the woman who answered was not thrilled to hear from me, but we eventually received towels (and I was told to “just take them”). On the day of checkout, I noticed our room was missing an iron. I called the front desk to request and after waiting an hour without receipt (and a follow up call which went unanswered), we just gave up, checked out and left. Aside from the proceeding, the room and hotel was fairly rundown overall. The restaurant likely was given a recent refresh but corridors and rooms were dirty and in major need of an update. Given the cost and hotel brand, I expected at lot more from the property and level of service.

This property is one block off of the Country Club Plaza, so it is very convenient for shopping and dining. It's a classy place without being overboard. Staff was universally great. This is pretty much the only place I stay when visiting KC.

While the hotel accommodation and location was great, my stay was spoiled by how the hostess at their restaurant treated and disrespected my son. Restaurant service was extremely slow, it would take almost one hour to get your food after ordering. This happened twice so it was not just a bad day.

We dined at some great local restaurants off the plaza in the area like Heirloom for brunch, Barbacoa and Rockhill Grill for dinners. The Mixx for lunch. All delicious! We did eat hotel breakfast one morning which was good too. The wine at the attached restaurant was awful. It tasted like the bottle had stayed open too long. The pool was fun! The entertainment in the hotel lounge we were looking forward to, and it was quite sleepy and not entertaining. It wasn’t even good background music. Disappointing. We went back to the room. Overall KC has so much to explore. The Plaza was looking a little dumpy, so we skipped entering this trip.

Close to my event on the plaza, able to walk to get good food. Only thing was no TV controls, ran down to desk as no one answered the phone and they did get one there by time I got back. And shower was out of bath wash.

The staff was friendly & excellent. The room was disappointing. Lots of long, black hair in the bathroom which isn’t mine or my husband’s. Sadly, our room wasn’t cleaned the first day we were there but finally was on the second. Pool area was gross. Trash everywhere, drink's left all over, as well as used towels. Also, area around the bar/front lobby area needed cleaning, too. Lots of trash everywhere. My husband & I wanted to enjoy a weekend in a nice hotel & it was just “meh,” sadly.

Definitely not worth the charge. The place is boosted up more than what it is. The restroom is small, cleanliness to the room was not up to par. The pools are small. Expected more for the amount of money. House keeping was never in sight.

The shower curtain had multiple stains. The carpet in the room was ripped. The walls, especially the baseboards, were SO dirty. The pool area had broken concrete & weeds.
