Extended Stay America Suites - Elizabeth - Newark Airport

I arrived at 2:30AM and checked out at 8:30AM. Room was clean, bed was good, shower was hot. Nothing to complain about. Was very close to Newark airport. Provided shuttle to airport.

Not clean with bad smell. No shuttle service.

We stayed from Thursday to Sunday on the 4th floor, and there was a strong musty smell. There were many fans and cleaning machines running throughout our entire stay and at all times. They claim to offer breakfast, but it wasn't provided on two of the days. There is no room cleaning or towel replacement. I would not stay there again.

We stayed here for our last night of vacation before an early flight, and even that felt too long. The hotel is in desperate need of updates, cleaning and basic maintenance. The parking lot has a gated entrance, but it doesn’t work—so parking is unsecured. That was the first red flag. Walking into the lobby, we were greeted by bulletproof glass at the front desk and multiple unsettling signs, including one stating that guest records are available to law enforcement at all times, and another saying employees must carry panic alert devices for their safety. That alone made us question our safety. We waited over 15 minutes for someone to appear at the front desk to check us in. Once we got to our room, things only got worse: the room smelled musty, the floor was sticky, the carpet and headboards were stained, and the lighting in the hallways was dim and eerie. Ceiling tiles were stained, there was no ice machine, no coffee maker in the room, and the laundry area was a mess—washers were leaking water into the hallway and out of order. There was nobody at the front desk to switch rooms, but switching wouldn't have mattered anyway. The surrounding area and some of the other guests hanging around outside made us feel very unsafe. This place should be priced like a low-end motel, not at $200/night like a decent hotel. We were thankful it was just a short stay, but I would never recommend this place to anyone—especially not families.

Our stay at this hotel was very much a disappointment from our room door not locking from the inside to our little pantry not being stocked with pots pans plates or cups let alone ice the hotel has no ice machine and vending machines are pricey

I liked the fact that it was pretty close to the mall and not too far from the Ocean Breeze complex for the indoor track state championship competition. The staff was very nice. Although, my room did have an odor near the fridge in the room almost like something died. I had to spray some perfume to get past the smell. Also, they made me pay for parking that was supposed to be secure and locked up. The gates are broken so I paid for nothing. Other than those little glitches it was an ok stay.

I liked the Airport shuttle. Very efficient. Breakfast was very poor.

Great customer service. Just know that you have to pay around $20 for parking. They don't let u know that b4 hand and a deposit of $100 which you'll get back after checking out. The TV services was down on that day. Maybe just a 1 day issue. I only stayed for one day. But they have exceptional customer service

Disappointed in our recent stay. The airport shuttle was great. Instructions were clear and drivers very friendly. Our bed was very uncomfortable with three small flat pillows, a flat sheet, a sheet thin blanket and some sort of towel feeling thin blanket. When I asked the staff for another pillow and blanket I was told we couldn’t get another pillow and maybe a blanket would be brought up to the room later that night. Never happened. There is NOT breakfast at this hotel which was VERY disappointing because I specifically searched for a hotel with airport shuttle and breakfast. There were two types of super small muffins, a snack bar and oatmeal packs. Luckily there is an IHOP right across the street for food. I picked up the hair dryer in the bathroom and it was DISGUSTING. Brown stuff all over it, hairs stuck to it and lint blocking the screen in the back. I understand if you don’t stay at least 7 days you don’t get any room service however no trash cans or bags in the room. What are you suppose to do with your trash? We stayed 3 nights and had to use our bags we brought back to the room for trash. Overall would not recommend this hotel for couples or families.

Close to shopping and food, property is old and dated, could do with a refurbishment, free airport shuttle is great.

It’s a filthy cockroach hole filled with junkies and hookers smells bad bathroom falling apart no kitchen ware like it’s supposed to have stay elsewhere

Filthy, the sheet, blanket , bathroom hair all over, it serms like it was not clean after the last guest. Very dirthy .

The room was full of dust, the bathroom was dirty, the toilet had poop, and they told me they didn't have staff to clean it, they didn't change my room either and they gave bad service, I regret having stayed there, and the hotel had a bad smell too.👎👎👎

The hotel stunk very bad before walking into the building along with the hallways and my room smelled…carpet was very dirty I refused to walk on the floor without shoes

Foul odor throughout the whole building, all types of sketchy people

Only stayed one night to board cruise and would not stay again. Hallways were unkept, like they have not been vacuumed, hallway lights were out, which made us question the bedroom itself. TV did not work. Bed was uncomfortable.

Whole hotel reeks of smoke smell… rooms are not cleaned… bedsheets have holes in them. Hair dryer was not there and when asked for it, they sent some broken hair dryer which started sparkling when turned on.. room smells bad

Whoever cleaned the room , did a very bad 👎

Hallway carpet is FILTHY.

Very loud. Non stop music and arguing all night. Bed bugs. Shot mattress. Dirty. Do not recommend. Will never return.

Hotel advised there was shuttle bus from airport, but upon arrival, shuttle but was not available for whatever reason. There was a beeping sound from the hallway the whole night. Hotel is also right underneath flight path and could hear every flight taking off. Hotel is also behind a logistic warehouse and semi-trucks started working around 5am.

Rooms Need updating - super loud on the 4th floor people playing loud music fans spread throughout the floor that were loud and could be heard through the walls due to noisy carpets. No remote for the tv and not even a usb port to charge my phone .

I like that it was convenient from the airport, mall, and going out to do other things locally. I felt like the bed comfort was ok.

The room needs an upgrade. The lamp shade had holes in it. Will I stay there again probably not

Small room, cooking and eating utensils only available upon request, smoke smell as soon as you walk into property.

