Eagle Mountain House and Golf Club

This beautiful historic hotel has managed to retain its charm while incorporating some tasteful upgrades to the lobby and dining area. One of the standout features is the amazing deck, complete with rocking chairs, where you can unwind with a morning coffee or a drink from the bar while basking in the stunning beauty of the White Mountains.

Advertised a pool but pool under construction rather poor communication

I was disappointed because I chose this accommodation, which was out of my way, because I needed EV charging overnight. I also paid extra, compared to other hotels in the area, for this extra amenity. But when I checked in, the management stated that they only have a regular 110v outlet.

Good location nice hotel good if you are a golfer 9 hole golf course on the property. Restaurant on site good for breakfast and sandwiches.

The property was advertised as having a swimming pool and the email that I received from the prior to our visit said that the swimming pool would not be open until Memorial Day 2024. Ince your trip was after this date I fully expected that the swimming pool would be open. Seeing the condition of the pooch would not expect it to be open this year. Since the temperatures were high this was a great disappointment to us, especially as there was not really any other outdoor space to sit in other than the porch. The hotel is obviously a historic building and we did not expect it to be perfect but the building needs a lot of repairs

Love the new updates - main floor and new gym and the pool was great. Can't beat the location. We have been coming there for the last 10 years and look forward to it every year.

After looking at a lot of hotels, we lucked out choosing the Eagle Mountain house. The hotel is beautiful, clean, with nice size rooms, great food, great golf, and in a great area todo stuff. The staff is welcoming and nice. Would stay here again and again. Make sure you take the time to sit on the front porch and relax. Use the brand new gym, play some ping pong in their game room. Ride the coolest elevator ever. Place is a gem.

A wonderful historic hotel up in the White Mountains. We’ve been to a few Historic Hotels of America and this on was excellent - from the warm welcoming staff, the well maintained building, to the wonderful mountain views. The hotel was very easy to get to via car and had ample parking. The rooms were very spacious and clean. The dining options were also wonderful (hot breakfast, cold breakfast, and dinner menu). The wonderful staff from the front people, the restaurant staff, and the cleaners made this a memorable experience. Looking forward to visiting again!

The elevator did not work. We had to take our bags down a narrow stairway in the middle of the night to make an early flight from Boston Logan Airport. The toilet didn’t flush. We had to open the toilet and manually flush the water.

The Eagle Mountain House is lovely! We especially enjoyed the cozy and inviting lounge areas on the first floor. The hotel is stately, and the surroundings are serene. You can enter the extensive network of X-C ski trails from just outside the front door. We also enjoyed the Prime Rib Dinner special in the historic dining room. The staff were attentive and wonderful. Our only small complaint is that our room was rather small and over-priced. We opted for the modest sized room without the Mountain view, but we still paid $215 per night. And breakfast was not included.

Torn curtain, hair in shower,

This is VERY unlike me to write a review however, it is very important for you to know that the condition of our room was unacceptable. Broken tiles on the bathroom floor that I almost tripped over, dirty carpet (stains and ground-in dirt/grime), very dusty. After observing the dust, I swept my hand across the top of the headboard - there was so much dust, dirt and grime that I wiped away. This is unacceptable. Also, we did not get the type of room that we requested. We wanted a rustic New England mountain getaway and I was crushed.

Nice historic feeling and vibe but def needs work with all the cracked tile. The towels were dingy and smelled hundreds of years old. This place has gone down hill

This is a wonderful, older hotel with lots of character, and one of the cleanest I’ve stayed at. We enjoyed the porch that overlooks the golf course and mountain view, and the waterfall down the road. There are plans to renovate, but I hope it maintains its unique charm.

Very nice vintage hotel with lots of original details. Clean and comfortable

Really beautiful old New England hotel! Really appreciated how clean the entire place was. The two room suite was just the right amount of space for myself, boyfriend and his son. The beds were probably the only downside, the pull out couch mattress was pretty hard to sleep on, we didn’t even pull it out night two. Other than that it’s a beautiful location and all the staff ere very friendly.

The location was perfect, tucked away in the foothills of the mountains with spectacular views. I love that this is a historic hotel, one of four remaining of the grand old wooden hotels in the White Mountains. The lobby, restaurant and bar was beautiful, well appointed and recently updated without ruining the historic charm. The rooms on the other hand really need to be updated. We had a king suite and the living room looked like it was last updated on 1975. The sofa and chairs we extremely uncomfortable. The bedroom was the same, badly in need of a quality update. Nowhere to plug into next to the bed, just two prong extension cords running under the bed. The bathroom as OK, missing handle for the crank window, no hook for a hand towel, the tub was chipped and the shower had no adjustments. Fire hydrant on or off were the choices. The pool was attractive but freezing. We had dinner one night, it was a mixed bag, good rolls and salad but the salmon was mushy and over cooked, I think it was frozen. Unfortunately, the coffee was horrible, worse than horrible and the breakfast buffet was kind of a bad joke. We wanted to love the place and parts of it we did. The staff was fantastic, 100% rating for everyone we encountered but if they can't improve on the food and room experience I suspect they will be going out of business within a few years.

Went for an overnight with my husband. The price was very good, but because we were on the first floor, the Mountain View was actually a view from the bathroom and the sitting room with the majority of the view being from the parking lot. There was virtually no view from the bedroom. If this was clarified in the price, I would have booked somewhere else

Old window ac didn’t work

Comfortable property. Rooms are nice but could use a little renovation . Still property kept up nicely.

