The nineteenth hole, also known as the clubhouse, was not open during my visit. The only available bar was a small and uninspiring lounge in the main hotel. I would not have made a reservation if I had known this at the time of booking. Additionally, the gym and spa were in poor condition—tired and dirty—urgently needing the planned upgrades. I wouldn’t consider returning until all the necessary refurbishments have been completed, especially not at the current cost.

Amazing service and great location. Really enjoyed our stay. Breakfast options were great. The spa is pretty busy but recommended going early morning for a quiet swim.

Generally an enjoyable stay. However, no Gin, Port or Baileys available at any bar. Dinner ok, expensive for what it was. Excellent breakfast. Good pool and facilities, but the sauna was out of order, as was the swimming costume spinner. Beautiful grounds. Thoroughly enjoyed the clay pigeon shooting.

Hotel staff were amazing. Location and the building was spectacular! We went to the spa and this was a bit disappointing, there were no locker keys so had to take my clothes and bag into the swimming area. We were told we would be given gowns and slippers but they didnt have any , we had to wait for somebody to go and find gowns but they didnt have slippers. The showers did not have any shower gel or shampoo the bottles were empty.....the machine to spin costumes was broken and no plastic bags for wet costumes The water bottles to get a drink in the Pool were empty! I am a member of a Gym where i live and all of the above things are a priority so i was very surprised that all of thiese things were lacking! We didnt bother to go back to the spa the next day! Our bedside tables and lamps were covered in dust! The patio area outside of our room could have done with a sweep and power wash....too dirty to sit out there which was a shame! Food was really good.... that is the afternoon tea, dinner and breakfast! Reception staff were really helpful!

The staff absolute brilliant made our stay extra special credit to them all. Stunning views amazing mansion and spa only let down was the dead flies around the pool, hot tub and steam room easily fixable. Sad to hear it will be closing but we will be back once reopened amazing stay.

this place is just outside of luton (around a 5 minute drive). we arrived on the night and was greeted by a lovely man at the gate who asked for our booking (instantly made us feel safe). we were then told where to go and arrived to the mansion house where you can park right outside the building. we walked into reception and we were immediately greeted with smiles and the staff were incredibly kind. we were showed to our room which was absolutely amazing. we had a day at the spa, in luton and also in the pool facilities which were at lovely temperatures. we got into bed and were very upset to have to go home the next day so we made the decision to stay another night seeing as the staff were all very polite, well mannered and dressed. overall the staff were absolutely amazing and accommodated to our needs in an amazing way.

Wonderful stately hotel building and excellent servicel. Staff were friendly, polite and efficient. We had a very comfortable stay with our dog in the Park area of the hotel. The swimming pool and spa area was lovely and the grounds around the hotel are of outstanding beauty. We ate at the Brasserie in the stable block. The food was delicious although quite pricey.

Booked for a family of 3 in a family room (with a sofa bed). No sofa bed or extra bed in the room (and only robes and towels for 2) and took a long time and numerous calls to sort (initially moved to another room which had very noisy radiators and was very cold). Eventually had to ask to be moved back to the first room with a camp bed brought in for our son, who was very tired by that point. Both swimming pools not working (we were not informed of that despite having booked a morning swim). Took over 40 minutes for milk and cookies to arrive for our son the second night, despite chasing. The staff didn’t even ask how our stay was upon check-out.

The ground were beautiful 10/10, the swimming pool and steam felt a bit like a lido - not the cleanest. The staff were friendly but not the most professional. The rooms are a good size but they need alot of love and a lick of paint. It has potential to be a five star property if someone took over and invested a lot of money into it, but as of now i would rate it 3* or 4 star max. The price does reflects 3 or 4 star, overall it was good to see once but I won't be going back.

First of all it’s a beautiful old property with lovely grounds. Clearly at some point in time it was a fantastic mansion house however it’s now in desperate need of renovation or very least some paint, new furniture and TLC. The whole building is tired, our room was huge however really needed a deep clean and a good paint - everything in there from the iron, to the bathroom is dated. The staff are very friendly and do the best they can I’m sure. Would like to see the property bought back to its former glory… It’s convenient to Luton airport set in lovely grounds and given there is not tons around we would probably stat again but put some money back into this property and it would be much appreciated but all I’m sure who stay there.

Beautiful property and accommodation. Everything was perfect for 4 adults and 1 child. We had two rooms which were very spacious, well anppointed and clean. Had the full breakfast every morning of our 3 day stay. Dinner one night. Delicious food and excellent service in the restaurants. Excellent service at the front desk also. Everyone was very friendly and helpful throughout.

