Wyndham Rochester Downtown

Our check in was great. After that, it was downhill. One elevator was broken, no ice machines worked, our sink was closed causing the water to fill the sink, the coffee maker did not work....when i reported the issues to the desk, they looked at me with a blank stare. I thought the wyndam would do better than this.

passenger elevators not working first day there. no ice machines working. staff friendly. bar and what you might call a restaurant open from six to nine. never saw a cook there or anybody having dinner. needs work.

No gym

The hotel was under construction, therefore there was hardly any parking and even less handicap availability. Was told to park across the street, despite having a handicap license plate. Also had to pay $5 per night for parking. Had to walk very far to get to room, with only one outside door being open after 9:00 pm. Bottom of bathtub was stained and looked dirty. Ceiling tiles had water stains. The iron didn't work. The air conditioning in the room did not work well. No free breakfast, which we knew ahead of time, but the restaurant inside the hotel did not open until 9:30 on Sunday morning, which is pretty late when checkout is at 11:00. I had somewhere to be at 9:30 so that did not work for me at all. Overall, very disappointed and will not book at this hotel again. We paid $190 for one night in this room. Not worth it at all.

It was not stated that main elevator was inoperable. The service elevator disgusting. No working ice machine on my floor. Otherwise personnel were friendly.

The property was under constructions and most things werent working like one of the elevators the vending and ice machines in our floor. The thermostat no matter how low you set it to the room never got colder it was really hot in the room.

Would not recommend to stay here. Property is in overall poor condition. One of 2 elevators inoperative.

The hotel is under extensive renovations. Having said that, the hotel's current state is a complete dump. Only one elevator worked, with a handwritten sign that the call light was out and the capacity was limited to 4 people - 4 people limit with a single elevator - not good. The "restaurant," if you can call it that, was limited to a limited-selection buffet. Rooms under renovation was loosely sealed off, with debris everywhere. The pool was closed. The parking garage was filthy, with debris falling from the roof. The lobby was shabby, with a strange layout. When I asked about speaking to a manager, the woman behind the front desk pointed to a sign for the manager on duty - it was blank. She said she didn't know who the manager was - total BS. All in all it was a miserable excuse for a hotel. Instead of renovations, it should be torn down.

The staff was very nice. That's the good. The 1st room they gave me room 409, was 81 degrees when I walked in. The air did not work. They moved me to another room. There were no ice machines on the floor. I had to go all the way to the front desk to get ice. They put another customer in room 409. He had to change rooms too. The pool was under construction. My room faced a side street. Cars were rev in engines and screeching tires. Saturday morning the fire alarm went off and we had to evacuate. The amount I paid per night was too high for what I got.

Had to pay for patking

I never leave reviews, period. I have traveled in third world countries and stayed in youth hostels. This was worse. The hotel is not just dirty, it's filthy. Floors are gross with dust and dirt all over them. There was a half empty wine bottle on the floor of our room. Our room had clean linens and was quiet. I throughly checked for bed bugs are couldn't find any, thank god. The staff were friendly. The rooms had paper room numbers taped to the walls. One elevator was out with a sold out hotel. Panhandlers were in the lobby in the evening. The hotel is in a not so great area. Gym is under construction which is not mentioned anywhere until you get there. The neighborhood is not safe to run or walk in alone. Under construction. We paid $450 a night to stay there for the eclipse. Unbelievable. DO NOT STAY HERE!!

The advertisement of the pool online was under renovation. There was nothing online to inform me of this. The carpet in the room was flirty. The scenery was the old pool full of dirt. The pool wasn't under renovation they lied. The Lobby was a small area. I hated everything about this hotel. It was old with a bad order in my room. I was switched to another room it was much better. My daughter was switched 3 times to a different room. The floor in the hotel room floor looked like someone threw up on it. It was my worst experience ever from Holiday Inn. I'm very disappointed 😞

Arrived and was told that they couldn’t make up key cards. They offered to hold onto our luggage while we went to dinner. Upon return, we checked in a d received our key cards. However, strangely, a security person accompanied us to our rooms to ensure we could get in. When we arrived on our floor, we were greeted with a construction site. Drywall dust everywhere, mattresses and bits of furniture strewn through the hall. When we arrived to our respective rooms, we found the entire room full of dust and my colleagues said that the toilet in his room was used but not cleaned. I was aware that this Holiday Inn had some poor reviews before booking, but I didn’t expect to see anything as bizarre as this. It’s great that they’re renovating, but they can’t expect guests to literally sleep in a construction site. The kind attendant at the front desk refunded our credit cards. We booked nice accommodations at another property which we should’ve done from the get-go.

