There was only one elevator for the whole hotel. We were on the 6th floor and the elevator took over 10 minutes to get to us one time. Not convenient for a larger hotel to only have one elevator. Otherwise very pleasant experience

The property was outdated. It felt low quality compared to other Marriott hotels. The elevator was also out of service so good luck if you’re staying on one of the higher floors. Unfortunately I did not see this when booking, and I never got an email saying that the elevator was out of service, even though other people did. If I had received an email, I would have canceled and gotten another hotel. The gate in the parking garage also went down before we got to cross, and it scuffed the top of our car. The breakfast was good and they even had milk alternatives which is nice for lactose intolerant people. The breakfast area is pretty clean, and the hotel overall is too.

We ended up waiting such a long time for the elevator. There are 6 floors with 126 rooms and there was only 1 elevator. Many others were complaining of the same thing. We used the stairs when we could but one of our family members has disabilities and stairs were difficult.

Front desk staff was short and not overly friendly. Seemed like being fully booked may have overwhelmed them. Secondly there was no working elevator so you were stuck walking flights of stairs to get to or from your room. There were several minor details that when spending $300 a night just shouldn’t be a problem. Tv guide not working, WiFi was basically none existent. This has really opened my eyes and will probably never stay in this or affiliated hotels again

The room is very spacious for a traveling family with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The location is awesome and within walking distance of many restaurants or shopping. The breakfast was generous with a good variety of options. The couch in the living room was not comfortable and had seen better days. We too were greeted at check-in with the news that the elevator was out of service for the duration of the trip. I was traveling with 2 kids and my mom who is over 60. We were placed on the 5th floor. While we made it happen, I believe that calls should have been placed ahead of time to let people know that the elevator would be out of order.

So, they initially put us up in their annex which was really not so pleasant. They most kindly changed our room into the main hotel and that was wonderful - I do find it odd though that after all this time they still do not have an elevator. If you can't handle the stairs, this is no place for you! Still, the folks were most kind, and they even helped us take our bags up and down the stairs. But they really do need to get the elevator up - 6 floors man!

The hotel was filthy and smelled horrible. The elevator door did not open all the way, there was no coffee pot in the coffee maker, your feel stuck to the carpet in your room. The windows form our room did not look outside, instead the windows openned up to the breakfast buffet.

This property is quite dated. The pictures on Expedia were deceiving as far as the lobby and rooms are concerned. Our room in general was clean. We did find crumbs and pieces of crackers on the mattress of the pullout bed when making it for our kids to sleep on. The elevator was broken, so we had to carry our luggage up several flights of stairs. The front desk offered to comp us a King bed instead of Queen for the inconvenience. Lots of outside noise (sirens, cars racing) for most of the night. It was ok for a one night stay, but not sure we will return when we visit KC again. We enjoy Residence Inn (just stayed in Chicago several months ago), so we were disappointed when this location wasn’t up to their normal standards.

I will say this location is a pretty good one if you'd like to stay in the Country Club Plaza area. The hotel room was dated and the lighting in the room was not great. Also the shower was dark because the lighting was not good in there either. The room was clean, but, the bed wasn't all that comfy. It definitely needed a reno or some updating. The breakfast was very good.

We had the suite, so it was really nice to have a bedroom with a door that could be shut-off from the living area, which had a couch with a pull-out bed. And then there was a full kitchen which we didn't really need for a 1-night stay, but would be great for an extended stay! There was some noise transference from adjacent units, you could hear people talking and someone had a dog that would bark occasionally, but it wasn't a big issue.

While the staff was very courteous, we were not told that our room had an outside entrance, nor were we corrected when we went the wrong way exiting the front lobby. The parking situation was confusing, and the front desk is understaffed. While the front desk staff was very friendly, they were a bit overwhelmed at times, and this is a management problem, not a staff problem. Overall the room was clean and neat, and quiet at night. We stayed in the apartment style suite (hence the outside entrance), and there were plenty of blankets and extra towels for our stay.

Customer service was definitely off w c c and heather. Realizing we had an outside entrance we requested to be moved to the inside building ( my husband is 70 and we weren’t sure about safety). They changed rooms without disclosing the bed size would be a queen instead of our requested king. Requested the next morning that we be moved to a king room. Immediately we got attitude from Heather. That’s how our vacation started. Moved to our (king) room. Another bummer. Room 125, check it out. When the air came on it sounded like a freight train. Had to continuously change volume for tv. Then, the outside door to the building was right outside of our room. The door slammed evertime it closed, very loud. Family above us with children, we heard it all. We also heard every time they flushed the toilet along with a banging noise in the wall. Thank you for reading my review

We really enjoyed our stay at the Residence Inn near the Plaza in Kansas City. It was a great location as we were able to walk to many destinations near the hotel such as the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art and the shops and restaurants in the Plaza. The staff was terrific. We enjoyed the people staffing the front desk. The breakfast crew and housekeeping staff were very responsive. Whenever I would thank them, they would thank me for choosing to stay at their hotel. Even after we checked out, the people at the front desk helped us out with a problem. Your staff there is a very valuable asset--I could not have been more pleased with how we were treated and assisted. Residence Inn by Marriott near the Plaza has now become our home away from home when we are in Kansas City.

We had a great stay here for the Thanksgiving holiday. Jason M., the front desk manager, was so kind and helpful, as were all the staff. Expedia messed up our reservation and Jason did everything he could to straighten it out and help us have a great stay. He waived some fees and got us a good rate (because I had to pay twice due to Expedia's error.)

Everything is a bit tight in the space, obvious signs of age in the hotel that needs some updating. Eating area is weirdly placed. However, the staff were great, the breakfast was fantastic, I was easily able to find street parking, and the location is still central.

The staff were great and made the “extra” effort at least three different times. The breakfast was good—better than the average. And it was just a block from the center of the Country, Club Plaza, so we did not need to drive around much for dinner and entertainment.

While it is an older property with older color schemes the weekday cafeteria ladies are wonderful and breakfast is included each day. The beds and pillows are comfortable with large screen Tv & full kitchen.