This is a beautiful hotel in a beautiful setting and over the years have stayed here many times. However, it is quite apparent that there has been no investment to the property and it is looking tired, scruffy, dirty and not well maintained. Such a shame. Appreciate the hotel is old-fashioned however the fittings need to be updated. The housekeeping was done very well but dont like staying in this level of hotel and having plastic bathroom glasses to drink your water out of.

Standards fell well short of expectations for its reputed 5-star status. This is definitely not a spa, nor was it in any way a relaxing spa experience. Pool area was cold, poorly maintained, dirty, untidy. Restaurants were closed or full; lounge food was very delayed and Luke warm once arrived. Staff were very pleasant and doing their very best, whilst recognising (and saying to us) the hotel was ill managed and couldn’t cope. Room was ok, stifling hot, dusty around and under bed, old and tired. We wasted £350.

Nice setting and grounds. Work seems to have started on a 3 year renovation project. Parts of the interior are worn out but its probably lasted many decades and the estate was very clean. Staff were very helpful.

We spent about 60 mins before we were offered a suitable room. It’s a lovely place but old. The rooms in mansion house have old furniture and in the first room a bath that could easily be 40 years old. It was not clean and so the very friendly staff showed us 4 other rooms all the same and we picked the best of them but still very dissatisfied because it had very poor WiFi. We were about to leave but they showed us a room in parklands. If you stay there it’s very nice quiet and a king bed( mansion house have doubles?!) room 104 very nice . Bad start it we had a very nice time. Spa is nice and dinner steak is very good.

A beautiful location but as a hotel, the room was looking rather tired. Old worn taps in the bathroom, thin towels that smelt strongly of peroxide. And the TV didnt work. Many of the doors in corridors where also looking chipped and worn. I would call it a 3 star hotel no more despite the beautiful tapestries on the walls. Large comfy bed though, and breakfast was good, though at an extra £20 it should be.

The service here is outstanding, very friendly staff willing to go above and beyond to assist you in every area. We were offered an upgrade due to being on crutches which was greatly appreciated and our room was beautiful but perhaps a bit basic in comparison to similar hotels we’ve previously stayed at. The junior suite does have a separate sitting area which would be wonderful on a longer stay. The grounds are stunning and our bed was very comfy and we had a good nights sleep despite there being no air con in the mansion itself (provided with fans that did a good job tho). The biggest disappointment for us though was the breakfast. Breakfast was included in our package but the service we received was terrible. We waited 30 minutes for coffee to arrive. There were no clean glasses, no clean plates, the spoons tasted of metal. It was just pretty disappointing given the cost of the stay and the fact that we’ve stayed at premier inns with better breakfast!! Apparently the fact we were upgraded means we should just accept the poor service- this is what I was told when I made a complaint! We wouldn’t stay here again on balance, as I can say we felt the staff were brilliant and it had lots of positives but the breakfast and customer service really let the hotel down.

Beautiful property with highly attentive, friendly staff. Our room was spacious but needed some attention, however. The TV did not work, the toilet was very finnicky to flush, and the towel rack did not heat up. They were kind enough to offer us another room, but it was too late at night for us to be bothered. They offered us a round of drinks as compensation but the wine they sent was undrinkable.

We stayed at Luton Hoo last year and were impressed with how dog-friendly they were – they even set a proper dining table for us in the main hall so we could enjoy breakfast comfortably with our dog. That’s why we chose to return. This time was the complete opposite. When we asked for the same arrangement, the manager was rude and dismissive, saying “no, we can’t accommodate you.” When I explained it had been done before, he told me it was “a mistake” and then walked off. We were left balancing plates on our knees on sofas by a constantly opening door – hardly the experience you expect at a 5-star hotel. When we asked again, staff simply said “the manager has already spoken to you” and he refused to come back out. It was embarrassing, uncomfortable, and a far cry from the standard of hospitality Luton Hoo claims to offer. If you advertise as dog-friendly, guests shouldn’t be treated like an inconvenience. Very disappointing, and sadly we won’t be returning. We were made to feel unwelcome and this is not dog friendly.