The proximity to the convention center was good. The hotel smelled really bad, they v only make fresh coffee 2x/day waited almost an hour to get fresh towels, there was a mouse in my room. The bed sheets did not look like they were washed properly.

Dirty and broken down hotel.

Front desk was very nice, bathroom was filthy, rif raf in the lobby, didn’t feel safe in the parking lot, no trash collection, no coffee as promised in the morning, room was NOTHING like was on the web site false advertising.

It was dirty. One elevator worked. Two of the doors in main entrance didnt work; one on each side. The guy behind the counter was rude. He made a comment about me being broke. He was not dressed in uniform or presentable clothes. He was one his phone. Didnt give us his name. There was clear, recent water damage in our room. We couldnt shower because there was only hot and hotter water. Low water pressure. Toilet was hard to flush. There were crumbs on the beside table. Door was hard to open when you first came in. The room ac didnt work. I almost fell backwards in the desk chair because when i sat back it kept going. We were never told about the $100 deposit for parking.

I have stayed here before on business however it has declined the bathroom had long hair in the corners and the tub had hair in it as well. It was not cleaned properly and I did not feel safe wondering what else I was coming contact with. I had my son with me as well who got stuck in the bathroom because the doors are so warped and the lock handle was falling off the door as well. We both could not wait to get up early and leave. I was disappointed and it was disgusting trying to use the bathroom with other peoples hair, lying all around and on the walls in the shower . Also the front desk was rude in checking in because the wanted a deposit and since everything was closed I asked why and she could not explain it only to say in case you break something. Well there was nothing to break. It was already a mess.

One maintenance staff member was extremely helpful. Multiple issues with room including unflushed toilet, garbage under bed, odor in room, toilet paper holder fixture extremely loose, sink won't drain. Entry door from parking area to lobby wouldn't open. I couldn't find a way to force it open. Staff member had to force it open.

The room itself wasn't bad. Not the cleanest, all the furniture in the room had some sort of damage. The bathroom was tiny. The shower looked like they tried to paint it and is now peeling. There was no hot water in the room. They gave us a key for another room to use and that also didn't have hot water. I don't recommend staying at this hotel. Maybe once they finish the renovations it will be better but it is not good right now

Some places look like they’re falling apart (ceiling tiles in the bathroom, for example), but the rest of the room and amenities were super. The bathroom was clean, the room was clean, the beds were clean and comfy. So if you can get past seeing things that aren’t pristine, this place is comfortable and at a great price! I do want to take a moment to brag about Mark (and the cook, never got his name) in restaurant. We decided to eat dinner in on our final night and they bent over backwards for us. (Thanks, Mark!!). The cook even made something for me that wasn’t listed on the menu, and it was outstanding. So don’t write off the prospect of eating in the restaurant down in the lobby. There was a little mix up with billing (essentially, their “system” billed us twice), but after talking with the manager on duty, he sorted it all out and by the time we checked out the issue was resolved. Thankful for management that went above and beyond to tackle this for us. Overall, we had a great time in Rochester (son had an audition at Eastman) and the proximity to everything was convenient.

Bed was amazing. Blackout curtains were great. Large sized room. Shower was lukewarm and toilet did not flush.

Staff were great, very clean and nice room although the shower/tub was falling apart/peeling a lot. There seemed to be an outdoor pool for warmer seasons. We had a nice view of the river although construction right next to it. No complimentary breakfast but a couple of restaurants attached on the main floor. Overall a good experience.