Beautiful historic building . If you book , you have to realize it is an old building and it shows in certain areas . The third floor worked well , otherwise I believe it would be too noisy on the other floors . Nice size king room with sitting area . Close to attractions

Great location with beautiful views. Nice rooms, but they lacked some of the basics you expect from a hotel like a mini fridge, plugs near the head of the bed, magnify mirror in the bathroom. Overall would recommend for the location, price, and excellent staff

This was likely my 20th stay at Eagle Mountain House, I absolutely love the hotel, but this was the first time in all of my visits that I was assigned a room I did not like, I did book the least expensive room, I realize this, but the room was very small, I'd say an attic room, with the ceiling very low and slanted in one area making it necessary to duck down quite low to get into bed or you would hit your head, I'm short 5'3" and I needed to duck down, we were only staying one night so I didn't change rooms. That was very disappointing, it was an anniversary trip and we avoided being in the room as much as we could.

The rooms are old and in need of renovation and modernization

We had a booking here that, through a glitch, we never received confirmation of, so assumed it didn’t go through. The hotel reached out during the “stay” to check in w me and I told them I was unaware of the booking and asked to cancel. Still charged me full fare and refused to engage in any discussion about a partial refund or credit despite never setting foot on the grounds. Not a great sign for anyone booking as there amid often a need to modify/cancel with weather and flight delays these days. Be forewarned!

Location is great and thats about it ! We stayed for two nights and realized how overpriced and unkept this place is. Door locks in bathroom gets stuck, super dangerous. My child got locked in and I had to call the housekeeper for the help. Housekeeping missed cleaning our room and when I reached out the front desk they didn’t apologise or tried to understand or explain why was it missed. So I asked for some refils and they obliged.

Awful service

I love the hotel. But hate the fact I called 4 times before my stay and left messages and no one called me back. It is important for the hotel to have a live person on the phones. It really left a bad taste in my mouth. I love the hotel but you need to get a person to answer the phone or at least return messages. Very unprofessional.

A Timeless Retreat in the Heart of Jackson. I’ve been coming to the Eagle Mountain House for 30 years. My first visit was for my cousin’s wedding, and I remember being struck by the grandeur of this expansive, historic wooden hotel—and of course, the stunning mountain views that are just as breathtaking today. I keep coming back because Jackson is such a quaint and charming town, and the Eagle Mountain House never loses its magic. Sitting on the front porch in a rocking chair, taking in the view, I often glance at the railings and admire the craftsmanship and strength of this old-fashioned structure. You can feel the history in every detail—decades of guests who’ve made memories here. Inside, the hotel has seen some thoughtful updates, but I’m glad the original wood floors still creak in places. It’s not ultra-modern or luxurious, but it’s wonderful in its own, nostalgic way. The staff are friendly, local folks who genuinely seem to care about doing a good job. If you’re looking to be charmed by Jackson, New Hampshire, I highly recommend giving the Eagle Mountain House a try. It’s a place that stays with you.

Beautiful hotel with great staff! Not a lot to do nearby after sunset, but a great area for visiting Kancamagus highway and Mount Washington! Surrounded by beautiful foliage!

Great location. Plenty to eat nearby (including at the facility). Jasckson waterfall is less than a mile away. Beautiful scenery.

Very pretty location with the 9-hole golf course. Conveniently located for exploring Jackson and the surrounding area.

A really nice old property in the mountains. The staff was all fantastic. I loved getting coffee on the porch and watching the sunrise in the morning. Only about a quarter mile from Jackson falls. There is a trail coming off the parking lot that is pretty challenging.

The Eagle Mountain is an older hotel in very good shape with some really interesting touches (e.g., an old-style elevator and switchboard) adding to the charm of the hotel. Our room was nice, updated, and comfortable. It was great to have an elevator in this older inn for transporting our luggage upstairs. We only stayed one night and did not eat at the hotel or play golf on the course. The location was good for touring the fall colors along the Kancamagus Hwy and driving to the top of Mt Washington.

Grand hotel built in 1870's. Charm everywhere but needs updating in worn areas, furniture, lighting. Very quiet. Food was excellent at in house restaurant. Had issues with Bill and they never called us back. :-(

Loved the hotel. Came to town to ski the Jackson Ski Touring Foundation's trail system. EMH has ski in/out access to the absolutely amazing trails. Happy, friendly staff. Great room. Bar and restaurant were fun. However, during our stay the bar and restaurant were closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. They provided a free continental breakfast on those days, but no dinner or cocktails. Highly recommended. We'll be returning.

Overall, I love this place for its old time atmosphere. Not overrun with kids, which is nice! The dining room could use a make over - need to make it more casual and interesting and less like a wedding or a Rotary Club luncheon venue Breakfast was a bit disorganized. Where to go for the "cold breakfast"? Staff was wandering around ignoring people waiting to come in. Coffee and tea in the lobby was great to have. Some more newspapers - have the daily USA Today or a few copies of the NYT on Sunday in the lobby. Idea: turn the "gift" shop into a remote working space for folks to check their email or to do some work. Overall, great place. :)

The hotel was beautiful!! Well appointed if not a bit dated. Large golf course attached. Breakfast wasnt included and for the price i was charged, the buffet was lacking. It was very dark and tucked over in a corner. I had to guess what a couple things were because there was no lights on in the dining room. The food I did have was good but not worth the cost. The room was very nice and the bed was comfortable. I would definitely go again!!