The service here is outstanding, very friendly staff willing to go above and beyond to assist you in every area. We were offered an upgrade due to being on crutches which was greatly appreciated and our room was beautiful but perhaps a bit basic in comparison to similar hotels we’ve previously stayed at. The junior suite does have a separate sitting area which would be wonderful on a longer stay. The grounds are stunning and our bed was very comfy and we had a good nights sleep despite there being no air con in the mansion itself (provided with fans that did a good job tho). The biggest disappointment for us though was the breakfast. Breakfast was included in our package but the service we received was terrible. We waited 30 minutes for coffee to arrive. There were no clean glasses, no clean plates, the spoons tasted of metal. Beautiful grounds, view from the room. Apart from that definitely not 5 star. We arrived to having to lug our suitcase up the beautiful stairs at the entrance whilst the reception guy was dealing with a deliveroo driver. At the very least I would have expected, pardon me one moment, just let me deal with this and I’ll be right with you! We realised in the bar why someone would want deliveroo as no bar snacks/light bites available, no room service and if you want maybe we can get a starter from the restaurant menu, but nothing more! Room ok, very tired. Breakfast, we were shown to the table ordered tea, nothing came, no one came to take an eggs order, until we prompted. Checkout, no one to help with luggage again. When asked how are stay was, we said, just about ok, receptionist didn’t ask anything about it.

What a greeting from doorman Chris as we arrived !! So full of knowledge and stories about this historic property. And then the Reception staff could not do enough for us - absolutely first class and made our stay with an 8mth old memorable. Slight disappointment with the room service team - comms weren’t great and food arrived 1.20hrs later, and wasn’t good. But likely a very busy night for the kitchen. Breakfast service made up for it and was wonderful. Plus we swam and played golf - all superb! We’ll definitely be back !!

Was travelling for a swim gala so only one night. Post gala went down to the bistro restaurant with a very hungry child to be told there were no walk-ins, even though it was early in the evening and the restaurant empty. Manager was basically rude and inflexible and only offered the 19th hole for snacks or the main hotel for sandwiches. We weren't asked, or warned, about this at check-in and therefore had to drive miles to get restaurant food. Upon return, now being late, and child flagging and asleep we find the TV broken, reception kindly offered to re-room us, which we refused. Next day the gala started at 8.15 so were prompt for breakfast at 7.30, which was neither open on time or ready. Having waited 10 mins to be seated we got coffee, pastries and fruit but lack of hot food and toast as it wasn't ready. At checkout the receptionist tried to give me the wrong bill, which ironically had Bistro food on it. Having then complained they offered to get a manager, however it was already 8.10 and we were 15 mins from the gala. They did kindly call later that night offered the usual excuses and a complimentary upgrade should we ever come back - again tone deaf response.

Absolutely gorgeous especially for the price! Only wished I could’ve stayed longer to enjoy it more thoroughly. Service is swift and polite, even in the middle of the night. There is parking available. Would definitely come back and definitely recommend. Lovely courtyards and greenery, vintage room interiors, rest of hotel is very grand and luxurious, every corner is perfect for photos! The whole place is surrounded by greenery so there’s nothing really in walking distance. You can get uber though, including food delivery. Would recommend taking a car with you if you’re looking to go out and about, unless you plan on staying at the hotel mostly then you don’t need one. But overall, wonderful experience, no regret!

Luton Hoo was an elegant experience in a bucolic setting. We enjoyed exploring the gardens, had a nice meal in the restaurant and pleasant stay overall. Our room was large and comfortable, the only small glitch was the 3:00am fire alarm! We booked there due to an early flight out of Luton Airport the following morning, not your typical airport hotel!

Generally an enjoyable stay. However, no Gin, Port or Baileys available at any bar. Dinner ok, expensive for what it was. Excellent breakfast. Good pool and facilities, but the sauna was out of order, as was the swimming costume spinner. Beautiful grounds. Thoroughly enjoyed the clay pigeon shooting.

We spent about 60 mins before we were offered a suitable room. It’s a lovely place but old. The rooms in mansion house have old furniture and in the first room a bath that could easily be 40 years old. It was not clean and so the very friendly staff showed us 4 other rooms all the same and we picked the best of them but still very dissatisfied because it had very poor WiFi. We were about to leave but they showed us a room in parklands. If you stay there it’s very nice quiet and a king bed( mansion house have doubles?!) room 104 very nice . Bad start it we had a very nice time. Spa is nice and dinner steak is very good.