First impression is great. Lobby is a nice presentation. I did the on line pre checkin so all i would need to do is puckup my key at the front desk. NOT! Had to do it all over at desk, id, cc, etc. Waste of time online uploading pic of my id. Elevator to room, elevator panel has seen better days. King room was spacious. Opened frige to store my beverages, it was warm cuz its unplugged. I plugged it in. Great room, but the bedside scounces were a bit wobbly. Footnote: none of the elevator buttons lighted up. And 1 of 2 elevators out if service due to upgrading. Nice hotel, served my purpose (close to conference at Hyatt down the street) but defitely needs a refresh. I will stay again.

The service was terrible and the rooms were terrible. There was no hot water for longer then 24 hrs and the room didn’t even have A.C I had to buy a fan from Walmart ‼️‼️

The hotel is under construction (remodeling) so there is a lot of random stuff in the hallways, but otherwise the room was completely comfortable The one concern on our room was that the lock was not very reliable. Sometimes our keys worked and other times they did not, this was a little frustrating but not too big of a deal.

The staff were very nice and helpful. There was 24 hour security in the lobby. There were two elevators, one was broken. The internet did not work at all and did not have a password. The phone in the room was not connected. The ice machines did not work. The locks on the door seemed flimsy. Did not feel safe.

The hotel was as cold as it gets. They turned off the heat and didn’t even attempt to turn it on knowing how cold the weather was. I literally had to wear sweater to keep me warm while I go to bed.

The staff was great but unfortunately expedia messed up my booking and there was no room reserved for me

I was very unhappy and unimpressed with this Wyndham. We tried to meet with the manager for a discount 3 different times. Once was when we checked in. He was nowhere to be found. His front desk people were calling him and could not find him. We went back the next morning. Again, the manager was nowhere to be found. We tried before leaving for the afternoon and again, no one could locate the manager. When he got back late evening, a manager was available. We did not receive the discount. We asked for help with our bags and no one could help us. They provided an office cart (not a luggage cart) for me to navigate and fill and take to my room. The elevators were out and we have to use the service elevators. We trapsed through the offices and heard an employee yelling at their manager on the first night. It was also very warm in the lobby, the offices and the service area. Our room a/c wasn't working properly & the engineer was unavailable for our entire stay to fix ours (and other customers). The room was clean. Most of the staff were helpful and courteous. One staff entered the lobby cussing & upset and yelling. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. It looked unkempt throughout and run down. It is not a Wyndham standard, especially for the price. We spoke to other customers and they were very unhappy and were going to make calls to complain once they were home. For a $300/night hotel stay, this was not up to par at all. If I could have left, I would have.

Was promised a refund on my second night because I had to leave early due to an emergency. Nope the managers word cannot be taken truthfully

This hotel staff was rude in unprofessional Reservations made more than a month prior to trip and confirmed night before When arrived was told there were no rooms despite all of that. And they offered no help whatsoever to secure a room elsewhere Will never choose Wyndham nor book through hotels.com again What’s the point in having a reservation if there is no guarantee of a room

The property was being transitioned from a Holiday Inn to Wyndham property. Housekeeping did not come once during our stay, and our room did not have any soap – hand or body. The bathrooms were dirty, and there were no USB plugs to charge phones or medical equipment. The only good things are that the beds were comfortable and the front desk staff was very friendly.

The staff were SUPERB. Friendly and helpful and everything you could want. The main elevators were out, so you have to use the freight ones, which feel a little sketch.

Really nice staff, clean rooms nice service but make sure you grab snacks and drinks before you get there because prices on drinks and chip are ridiculous overpriced

Check in was horrible. I was almost 40 minutes to check in their systems are awful. Then they almost charged me twice for my room

This was the worst experience I have ever had at a hotel. Provided credit card for incidentals which apparently didn't go through. Was woken up late at night saying that it needed to be fixed, we were in bed and asked if it could be dealt with in the morning. 7am wake up call to rudely tell us to come down and fix the problem. Room was prepaid so no fear of us skipping out. We said we would be down, then loud banging on door by security to evict us. My wife in the shower, two kids in room and treated like a criminal. Spoke to manager who said there would be a credit which never happened. Unbelievable experience.

Hotel was under some construction. No hot water in shower on morning of Wednesday, April 3. ... Also, no fault of the hotel, but very disappointing that there are few stores open in the vicinity of the restaurant. Very few coffee shops, stors, bars or restaurants in walking distance.

