Decatur Conference Center and Hotel

The rooms were clean, the beds were soft. It was a big hotel for our party to enjoy. The pool was enjoyable. The hot tub wasn't running.

The decatur conference center, formerly decatur holidome, Used to be a first class establishment. I held numerous business events, famiky stayed there and cardinal caravan used to come here. What a dusappointment now. We called and asked for early checkin and were told no that they were full. Im not sure anyone else was there. The lights were off in holidome to the point if being unsafe. The website advertised hot tub. It was down. I dont mean being serviced. It was dry and dirty. When i asked staff i was told they had been down for 2 years. Thats deceptive. Pool was cold. I could have stayed at several nicer hitels for 70-80 vs 126 they charged. Showet didntcwork. It barely came out. Breakfast was mediocre. Sorry i expected more for the price. I asked the desk to make a concession. Staff was polite. She said it was up to manager. I left my number no call. Shameful. They earned this review.

While the room was in good condition, the elevator was disgusting. The posted and advertised hours of the bar was 5-9 pm. Upon arriving to the hotel slightly before 8 pm to have some drinks and maybe food, the bar was closed and it was said that is was because there were no patrons. Had I even known that it would possibly be closed before the posted time, I would have went elsewhere prior to returning the hotel. In the middle of my shower, the water pressure decreased so much I had to finish washing my hair in the sink that had full pressure. The other complaint I had was the heater rumbled so loud that I just turned it off and snuggled in the covers as much as possible to stay warm.

This place is a hidden gem , it has a resort feel to it from having an indoor pool , bar/restaurant, breakfast was phenomenal and included with stay. (Pros) Indoor pool Bar Restaurant Full breakfast included Workout center Office center Pleasant and helpful staff Fair and unbelievable rate per night (Cons) Jacuzzi wasn't working Sauna wasn’t working Heater in the pool (if there was one) not at a temp you would expect Despite the cons which I’m sure are in the works to be fixed , this Hotel is now my go to when I am in the Decatur area.

I had a great time staying here. The pool is open until 10, the gym is open 24/7, and the bar was open until 9. Very few people were here, which I like. The bartender was a sweet grey bearded man who had great hospitality, and a caring tone. Although I had ordered a 1 bed king, I had gotten 2 beds queen size which didn’t bother me. Overall, it was a great stay and I WILL be returning again soon!

The hot tub has been broken for a while, ( someone posted a year ago),the fountain was broken...the only part....I really enjoyed was the pool!

Pros - hotel was clean and quiet, staff was friendly, room was clean, room bathroom was good size, indoor pool bigger than expected! Cons - hot tub was out of order, shower water pressure was very weak and the waffle station is only on weekends; however, the “weekday” breakfast did have many choices!

Both the sauna and hot tub were closed down. Rooms need to be updated, It may be time to reseal the tub/ shower combo!

Complimentary breakfast and fitness room were awesome! Pool was fun just too much chlorine. Unfortunately spa and hot tub were closed and beds were quite uncomfortable

Dirty linens on bed, no pillow cases. Clumps of hair in bed. Toilet seat was up?

Rooms were clean and safe. Beds and bathrooms were first rate. Love the renovations since last there - years ago. The Continental Breakfast was more than I have ever encountered. All around great experience. Thank you.

The people at the desk, cordial and accommodating. When I walked in the hotel seemed very clean. When I got to my room, my room was spotless. The bed was very comfortable, and the towels were unbelievable, very soft and plush. I got a great sleep that night. In the morning, the breakfast was very good and the ladies working the breakfast were very accommodating. When I’m in the area. I will always stay at this hotel.

Initially given a key to a room that was noticeably dirty, sheets messed up on bed, twirls all over bathroom, trash and other sanitary items in trash can.

The rooms were not clean at all there was blood on the sheets and open condoms on the floor which lets me know the rooms were half way cleaned. It smells old through your the hotel not the same conference I use to go to years ago.

