I stayed one night, this place is excellent. Super clean, loads of parking, I arrived late,there was access to room via key box.would and will definitely stay here again. Oh yeah, bottle of water, tea/coffee/ porridge and pastry gratis..shower was unreal

This is a very nice away from it all stop. Well furnished rooms and fresh new walkin shower room. Lovely views. There is noone there. So no services you have a key box and code. Nice bars and restaurants short drives away. Nothing there. I love it. Have to be self sufficient car vital.

A good alternative to staying in Halifax for us while visiting family. Clean and comfy room with a modern feel and easy contact-free checkin/out. Has parking, but we were car free so used local taxis for the most part to/from Sowerby Bridge centre (£10 each way) and also walked a few times (be aware, quite a steep but enjoyable climb, takes around 25 mins). Nice quiet surroundings and good views over the Calderdale valley. Although no on-site amenities now (shop/cafe/restaurant/bar) we appreciated the in-room tea/coffee and the mini toiletries. Only suggestion for improvement could be some sort of general vending machine of drinks/light snacks ? Overall a good find and would use again.

A very pleasant stay, self check in was smooth with lots of information provided and the instant porridge breakfast was a nice touch. An easy walk down to Sowerby Bridge for good pubs and restaurants, but recommended a taxi back, particularly at night.

The little touches like breakfast porridge/pastry and water. The fridge, wine glasses were nice. The place was really nice quality. The outside seating area is a nice benefit. The only things that could improve would be a mirror on the wall near hairdryer to do hair, luckily I’d brought my own as this tends to be a common issue. I enjoyed the view, it was one of the reasons for booking but if the vegetation is cut back there won’t be much of a view when full leaf cover in summer which might then cause disappointment. I’d definitely return.

Well presented terrace room with a super view down into the valley. Nice bathroom, particularly the combination rain shower. Fridge insitu. Bed was comfortable enough although was a bit warm under the duvet (even with the terrace door ajar all night) - then again, I do prefer a low tog duvet all year round. Access via car is up narrow, steep, uneven roads, but there is ample/secure parking on site. Check in via keybox - no meet and greet

Another excellent stay at the Hobbit host is very friendly and nothing too much trouble if you have any questions. Rooms are spotlessly clean and lovely decor. Car park right outside the door with ample parking. This time we had a ground floor room but still a lovely view of the valley. The porridge pots and croissants are a lovely touch. Also we were celebrating our anniversary and was given early check in and late check-out which was a great gesture. Will definitely be back

Excellent property with everything you could wish for! Lovely spacious room which was extremely clean. Comfy bed plus we were lucky enough to have a room with a little balcony. Short walk into the town which had plenty to offer. Will definitely check availability if we're back in the area.

The property was modern and cleaned and decorated to a high standard. The complimentary breakfast was very much appreciated. Self check-in was easy. Our only niggle was our accommodation smelt strongly of cigarette smoke as though someone had been smoking in the room. As nonsmokers this wasn't pleasant. The booking confirmation stated you get your check-in details and keybox code 24 hours prior however it's actually around lunchtime on the day. Updating this detail I'm sure would result in less queries for the owners/managers of the property.

Nice cosy little room we had for two nights. The view from the balcony is beautiful. Nice little touches with the water bottles in the fridge and breakfast items left on the table. Clean enough. Shower tray and tiles could do with a good scrub to look clean again. Check in was easy with self check in lock box to get room key. I was messaged a code to get into room. I was disappointed to see other guests not abiding to the rules as the room opposite us, the gentleman was smoking on his balcony which isn’t a pleasant smell if you are not a smoker. I would recommend friends and family to stay. Overall a lovely stay. Thank you

This is our third stay at the new hobbit. Communication is always great, offering early check in and check out if able. Perfect location for access to Halifax and piece hall and sowerby bridge itself. Very easy to get Uber pick up and drop off. Spotlessly clean with beautiful furnishings and a gorgeous view. Little extras like chilled water in the fridge, plenty of tea and coffee as well as the porridge pot and croissant for breakfast. Wonderful!

Lovely little place to stay unfortunately the cleaning let this down on this stay. I have atayed here multiple times for business, its quite, comfortable and out the way. No restaurant on site. Now we come to the issue of cleaning. The fridge in the room was a nice touch with bottled water but its stank like it hadnt been cleaned in months. Shower had hair from previous patron, and the desk still had sticky cup marks on it. I will have to give careful consideration when booking around this area in future.

Nice location, albeit a bit isolated. Whilst modern, the room had seen some action and needed redecoration. I also found a hair in the bed, which was concerning. Car park is big, but was full on my second night.

This was what we needed for a brief stay in the Halifax area. Comfortable and well equipped, everything clean and in good working order. Great bed and linen, soft towels and decent size mugs for tea! It is far from everything, so need a car or get a taxi - in theory you should be able to walk to the nearest pub, but the reality is a vertical climb back in the evening! I do want to recommend the Puzzle Inn, which hosted the best musical evening I've ever been to in a pub.

