Good parking, lots of space. Nice clean room, very comfy bed and a great night’s sleep. Staff very helpful and attentive - cannot fault them. Shower was lovely, hot and powerful. All in all, very happy with my stay, would definitely stay again. Did not try any of the food so unable to comment.

Not a great stay. Arrived on a Saturday night to be told that the restaurant was closed (probably because there were fewer that half a dozen guests staying). The room was baltic so had to ask for the heating to be turned on, the TV was on the fritz and despite having asked for a quiet room found the one I was in was at the start of a corridor which seemed to be busy all night long, doors banging, people talking loudly, until 4.00am. The room got progressively colder, the radiator was behind thick curtains in a window bay and wouldn't heat the room so I resorted to turning the trouser press on to make some warmth!! It was made clear, when I complained, that it was my fault for not contacting the night porter! Offered a £50 refund but, on reflection, a full refund would have been more appropriate. Still awaiting the refund or some further communication.....

Lovely room (at a good price). Getting the right temperature in the shower was difficult. The replacement of towels each day is not eco-friendly. The fact that the restaurant was not available on a Sunday evening was very inconvenient.

I like the position of the Hickstead hotel - it has plenty of safe parking, good size bedrooms with plenty of amenities.Also a nice bar should you like a drink in the evening

Would not accommodate an early breakfast at the weekend, only a continental. The hotel desperately needs updating. The bath mat was mouldy and stank, the shower curtain wasn’t much better.

It was a nice stay but it wasn’t the cleanest, cob Webbs were all round the dining area and the food and drinks seemed to cost a lot which put us off eating there. The meals we did have were nice though. I think it just needs a bit of modernising.

Room had an unpleasant odour, dog in next door room whined and barked. Pillows lumpy and uncomfortable. Decor dated. Bedding dated. Cobwebs. Disappointing for a £90 stay. Won’t book again

Needs some moderizing and maybe more staff to help keep it clean. Seemed very understaffed. The room was pretty dirty even though i checked in late evening. Friendly staff though.

Our room should have been cleaned on Saturday. We went out twice during the day and left the door hanger on the outside. There was cleaning stuff outside in the corridor but no one cleaned. Then knocked the door about 4.30pm to ask if we needed anything when were getting ready to go out. The breakfast wasn't great. Cooked breakfast cold on the Saturday morning.

Friendly helpful staff and excellent well cooked hot food in the evening. Excellent large car park. Unfortunately very small full English breakfast was awful. Everything except sausage was very over cooked, some items actually burnt. Each morning something was missing. Juices was tasteless. Dinning room chairs was very stained in need of a good clean. Our room was a good size but needed updating and decorating. The bathroom had a musty smell with mouldy grouting. The outside grounds is disappointingly unkempt. Condition nothing like this picture above.

Comfortable room, clean bathroom.

Good hotel for a low budget stay - shame the noise from the first floor rooms is so loud when you’re staying on the ground floor - loud stomping at all hours isn’t great when you’re trying to sleep.

In spite of the naysayers and other poor reviews we approached our stay here with open minds and hearts - and we weren't disappointed! I will accede that the immediate area around the building itself looks a little unkempt and unloved but if you look beyond that to the property and the facilities it's a very different ball game! Everything inside was clean, the reception area, bar, restaurant and the room, which was surprisingly spacious with a nice comfy bed and a nice, bright, clean bathroom. There were tea/coffee making facilities, trouser press, wardrobe (rather than a dismal hanging rail) and hair dryer and obviously a good sized TV. The restaurant/breakfast room is sufficiently large with plenty of tables, but not so close together that it feels claustrophobic. The breakfasts are legendary, with almost everything you could wish for, from fresh fruit & croissants through to cereals, porridge, right up to a very ample Full English with all the trimmings, followed by tea, coffee, juice, as much as you wanted. Next, the staff - every one we met was warm, courteoous and welcoming, all of them. There were two that, in our estimation went above & beyond - Sharma, who seemed to be a Jack of All Trades, and master of all of them!! In the restaurant he was the epitome of quiet efficiency, even when bring pilloried by other, very disrespectful guests, so top marks Sharma for rising above all that and letting your character shine through!! The other was the female housekeeper!!

