Munstone House

The room was not like the photos on site. Seemed the superior double is the same as standard double. It was comfortable and the spa bath was amazing. Breakfast was ok, would have been helpful if food was labelled up for allergies. The owner was friendly

Dont be fooled by the glossy photos - this place is old, neglected, dated and filthy. No shower, hot taps that run cold, a dirty, stained bath, a filthy toilet seat, no toilet paper, tiny cramped bed and a room that looks like it was decorated by my nan in the 1960's! No reception desk, left standing in a hallway on arrival waiting for someone to answer a bell. Absolutely NO privacy in our room - doors with broken locks led directly into adjoining rooms - yes, total strangers can just walk into your room whenever they want!!! and you can hear every word being said by your neighbours! The owner SO obviously doesn’t want to be there and simply doesn't care whether you enjoy your stay or not. This hotel was booked as a treat for my wife on our wedding anniversary - we'd have been better off in a tent!

Gas ran out on day 2 so no heating for 2 days which was replaced by electric convection heaters. These tripped the consumer units every 5 minutes. Breakfast was poor, I’d finished the self serve before someone came out and offered me tea and toast. If they’ve got gas, may be ok but my trip was abysmal.

Book this place with the right expectations. 40 years ago it was probably the height of luxury - gold taps, fabulous baths. But today it doesn't boast the things we've come to expect (in our case, a shower!). Breakfast is an excellent buffet, but staff are generally invisible.

Lovely old property, but in need of some TLC!! Obviously only serving breakfast is a disadvantage, as nowhere close for eating!!

Lovely old manor house but very dusty in bathroom and needed through clean of bath. Place looked a little tired and lacked staff.lovely breakfast and car parking.

This hotel was lovely overall. Clean, warm and comfy with some classic touches. We were in the orchid suite with a four poster bed and Jacuzzi bath which was great. There were a few small repairs needed but its a huge property and not a chain hotel so to be expected. Only complaint that the hall was a little dusty on the stairs but our room was lovely and clean with everything needed. Breakfast was amazing with perfect fresh eggs and toast made to order, mushrooms and all the bits for a full English as well as continental. Grounds were very pretty for a wander too.

Really poor stay, could not wait to get out of the place, really dirty, cobwebs on the ceiling in the bathroom, no food options available upon arrival, very unhelpful, carpet had not been hoovered. Bed extremely uncomfortable and did not smell like fresh linen, did not stay for breakfast, the hotel is like a maze with no clear direction to get out, ended up on a staff stair way were the stairs are caving in, it’s very dangerous. Would not recommend

Our stay pleasant. It’s a lovely place - a beautiful old mansion . A kind staff, they make very good breakfast,. This old place has its pluses and minuses as one may expect. It’s not too far from the centre but you need to have a ride or taxi because there are no walking passes and the road leading to a countryside is narrow. One little detail- it would be helpful to have hand towels and also instructions on how to use a hot tub with a remote control. :) Thank you for your help and kindness!

The reception area was dirty with mouse dropping and cobwebs. The bed appeared to have not been changed from the previous occupant. There was mould around the bath and dust on the surfaces in the bedroom. In short the hotel was unfit to stay in and I had to find an alternative hotel at short notice. Despite informing the hotel of these issues they have refused to refund the cost of the accomodation.

There was no one present at reception for 20 minutes when we arrived at 4:00pm check-in. When a member of staff finally occurred, we were told bluntly that we had not paid for our stay. Which we had. The member of staff then requested that we send her a copy of our bank statement to her personal telephone as proof. This was alarming as this is considered a breach of GDPR. Some 50 minutes after our initial arrival, the member of staff finally concluded that we had paid for our room. We had a table booked at a local restaurant. Therefore we were late for our pre-booked evening meal. Our initial interaction with the hotel struck us as a extremely unprofessional and unfriendly establishment. This continued when we entered our room for the night and were horrified by dusty and dirty surfaces. That had clearly not been cleaned for sometime. We’ll move onto breakfast. We were told that breakfast would be served between 8 and 9am. Again, when we arrived at breakfast there was no one there. The cereal bowls were flithy, with what seemed to be fly droppings on them, juice glasses that stuck to the table and only 3 cups on the serving table if guests wanted coffee (there was no tea). To conclude, I would NEVER recommend a stay at Munstone House Hotel. EXTREMELY DISSAPPOINTING.

We could not find fault with this beautiful b&b .We stayed in the Kidwel Suite it was amazing we will definitely stay there again it was clean and comfortable

Awesome building with lovely spacious room, full of character and beautiful huge bath was a lovely surprise! The staff were welcoming and helpful, was a good night’s rest as building so solid then very quiet and don’t hear everyone through the walls! Easy to find following sat nav, very reasonable price and a beautiful place to stay, have already booked to come back next time I’m in the area !

Wonderful stay in the Orchid Suite. Comfy bed and pillows, and friendly staff. Breakfast food was great - a good mix of cereals and yoghurts as well as full breakfast options.

This could be an excellent hotel - whilst clean maintenance and repair is need in rooms and outside - not everything worked - it is a beautiful building needs a bit of investment although did not affect comfort of stay to any great extent

Family run, very friendly and helpful, in a lovely old building, beautifully decorated for Xmas. We were surprised at the size of our room, complete with four-poster and with a very large bathroom, which looked as if it had been recently renovated in a heritage style.

Older property, which nice period features in need of some renovation but of course would be rather expensive. Reflects the price in terms of value for money and had a good nights sleep.

The staff are absolutely fantastic and the hotel is awesome! Every room is beautiful but the executive rooms well they’re superb! I’ve been staying here since 2020 and tried other places but this is the best by far in Hereford!

Apart from a hiccup at the beginning waiting for staff to arrive to check in we cannot fault this hotel. Our room was in fact a suite with a four poster bed and enormous bathroom.The service and food at breakfast ( included in the price ) was excellent. The whole experience was great value for money.