I chose this hotel because it was located near the Susan B. Anthony Museum and House, where I had business. I found the hotel to be quiet and nice, but not exceptional. It was a little bit sparse, decor-wise. The bed was really comfortable with nice quality linens. I slept well. Nicely located on the River.

Check-in was horrible! Room was not ready until 6:15pm and should have been at 3pm. Everything in room was all plugged into a strip cord as you see in the photo! Fire hazard for nothing would work unless you unplugged stuff and replugged, it was microwave, fridge, tv and lights. Only plus… it’s a 5 min walk to the blue cross arena!

Stayed for a concert. Place was under construction but it was peaceful and the staff was nice. Just wished there was more shops around for food walking distance

I know construction outside the hotel on the traffic isn't the hotels fault, but it sucked! Then construction inside, started everywhere, yet so many areas, yet all partially completed? It's like NYS shutting down most of the rest areas.. almost all instead of every other. No restaurant opened the night of a huge concert? No vending machines with any drinks in them, while there is no open restaurant? One elevator while the other is out of service? Come on! Totally unacceptable... Totally. Who the hell is the Project manager? Not enough parking and being told just go across the street.. meaning drive around the block through construction and hopefully you'll find the right parking garage... Seriously? The ladies at the front desk were totally stressed, but had no help, they did great with little help. 85° in room, no matter what way you turned thermostat, it just got hotter and more stagnant. What a dump...

The full parking lot isn't open but I was able to park in the outdoor lot. Because they are under construction, the restaurant was not open, although an alternate restaurant was supposed open for dinner. However, it did not and so there was no food to be had - except frozen dinners! I got a good price and the people at the desk were nice, so that partially made up for it.

Ok stay, but breakfast was not included. They wanted to charge $11 for a mediocre breakfast buffet. Broken elevator,long wait times etc. one room had a towel over the smoke alarm. I would not recommend.

Hotel was good for the price. My room was clean with the exception of an open bar of soap in the shower. Staff in the lobby was very attentive. The breakfast for purchase had SOOOO much food for only $10, I split it and saved some for later which helped keep my travel costs down. Hotel was very quiet in Mid January so I don’t think there were many guests.

Hotel is under a major renovation. Elevator would skip floors when you are on your floor going down. Very frustrating. Breakfast buffet was included. Presentation and quality was poor. Staff were very friendly.

All the signage said Holiday Inn inside and outside the hotel. Listing was incorrect - no breakfast was available on-site. Kind of weird that very few other people seemed to be staying at the hotel, and a fuse box was open on our floor. Staff seemed friendly.

To start, we had booked 3 nights originally and then changed plans so wanted to cancel the 3rd night and Expedia would not allow us to do so. Luckily the hotel made this change at check in, that was the only positive experience at the hotel. The room we were given upon check in was still occupied when we opened the door. Went down the one operating elevator to get a new, clean room and ended up with a room overlooking the outdoor unopened pool which was under construction. The whole area around the hotel is currently under construction and the hotel is undergoing renovations. There was not any notice of this when making our reservation. A lot of the food options in the vicinity of the hotel are closed as a result. We had limited towels in the room and the woman at front desk was very rude when we had to go to pick up clean towels as no housekeeping service was available to deliver to our room. Went down to grab complimentary coffee early morning - only enough for 3 cups and no cream / sugar available at the time. Restaurant served buffet breakfast at a charge of $15 for what would typically be complimentary at most hotels. The least this hotel could do is offer free breakfast given the inconvenience of the construction and renovations. Also the garbage in our bathroom had not been emptied from the stay before us so I question the thoroughness of the cleaning procedures at this hotel. Will not be going back to this spot and would not recommend to others.

We had stayed at this property previously and were happy to see the upgrades! The only disappointment was breakfast. We needed to leave town fairly early so we wanted to get breakfast immediately when it opened at 6 AM. We went for breakfast about 610 and no one was to be found. Waited around about five or 10 minutes and still no one around to attend to us for breakfast so eventually left and just went for fast food. A little disappointing.