There should be no concern about there not being a reception on hand, as I sent a text query and received an immediate response. I thoroughly recommend the New Hobbit and wouldn't hesitate to revisit.

The room was very clean and comfy. Had everything thing you needed. Self check-in was smooth and easy. The only downside was the room was very warm, there was a fan supplied but even with the windows open it was very hard to cool the room. But overall excellent stay

The room was absolutely fine for a short visit. It was quite compact, with a huge, comfortable bed and ample hanging space. There wasn’t much drawer space if staying for more than a couple of nights, but as I was only staying for one night I didn’t need it. The balcony as small, but allowed me the option to sit outside

The room was really nicely decorated and spacious enough for my stay. Bed was really comfortable and the bathroom was spotless. Only downside was that there are no facilities nearby as the pub is no longer functioning, however being brought up in Halifax I know my way around so this wasn't a problem. Complimentary breakfast items was a nice touch even though it is advertised as room only.

The radiator wasn’t even on so I don’t know if the heat was coming from the bathroom towel rail or internal building heating but I couldn’t sleep as it was so hot. Also pan au chocolat were left for breakfast and porridge pots but our pan au chocolat were out of date.

What a great hotel. We stayed in one of the rooms with a balcony giving fantastic views over the surrounding area. The room was well equipped with a refrigerator and even nice breakfast treats. The staff were very helpful and supplied us with extra items when needed. The walk-in shower was wonderful. And all at a great price.

Another excellent stay at the Hobbit host is very friendly and nothing too much trouble if you have any questions. Rooms are spotlessly clean and lovely decor. Car park right outside the door with ample parking. This time we had a ground floor room but still a lovely view of the valley. The porridge pots and croissants are a lovely touch. Also we were celebrating our anniversary and was given early check in and late check-out which was a great gesture. Will definitely be back

What a lovely little place , very clean and welcoming. Room was warm but a standing fan was in room. Self check in went very well. We arrive late at night but I had already got the details we needed by text message. Had a dog who settled very well for her 1st night away from home. Only downside if you are walking the hill to hotel is like a mountain 😂 made us all ready for a good nights sleep 😴

Well presented terrace room with a super view down into the valley. Nice bathroom, particularly the combination rain shower. Fridge insitu. Bed was comfortable enough although was a bit warm under the duvet (even with the terrace door ajar all night) - then again, I do prefer a low tog duvet all year round. Looking at the photos on the website I was expecting a hotel with a bar and restaurant so was disappointed when I realised it was just rooms. I should have read the reviews but selected it because friends were staying there. The drive from Sowerby Bridge was harrowing up the hill and as someone already commented, not for the faint hearted. Didn't want to go back down to find something to eat. However there is a better approach from Ripponden which I found out later. That said, the room was fresh, very clean, warm and comfortable. You could smell the cleanliness which is always good in my book. Very organised check in and out. Oh and the porridge and pastries were a nice surprise. Would I use again? All things considered maybe.

Nice clean room with everything you need. Room was very warm and not much ventilation. Location is interesting, amazing views but it is high on a hillside. So an easy walk down to the town but a bit of a hike back. Overall happy with our stay and would visit again.

The Hobbit Rooms are in a lovely quiet location high in the hills above Sowerby Bridge with lovely views. The rooms themselves are comfortable, clean and cozy with a really super fab shower. We’ve stayed there twice now and have booked again for Christmas. The Hobbit used to be a pub and restaurant too that has sadly closed but there are plenty of other options in Sowerby Bridge and surrounding areas.

Stayed here for a wedding nearby. It was a great find and had everything we needed. I received an email to say that there were no facilities for food or drink. There was a nice touch of a porridge pots and crossiants left for us.

Lovely place to stay, the view was wonderful and so nice to sit on the balcony and watch the sunset. Shame there is no food at the property as you are on a very steep hill but a lovely touch of porridge and pastries for the morning. Will stay again

The rooms are well kept and up to date. I didn’t realize the bar/restaurant ant wasn’t opened which was a disappointment. However, the room was comfortable and the porridge came in handy for dinner :-)

Very confusing with the ‘old’ Hobbit web sites still online. New Hobbit has no restaurant or pub, though this was explained at final payment and full refund offered if this had mistakenly been expected. Also complementary croissants and instant porridge provided in the room, which I took advantage of. Overall a good stay if all you want is good, cosy room and take your own food and drink.

The room was really nicely decorated and spacious enough for my stay. Bed was really comfortable and the bathroom was spotless. Only downside was that there are no facilities nearby as the pub is no longer functioning, however being brought up in Halifax I know my way around so this wasn't a problem. Lovely room, modern, new decor, clean, good extras like ironing board and iron However the room was way too hot. The radiator wasn’t even on so I don’t know if the heat was coming from the bathroom towel rail or internal building heating but I couldn’t sleep as it was so hot. Also pan au chocolat were left for breakfast and porridge pots but our pan au chocolat were out of date.