Just a horrible hotel Furniture looked like is was bought at a garage sale in 1970. Pillows hard and tiny. Bathroom unclean with pubic hair and shaving stubble still apparent. Wall plaster cracked. Cold water in sink was...hot. No hand soap. Furniture paint chipped. Desk chain filthy and could not be raised. Want to hear more?

This is a beautiful hotel. The rooms were very clean and they also had a very nice breakfast laid out. We enjoyed our stay!

Room was unkept. Bathroom had moldy tub, vent fan was covered in dust, towels were pool towels, shampoo bottle was empty, tissue box was empty, hair dryer didn’t work and bed sheets had stains.

Carpets were not the cleanest. Elevators stinked.

Door sticks. Very noisy. Windows to the room open up into the hallway and conference area. Breakfast was good.

The hotel is outdated and needs alot of work. The room I stayed in was subpar. The furniture was old and banged up. One of the walls had damage and bad patch work. The bathroom had mold around the tub. There was rust on the panels of the ceiling in the bathroom as well. I will not stay at this place again.

Family of 5 with 3 kids 16 and under, we were placed in none connecting rooms and down the hall from each other. The toilet in our room wouldn't flush unless you took the lid off and messed with the thing inside. One of the bottles glued to the shower fell off the wall while my husband showered, a second one fell off in the middle of the night. We were placed in a room with a view of one of their event spaces (which is fine), however there was an event going on until 11pm making sleep difficult for us as music blared in our room.

Our room was great except for the pillows. The pillows were tiny for a king sized bed. They were also very mushy. Free breakfast was fabulous! The hotel was quiet; we didn’t hear any other people. It was very inconvenient to park by the rooms, but to have to walk a long distance to the lobby to check in. My husband is disabled and the hike to the lobby was difficult. I had to drive around the building to pick him up

Couldn’t connect to the internet but we were only there one night so I didn’t complain. The mini refrigerator made a whining noise when it clicked on, I thought it was a tornado siren because it was storming when we arrived. Breakfast was pretty good. I would stay again.

Nice place overall. My mini-fridge was howling all night. In the hotel’s defense I did not call to have the problem remediated.

Stay was ok just had a situation with a front desk staff who instead of asking if we got anything from the side store just immediately looked at my child pointed and hollered an amount while I was trying to get a key made. When I said excuse me she said oh I thought he got cookies.

booked and pre paid for a king room with sofa. I was not given that kind of room as they said they were sold out of them. odd part is the parking lot only had 6 cars, not sure how they could be out. my only option was to take a 2 queen room that would have cost me more. front desk staff refused to call the manager at 9:45pm so we could figure out a solution to the problem was only offered to take queen room and manager would let me know what the rate would be in the morning lol. NO lots of nicer hotels priced the same in the area.

Back in its day, this was THE place to stay in Decatur. I understand it recently changed ownership, so let's hope they resolve the issues. For starters, as I checked in, the two ladies behind the Front desk were complaining about working there to themselves. I could hear their whole conversation. The side door closest to the elevators is now locked. This means that once you check in, you must walk down a long corridor to reach the elevators. Your car cannot be driven around to the side door since you can't get in to save your legs. They serve breakfast. On the first day, they actually made fresh omelets or scrambled eggs. After that, they just had that huge pan of scrambled eggs, which were dry and tough. Forget the food in the bar, which opens at 5:00 pm and closes at 9:00 pm. Best to drive a mile or so to get better food. They won't give you service unless you ask for it, so hang your towels up to dry because they don't provide fresh ones. Overall, unless the new owners address the issues and improve service and food quality, best to stay out at Forsyth, newer hotels, better food options, and the price is the same or better.

