We had such a beautiful stay here and have already recommended it to everyone we know. The spa/pool was a dream and everything was so peaceful. The restaurant was delicious aswell. The only 2 baby flaws I had was that there was some rubbish by the spa on our first day and it was still there the following morning (it had just blown down a bit). It was only like a wrapper or something plastic but rubbish in general grosses me out. The other was that the big outdoor fireplace wasn’t put on and we were really looking forward to sitting there. We did end up sitting up the top and chatting with some other lovely couples but it would have been nice to sit down the bottom there. Otherwise everything was 10/10. The check in was super easy, the room was clean and the views were lovely. We will definitely be returning

Spicer’s guesthouse was lovely, with modern and comfortable rooms and the grounds were very pretty, with manicured gardens and wild kangaroos watching from a distance. The staff were friendly but maybe not always as attentive as they could have been. Given the guesthouse is the premium hotel of the Hunter Valley and was quite expensive I’m just uncertain as to what exactly we paid for. I think if you’re going to have a premium price you should be able to justify it in some way by distinguishing yourself from the competition but it was unclear to me if Spicer’s really achieved this. It was a nice hotel without being amazing or anything.

Property is very underwhelming in person, online looks spectacular however, our king bedroom was very small, no natural lighting and felt like we were in a shoe box, our room had cob webs and was poorly cleaned, the bathroom towel racks were not heated, the bathroom fan did not work and we had troubles with the air conditioning, the property is fine but overall our stay was nothing exciting, the hospitality was average and nothing out of the ordinary, we were hoping for more based on the reviews however both me and my partner would not recommend this place to anyone, save your money and put it towards something more exciting!

Considering the cost of staying here a night I would have expected better servicing of the room.. There was a stain on the carpet and the carpet was not vacuumed. The room was just tidied. The view we had of the countryside was nice. If anything could be done it would be better for the bathroom NOT to have a sliding door as it did not close properly leaving a gap where one could hear all noises.

This was a very special stay. The property felt new and clean and rooms were good size. We really enjoyed our Valentines dinner at Eremo's and the breakfasts each morning were delicious. Our morning view always included kangaroos which made it extra special. We booked the Spa at their sister resort and it was excellent. Great location in the wine country and we enjoyed three different wineries during our three night stay.

On arrival there was a car club gathering for lunch and we were told there was a photo shoot and we could park in carpark and walk to reception rather than parking at entrance to reception. Not what would be expected of a 5 star property Staff at reception were friendly when advised of our complaint Room was small and no where to hang clothes No blinds just plantation shutters (look nice) try to sleep in but can’t because of so much light coming in Charged our credit card prior to check out rather than taking from booking site - luckily we checked Will be staying at Kirkton Park next time

Room was nicely decorated and well kept, but overall it does not come across as a luxury accommodation. Room was great. Service felt like it had dropped a bit, no pool bar service, breakfast isn’t what it used to be an a general feel that wasn’t at the level we have experienced here previously. Air con was set so cold in the restaurant we were sat in the lounge after dinner with blankets on! Just dragged the the whole meal experience down which was one of the main reasons we come back. Reconsidering this now.

During our 5-day trip to Hunter Valley and Port Stephens, this hotel was by far the best choice we made. For our anniversary trip, the hotel staff upgraded us to the Hunter Suite and surprised us with a lovely bottle of local sparkling wine—such a thoughtful touch! We also had dinner at Botanica, one of their associated restaurants, located about a 15-minute drive from the hotel. The meal was excellent and well worth the trip. Breakfast at the hotel was another highlight, as we enjoyed it outdoors in a serene and picturesque setting. One of the most memorable moments was sipping wine while watching kangaroos hop around the property—a truly magical experience. The hotel grounds are stunning, and the attention to detail made our stay unforgettable. Overall, a beautiful property with outstanding service that made our anniversary trip extra special.