To say the Luton Hoo was disappointing is an understatement. Our room in the Mansion House was very nice, with a balcony overlooking the grounds - which unfortunately we were unable to enjoy due to the weather (not the hotel's fault, of course). But the restaurant...Oh, the restaurant! The Werner Restaurant was closed (evidently it is just closed on Mondays), so we dined in Adams Brasserie...very disappointing! My husband and I dined with another couple. Both of the men in our group are former chefs at Luton Hoo. The two women had the halibut, and it was truly excellent. The men's meals were another story, however. My husband ordered a steak "medium rare," and it was terribly overcooked - well-done, even. He sent it back, and it came out overcooked *again.* He would have sent it back again had we not had guests with us! Our male guest ordered Bang Bang Chicken, which he said was dry and tough and fairly tasteless. Breakfast the next morning in the Werner Restaurant was absolutely nothing special and grossly overpriced for what it was. My husband was highly disappointed, as (he says) it used to be *very* grand. It seems to have gone downhill in the last few years.

The food if you could call it that was disgusting.We ordered what they call lunch!!! choice for a 5 star hotel is dreadful, we had to have a burger!! for my partners birthday lunch as the other choice was a sandwich.On the dinner menu I chose artichoke risotto,the rice was not cooked and the artichoke consisted of 3 outside leaves that were burned totally not just chared as stated, no artichoke in the dish at all,and it was tepid at best,as was the soup. .The room was very ordinary and a long walk from the main building and with no opening windows. Pretentious , totally overpriced rip off.

One night stay prior to flying early out of Luton. Warm welcome by reception staff. Room nice and big, bed comfy but on the small side! We had dinner in the lounge. I had pe and mint veloute which was pretty bland. My husband had beef sliders which he said were tasty. There were staff around but not very attentive. No draft beer which always disappoints my husband. Very surprised that all the staff we asked knew nothing of the history of the Hotel!? What a shame, I researched myself but it would have been good if they knew. Lounge area pretty tired but I note the place is closing for changes in late September. Grounds were great and would have been nice to have more time to use the pool and spa facilities. Would definitely come again

I had pe and mint veloute which was pretty bland. My husband had beef sliders which he said were tasty. There were staff around but not very attentive. No draft beer which always disappoints my husband. Very surprised that all the staff we asked knew nothing of the history of the Hotel!? What a shame, I researched myself but it would have been good if they knew. Lounge area pretty tired but I note the place is closing for changes in late September. Grounds were great and would have been nice to have more time to use the pool and spa facilities. Would definitely come again

Beautiful building with a lot of history. Dinner it was terrible, we had a crab linguine that was all mashed, unbelievable presentation, it looks like a dog food from a can, and we also had a caesar salad, but the chicken was totally bland with no salt al all, sauce was not caesar salad sauce, it was some oil, and the bread croutons were so hard and oily, impossible to eat. The wine glass on the table was dirty. Cocktails were like a 5 year old child made them, I was shocked. The bartender was very nice, we met him later on, I just think he was not properly trained and he didn’t know what to do or how to do, or the hotel is not looking after the quality level. The feeling that we had that the hotel management is relaying on the history of the place and ignoring the quality. It is riding high on its historical events. Spa area is nice, beautiful roof, but is outside the hotel building and they provide a transfer.

Beautiful grounds, view from the room. Apart from that definitely not 5 star. We arrived to having to lug our suitcase up the beautiful stairs at the entrance whilst the reception guy was dealing with a deliveroo driver. At the very least I would have expected, pardon me one moment, just let me deal with this and I’ll be right with you! We realised in the bar why someone would want deliveroo as no bar snacks/light bites available, no room service and if you want maybe we can get a starter from the restaurant menu, but nothing more! Room ok, very tired. Breakfast, we were shown to the table ordered tea, nothing came, no one came to take an eggs order, until we prompted. Checkout, no one to help with luggage again. When asked how are stay was, we said, just about ok, receptionist didn’t ask anything about it.

the lovely grounds for us made our stay wonderful, however whilst we enjoyed the old building and could feel the history, it's obviously in need of a refurb. The staff were amazing, we did not have breakfast but the supper was best forgotten. Spa was very enjoyable.

Beautiful building with amazing interior. Rooms are very good but without snacks. Restaurant food is very good. Staff levels are too low in the restaurant. The evening meal was slow to arrive and the young men lacked confidence. Breakfast was the same with the staff under too much pressure. I suspect the owner is boosting profits by cutting staff. The stonework on the outside steps and garden is badly worn and in need grouting and repairs. The new owners are cleary not interested in spending on infrastructure and repairs.

The hotel is set in a beautiful mansion house with the surrounding grounds to match. What really makes the hotel 5 star are the staff. From the moment the door opened every member of staff was pleased to see us and happy to help make our stay the best experience it could be. Thank you to all the stay for a lovely break