I plan to contact the manager on Monday, but briefly . . . There was a loud knock on my door at 11:30 pm, which I now believe was the front desk clerk. I was awakened by two phone calls in a row on Saturday morning from the desk clerk who asked me to come down to the desk. I told him I was still in bed, but that had no effect. I asked if it was urgent. He said yes. I asked if there was a problem. He said yes. That's it -- no further information or explanation. As I was getting dressed, all kind of things ran through my head, Had I done something wrong? Was a family member sick or hurt? Was someone there to surprise me? (No one even knew what hotel I was in.) What could I possible have done?? When I got to the desk, he asked if I was in room #### and I said yes, nervous and worried about what was going on. He said, "You're in the wrong room." The key worked, so how could it be the wrong room? He said, "you need to gather up all your belongings and move to room ####." I was incredulous! I said I was checking out in just a few hours and that was ridiculous. He asked when I was checking out! It was right in front of him. Eventually he realized the idiocy of his request and said never mind. My relaxing, restful morning was ruined. Also, I chose this hotel partly because it supposedly had both a bar and a restaurant. What I found was a bar only, no restaurant for dinner, and the bar was closing to the public in an hour because of a ticketed show.

The staff are great, professional, friendly, helpful. The room was comfortable, clean and the bed was very comfortable. I will stay at this hotel again when I come to see family.

The staff was very welcoming and our check-in was quick with no hitch. They also had various options for breakfast plus the food was good.

Was very very amazed at this location! We booked it the night before because we were visiting family and it was want far from them. We have found our spot every time we come to Decatur. Place was gorgeous!! Only complaint was when I booked it said only 1 room left and when we got there I’d say there were only 5 cars at this huge place. Be a bit more honest

The large pool, convenient parking, and friendly staff help make this a great place to stay. The hotel and conference area is kind of run down but it is a very spacious space.

The front desk person was a bit rude. On the photos it looks way better than in person. It’s definitely an old hotel and it has a creepy atmosphere. It was very empty and some hallways were completely dark throughout the building. The closet had moisture bags in it and they were full. I was traveling alone for work and it made me feel a bit unsafe. I recommend staying at one of the more known hotels in the area if you’re traveling alone.

I stayed at the hotel with kids for a week over Christmas. The rooms were clean and comfortable but I think we went the whole week without housekeeping. We never got clean towels even though there were multiple people in the room. The kids used the pool and there is a sign saying to leave the pool towels by the pool which is stupid because they dripped on the floor the whole quarter mile that the pool is from the rooms. They also would only authorize my key card for 3 days at a time. This resulted in me coming back late exhausted with rowdy kids to be locked out of the room and the front desk is as far away from the rooms as the pool is. For the good, the included breakfast was great with lots of selections. It is still warm-up stuff but there is always bacon or sausage and fruit and everything. I think the stay was a fair value for the price overall. I like the location better than in Forsyth and you get basically the same thing as the Hawthorne but for less money. It is better than the hotel in Mt Zion.

The hotel is located in a very quiet area about 10 minutes outside of Decatur itself. It is a very nice and spacious hotel, although it is definitely starting to show its age in some aspects. It would have been awesome to visit this hotel in its glory days, but it is still an affordable, decent hotel that met my needs.

The staff was very nice and helpful. We were glad to have a dining option on- site (Sports bar/restaurant for dinner and brrakfast included was good!). Our room was good,and the kids enjoyed the pool. There were a few aspects of the hotel that were a bit run-down. It was an intriguing, big hotel but it gave a 'vacant' vibe in some ways. I would stay there again if i need to be in Decatur:)

The photo on Expedia was not accurate and probably 20 years old. The property was desolate and dilapidated, overgrown lawn, crumbling sidewalks/parking lot, and doors locked. Nothing was around the hotel besides a gas station for 2 miles. I didn’t feel safe enough to get out of the car. When Expedia reached out to the hotel no one answered. I have never experienced anything like this.

Parking lot and entrance seemed odd and worn down but the rooms were clean, there was a bar and restaurant that was open and the service was good. Typical bar food but good and reasonably priced. Overall, it was a good stay.

We stay in Decatur frequently and don’t know by we never stayed here before. The lobby is gorgeous & the staff super friendly. The free breakfast is probably the best hotel breakfast we’ve encountered in our many travels. Our room was clean and comfortable. The facility has some wear on it but it was still a fantastic stay.

No the biscuits n gravy seemed to been refrigerated for days. Was horrible.
