The good first: the room was very spacious for my family of 4. The beds were comfortable and for once, the temperature of the room was not too hot like most of the hotels we stayed at. Check in was easy. Great location. The bad: I had messaged the host in the morning of our check-in day, but never got a response - to this day. We got to the hotel late and as soon as we opened the door, we were greeted by a horrible smell. Apparently the shower curtain was left open while wet and that creates a moldy smell. The whole room smelled, but it was the worst in the bathroom. I messaged the host but there is no one on-site to help so we were left with the bad smell all night. It helped somewhat to leave the window open and keep the bathroom door closed. But it really wasn't pleasant especially for the amount of money we paid for the room. To top it all off, the shower curtain doesn't prevent all the water from getting all over the bathroom floor. My daughter slipped on the wet floor. She fell and landed on her wrist. Thankfully it wasn't broken. My last message to the host was never followed up. Disappointing. Because of all this, the Vest Mar was our least favorite of all the places we stayed.

Prices in Iceland are high. This was comparable. Nicely appointed. Clean and comfortable room. Liked the kitchenette. Plates and settings. Microwave and refrigerator. Pictures did not represent the room. Nicer! Restaurant was very good! Family enjoyed the food- prices again are high in Iceland but well thought out ingredients and taste. Comparable pricing. Big drink selection. Caution. No elevator. 3 flights of stairs.

We had a pleasant stay at this hotel. The room was a good size, with very comfortable beds and a nice TV. The bathroom itself was spacious, although the sink was surprisingly small and not very practical. The hotel has only two floors and does not have an elevator, so keep that in mind if you have heavy luggage or mobility concerns. The location is excellent, making it easy to explore the area. One of the highlights was the restaurant downstairs, which serves the best espresso in town. Overall, it’s a comfortable and well-located hotel that we would recommend.
