The elevator system was a nightmare. Only holds 6-7 people without luggage so the wait time was 15-20. The other elevator has been out of service for over a year.

Super cool concept - and ode to the Seattle music scene and Sub Pop Records specifically. Good design. Smallish lobby but cozy. 5p free beer happy hour is great, as is the coffee bar in the mornings. Loved the turntable in my room and the vinyl that was there for me to play. Staff were great. Helpful responsive intelligent and interesting. But… rooms are noisy. Wifi is weak. Worst is the fact that they have only one tiny elevator for all ten floors, big enough for no more than four people - less if you have luggage. The second elevator is out of order with no hint that it’s actually being repaired. And there’s no service elevator either, meaning that the staff and their giant cleaning carts and laundry carts are as often as not clogging up the one tiny elevator. Ridiculous. More than three or four times we had to wait two or three times because the elevator arrived and it was too crowded to get on. I’d stay here again because it’s in a great location and a cool concept but only if I was certain ahead of time that the elevators were working. Oh and I asked for different vinyl (I mean the Sub Pop catalogue is what, 10,000 albums?) and they said no!

Hotel is interesting but 1 of 2 very small elevators was broken the entire stay. Very inconvenient for 8th floor guests. Excellent downtown location, walking distance to Pikes Market and the Space Needle. Starbucks directly across the street.

I've stayed here a few times and it's a cool hotel, but they really have to do something about the elevator situation. Every time i came back to the hotel after work or after dinner, there was a long line to get into the elevator because even though there's 2, one of them is always broken. They're tiny too so you can only get 3 people in at a time. I wouldn't mind walking up the stairs but i was on the top floor this trip so that's a no go. I will continue to stay here but man, fix this please.

It only had 2 VERY SMALL elevators for the whole hotel, like 3 people max, 2 if they had luggage. With the hotel being full it took FOREVER to get an elevator. We had to take 3 flights of stairs down with our full size 50# luggage because we waited and 3 elevators came and were full. Other than the elevators, it was nice.

Only one small working elevator. (try going to lobby within four hours of checkout time. No room service, had to pay delivery for the one outside restaurant. No decaf coffee. Limited TV. Closet was teeny. Two small drawers for two people.

The room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom, shower were very small. The location was great, easy to walk to the water front. Good restaurants around. The staff was great. Parking was expensive $47! on top of room and resort fee yet there was no breakfast, bar or restaurant on property... overpriced for what it is.

The sink had not been cleaned and had some kind of brown substance in it. The lobby was not lit well. The staff was unhelpful to my request. One of the two TINY elevators was broken and the other felt very unsafe to use. A person who obviously was not a hotel guest followed me into the lobby, watched me get my key, and jumped into the elevator with me to get upstairs. The room smelled terribly and the carpet is so old, it irked me to walk on it so I just kept my shoes on. Terrible terrible experience.

I liked the area of this hotel but there was grime and mold around the tub the carpets felt dirty. No real amenities considering the price tag of one night felt like this hotel was lacking. Valet was also terrible we had to wait 15-20 mins to give our keys and to get our car back… overall not great. It has a lot of potential so it’s sad it missed the mark.

Elevators are so small that they back up very quickly. Room with records and record player...record player would turn on but the needle to play was gone. Tv remote hardly worked. Lobby was cool. Overall not the worst room. But wasnt really special by any means.

We liked the ease to use mass transit to explore many of Seattle’s neighborhoods. We did get to see much of the city (car free). The room, itself, in Hotel Max was fine. Everything worked as intended and I had enough room to roll out my yoga mat. Hotel Max is a bit disorganized, though. The room was not ready on arrival. One of the few amenities , a water station in the lobby, is empty 70% of the time. The hotel does offer free beer from 5pm - 6pm; however, there is no restaurant associated with the Hotel (it looks like there was one that went out of business). You can’t get a glass of wine and an appetizer to bring to the room. After a day of exploring, this is our preferred option; it simply isn’t there. The elevators are very small. We opted for the stairs. Floor entry from the stairs does not require your room key, but the elevator does. Our room was definitely not ADA compliant. If you need ADA compliance, I would ask specifically if they have it. Again, the elevators are small. The room’s bathroom has a step up, the sink is dentist style. Never say never, but next Seattle trip, I might give somewhere else a try. Staff was nice, decor in the lobby is nice - Seattle rock inspired.

Comfortable rooms, small but very good value and nice location. Walls are thin but street noise isn’t crazy. If you’ve travelled to large cities or abroad you will be comfortable here, if you’re used to giant rooms with overstuffed furniture then this might not be for you

We were told we’d receive a text when our room was ready for check-in but never got one even though they confirmed my phone number. We went out and had some food and came back when we were told to check in time was 4 PM. They were checking in other people to the hotel so finally I got back into the line and the staff were nice to me, but they weren’t nice to the other staff. The elevator was broken so it took forever to get up and down. There was no garbage in the bathroom to put towels after drying your hands.

Recently stayed at the hotel, first the location is excellent and is about a 10 minute walk from the market so you are away from the crowds and the riff raff around there. Secondly they do serve free beer in the lobby between 5 and 6 which is a nice perk. On the other hand, when I got there there was some technical problems with checking us in and the guy was being kind of rude about it and didn't even appear to really care that we had just travelled the entire day and were sitting in the lobby with our luggage. They did eventually get it figured out and we got checked in after like an hour, seems the service in Seattle in general leaves a lot to be desired. The rooms are very bare bones, with basically two beds and a tv, no microwaves, and no ice machines anywhere that I could find. One of the elevators was out of order and the working elevator is basically the size of a bathtub so it's pretty tight quarters if you're in there with other people. If there's a crowd you could be waiting 5-10 minutes to use the elevator, had to take the stairs up 10 flights a few times to avoid the crowds. All in all it wasn't terrible but don't expect anything too luxurious.

I always stay here when in I’m town! Love the area, the vibe, the staff. 5 o’clock free beers is a bonus! My room is always different in a cool way, like it’s a surprise what it’ll look like! I love that. The beds are super comfy and it’s great having a fridge too which is rare these days. Love love love the staff from the front desk to the valets to the housekeeping staff they’re all so lovely and helpful. Thank you Max I’ll see you next time!

Great staff! Friendly, cool, and collected. Was great to be in the historic Vance Hotel. The reimagined space that is now Hotel Max provides the perfect nostalgia for Gen Xers and provides the perfect vibe for returning Seattleites.Will return!

The front desk staff was not interested in greeting guests or making them feel welcome at all. I requested a wake-up call on my final morning at the hotel, since I had to catch an early ferry. The wake-up call never came. The man who was working right outside the front door, however, was very pleasant. He greeted me and chatted and opened the door, which was nice.

This is the perfect spot to stay in Seattle if you’re going to do a lot of tourist attractions. 5 min walk from the 1line 5 min walk to the monorail to get back and forth from the space needle/climate pledge arena. Pike place is a 5 block walk

Hotel Max was in a great location! We had many dining options to choose from, in a short walk from the property. We ate at several different restaurants, all walkable. In addition, the Space Needle and Chihauly Glass Museum and gardens was also withing walking distance. Although we didn't have time, the Pikes Place Market was also just a stroll down Stewart St. The walkable choices of dining and activities was one of the reasons we chose the Hotel.However, after staying, I would choose it again for the unique ambience, amazing cozy lounge and friendly staff.

Hotel Max was a nice hotel. Very basic but has everything you need. Walkable to most places downtown. It was nice for a girls trip. Would have been nice if there was a restaurant or bar in hotel.