Great location Slightly dated but clean rooms noisy if interconnected as gap under door and can hear

Only downside was the room very hot as couldn’t turn off the radiator even though the window was open

Have stayed here many times. Booked an executive room which was no different from other rooms, table and two chairs rather than comfy chairs. No water or biscuits in the room. But the mattress was the worst thing, so hard and uncomfortable - any time either of us moved the whole bed creaked and groaned.

The bed was to firm for me.

First room had an odd/old smell with a connecting door which was not soundproof and could clearly hear a man coughing and talking next door. Asked to be moved and were promptly, by the somewhat unwelcoming and sullen receptionist. Hotel is a tad 70s, no aircon and looking its age. TV system was limited and could do with updating to current smart tv levels. Oodles of parking. Was in a convenient location for the purpose of our weekend.

Service was excellent, but the room was a little tired. The main issue that we had with the room was that the walls were very thin, and we could hear everything in the room next door. The person staying there was coughing loudly all night, as well as making several bathroom visits. We do not need to hear all of this.

Hickstead hotel is very welcoming and a home from home. All the double rooms are extra spacious compared to peer hotels, with the added benefit of dining table and business desk…ideal for business travellers. Luxurious and comfortable King size beds! Highly recommended.

When I was lost finding the hotel the receptionist very kindly looked up where I was and guided me to the hotel. When on a Sunday evening I was too tired to go out to supper the staff arranged for a sandwich to be made for me. This is the sort of thing that clients remember later and is such good practice.

On arrival day, no lunch available which is fine but the young woman on reception just told us she could not offer recommendations of where to eat: ‘I don’t come from this area’.

My husband has to use a walker, they even put a ramp in s that he could get in the bar. I have never stayed anywhere the staff were so friendly without being pushy. Our dogs were made welcome, I cannot speak highly enough for them.

We arrived early, but staff was super considerate and despite the fact that we had four rooms, immediately found a space for us, even made sure the rooms were close to each other. Breakfast was AMAZING. Again, terrific staff. Those folks deserve raises.

This hotel is excellent value. I had a room with an adjoining door through which I could hear everything happening next door. I raised it with reception and they moved me straight away - so excellent service too.

Stayed here for 1 night . The staff were great . However the management need to make sure all TVs are working as I had no signal but staff swapped tv over 2 hours later . Plus would have been nice to have a heater in room as room was cold . The radiator was off .

The Hickstead Hotel is a great location just off the A23( in a quiet location) But very convenient. The hotel, has a great size car park . The hotel is visually pleasing. The Reception staff are all very friendly and helpful. The Rooms are clean and comfortable. Great choice for breakfast, the dining area a little dated but clean and comfortable.

Parking on site is a plus. Cute hotel. A little outdated but very clean. Checking in was a breeze, nice lady at front desk. We had a drink at bar and appetizer from restaurant. Very good service and food. Breakfast was good in morning. Overall, nice stay and would return again.

Room was large and clean although a bit dated. Mattress was hard and very uncomfortable. Payed for breakfast which was very poor. Service was good , food was terrible.

Breakfast was simply awful. Most of the full english had obviously been sitting on a hot plate for a very long time. Bacon was like rubber. One tiny wrinkled, tasteless sausage. My wifes scrambled egg was greasy and had a strange smell. It was so bad she couldnt face the rest of the breakfast. Manager was full of apologies but refused to refund one breakfast.

Reception was great, easy check in lots of parking. Rooms clean and tidy. Strange layout with the TV the opposite end of thr room but the mirror right over the bed. Felt a little odd. Breakfast was slow service, staff more interested in chatting and laughing in the kitchen, but was nice when it came out.