Room was sufficient as stated. Noise from airport until about midnight was constant. Looks like some people might be living there. Things in hall and people hanging around inside and outside. Perfectly sufficient for overnight before flight.

If I could give zero stars, I would. This was the worst hotel experience of my life. We booked through Expedia for a double bed room but after driving 6 hours in the rain, we arrived to find none available. Instead, we were stuck with side-by-side rooms. At check-in, the entrance reeked of marijuana with people laying on the ground smoking — not the welcome you want after a long trip. The first room smelled so strongly of marijuana and cigarettes that we couldn’t breathe. The second reeked of wet feet. For the cost a night, the least they could do is clean or spray something. Instead, the property felt unsafe — with sketchy people loitering in hallways, screaming in the lobby, and a general atmosphere closer to a halfway house than a hotel. To make things worse, Expedia tried to rip me off when we asked to switch hotels, quoting me double for a room across the street. When I refused, the rep even asked me, “Well, what’s your budget then?” Completely unethical. Bottom line: filthy rooms, unsafe environment, dishonest booking practices. If you want a nightmare story for your next vacation, this is your place. Otherwise, save yourself the stress, money, and fear — stay anywhere else and avoid Expedia altogether.

The staff team was very friendly and took a great care of us. The breakfast was only coffee and nutrigrain bars.

We booked a 2 double-bedded studio room but at the time of check-in, we came to know that there was no 2 double-bedded studio room left. Instead they gave us a single-bedded room initially and later after insisting further they gave us another single-bedded room. We are a family with 2 kids. But we had to stay separately in 2 rooms and that caused a lot of problems for us. So, they should be more professional not to repeat this kind of mistake in future.

The front desk staff (esp. Noelle & another staff member when I checked in) provide great friendly customer service. But the other property staff barged into my room even though I wasn't due to check out. She literally opened the door to try to get me out! Good thing I had the deadbolt in place.

When we got to the hotel, no one was at the reception desk. We knocked on the plexiglass screen several times to no avail. After about 10 minutes or so, a male staff member came out and checked us in. However, he really needs more training on customer service. He didn\'t say sorry for being late. He was unfriendly. The next day was not much better. There were no paper cups for the coffee. When I asked the same male staff member, he said, "Unfortunately" they didn\'t have any more cups. He later hesitantly asked me how many cups I needed, and went and grabbed three mugs for me after I said I needed a few. Overall, my experience was terrible.

Staff were very friendly and accommodating. I arrived a couple hours before check in started, so they didn't have a room ready yet. However, staff offered to store my luggage in a secured area while I visited the mall until my room was ready. It is within short walking distance of Mills mall, which also conveniently has a bus route that can take you directly to NYC. The only thing negative that I can address is the water temperature doesn't get hot. The water DOES get warm, but if you're someone such as myself, who likes a hot bath/shower, then you may be a bit disappointed. Overall, I very much enjoyed my stay!

We needed to stay in NJ for the night while our cars got fixed. We stayed at this hotel and to my surprise it was very nice. It was clean bar was nice and BR huge. Most of all every employee we came in contact with displayed wonderful customer service with a smile and kind words! You don’t see that anymore. I hope they don’t loose that over time!

Level of noise is perfect. However, when wanting to talk to the person in front desk, no one was there to talk to. Thank gos I didn’t have to leave or was not in an emergency. But imagine if I had an emergency. No one there to talk to. Breakfast said in the website and this morning I got a coffee and a muffin. There were not enough cups for everyone, there was a sign that they had oatmeal. They only had the picture. Don’t want to stay again anymore.

The location is great. Serene and secured neighborhood. Proximity to shopping malls and transportation. Helpful front desk. Flexible check in and checkout times. However, housekeeping and breakfast content need improvement.

Was a nice & convenient location to The Mills Jersey Gardens shopping mall and near Newark Airport and close to the Elizabeth Train Station for travel into NYC.

Clean and complete suite that had a laundry room with a vending machine. Mall was a five minute walk and is close to the Newark Airport. The lady on the morning shift was quite accommodating has she allowed us a hour extra for check out free of charge and kept our luggage till it was time to leave. Breakfast should be described as a snack your only offered a muffin with a choice of tea of coffee.

Very convenient to an IHOP as well as a huge mall both within walking disrsnce. The property outdoors really can't be improved&my room is always clean.

It was not very welcoming. There was water on the floor when we arrived. The front door of the hotel was in a terrible place. It felt unsafe there. And they charged us for parking.

Room was okay , there was no coffee saturday morning at 8o'clock, people were waiting and it was available at 9h30. Custumer service was non existent , The so called breakfast was tiny muffins, bags of dry oatmeal. On sunday at 10 o'clock there was no coffee.

The breakfast could be better

they lied about that breakfast was included. There was not such a thing. If I knew from the beginning that “breakfast included” was a fake thing I would not stay with them. I have IBS and I always ensure that I book stay with breakfast included. This one has let me down badly as I could not take my pills without food. I struggled very badly. I would not stay there again.

My room was spacious and clean. There was a mini kitchen which I did not use, except for the fridge which I stored my insulin and cold drinks.Forget about the included breakfast fare. It consisted of an urn of coffee which ran out quickly, and packets of oatmeal and hot water. There is a quick walk to an IHOP across the street which I chose for my breakfast.

“Complimentary grab-and-go breakfast” is literally muffins and coffee. Of which coffee I had to ask and wait for 20 minutes.

I stayed there for two nights, even though they said free breakfast, my first day they only had coffee and muffin, second day just the coffee. Complete false advertisement.

They advertise that the hotel provide free breakfast , but it should say that it is only coffee and muffin.

The price is very high for the facilities and breakfast is just a coffee
