A relaxed, dog friendly hotel. Wonderful roaring real fires in the bar/dining area. Set in stunning countryside with lots of walks from the door. Welcoming, cosy with plenty of character.

Beautiful location with wonderful panoramic views of the surrounding hills. The staff were all very friendly, helpful and polite. The room was comfortable and clean. It looked like it had recently been refurbished as it was in excellent condition. The choice of food at dinner was reasonably priced and of a very high standard. The breakfast was filling and delicious. They have a first class games room which is spacious and has numerous activities available including pool, darts and table football. Overall I would recommend this hotel and would stay here again.

We stayed for a night after a wedding we attended at the Shireburn and had a lovely time. The beds were really comfy, the room was spacious and decorated nicely and breakfast was good in the morning. We were in a room on the front close to the road and it was a little bit noisy, around 7am there was a big truck that sounded like it was parked right outside our window making a really loud noise for about half an hour. Apart from the noise everything else was really nice and the actual venue for the wedding is gorgeous with stunning scenery and gardens

Amazing stay. Very chilled hotel. Breakfast service was personal, friendly and food was lovely. Housekeeping staff are amazing. We stayed for 4 nights and our room was cleaned top to bottom every day. The games room is brilliant on rainy days and location is stunning. Felt right at home.

Great rooms , wonderful food and ample parking.

The bathroom was clean but tiny and no room to put my washbag. The stairs up to room 20 are soooo steep and 3 floors up.Found it difficult to get up with my suitcase and I am 78 years old and no help was offered. I did not sleep from 1.00am unto 4.00am as someone was either smoking or vaping in their room and set off the fire alarm. I was disappointed as I have stayed several times before.

Nice enough room but noisy location. Food was just about ok. Staff lovely. The biggest issue was being a solo traveller when a wedding was going on in the function room. What I had expected to be a cosy night by the fire in the pub with a good book and a nice meal was entirely ruined by the booming music which dominated the entire pub every time anyone opened the doors from the function room. My advice would be to avoid if there is a big function going on as the pub loses it's charm.

The hotel room was £130 for one night. From previous reviews I had high hopes. Unfortunately, the overnight did not live up to expectations. The room itself is quite nice, we were in the Tolkien suite with a view over the country. The bed was comfortable and we had a good nights sleep. The room is a good size with plenty of room. However, it wasn’t clean. The shower head was covered in dust, dust on top of the bed posts etc. Generally felt like the room hadn’t been cleaned in a while and was just sat for a few weeks. Unfortunately I can’t speak for the entirely of the hotel as we didn’t really engage with it. This was due to some weird and off putting smells around the property. I’m from the country, I’m used to the smell of manure etc. but the dinning area, bar and hall ways just smelt horrible. It was very off putting, so much so we didn’t go down for breakfast as we were put off eating. Staff were friendly, which makes it even more of a shame that the experience wasn’t enjoyable. This hotel is not disability accessible, lots of tight corridors and steps. The rooms are up two sets of stairs, through a small door at the back of the hotel. Rooms locks are quite high up so difficult to reach. For the price we paid this was not worth it. I wouldn’t stay here again.

Great Food, Room was spacious but had to ask for it to be vacuumed as carpet had been missed. Headboard too needed cleaning, however staff very reliable and efficient and sorted the problem immediately. Food was excellent, so overall a great stay.

I have stayed here on several occasions due to work. It is always a pleasure. The staff are friendly. The rooms are clean and comfy room, and excellent food and ales.

We had an overnight stay, it was lovely. The room was lovely, warm and welcoming. The staff were very friendly and helpful. A good old fashioned, in the nicest way B&B. My only complaint is there was a cobweb in the room, it was quite ‘cosy’ and couldn’t open the windows.

Will not stay here again. Difficult stairs to room, shower had mould around the grouting and shower tray, no hot water in shower on days two. Room was not offered to be serviced until 3pm by which time my husband needed to rest so we were simply give towels.

The food was really good and plentiful. The beds and bedlinen was clean. Unfortunately the cleanliness of the bedroom and bathroom left a lot to be desired.

Nice hotel, pretty comfortable with good food choices. Sadly my TV remote didn't work and no spare or repair was available. Not the warmest room ever, but it is an old building.

Totally enjoyed it from start to finish. Comfy bed, lovely view from room 17. The staff were very nice and helpful. The breakfast was spot on, as were the evening meals. Lovely part of the country with plenty of walks.

There are simply not enough staff working. Two on the bar (queues for service that lasted an eternity). Tables strewn with used glasses and plates. Nobody picking them up. Breakfast was a total disaster. Nowhere to sit that wasn't saturated with dirty cutlery and crockery, no staff cleaning up. We sat down (at a dirty table) for ten minutes, nobody came to help or advise, so we left. Hungry. Our room was clean and tidy, but also very small and overly heated. The shower was a pathetic dribble. The entire experience was poor.

We have stayed at other hotels, and we all agree that our experience was wonderful. The staff were so helpful and the food was excellent. Our room was very comfortable. We look forward to visiting again.

Do not recommend this Shireburn, I booked and wanted to change the date to January instead of Dec. They would NOT change it when they had my money!!! Terrible service . excuse I hadn’t booked direct with them, They kept my money!!!! Shameful and disgraceful. Robbers !

Lovely one-night stay in a welcoming hotel in lovely surroundings. Staff and service superb.

Comfortable pub - hotel experience. Some of the younger bar/ restaurant service staff could do with better training … or less time chatting amongst themselves and focus on customers waiting to be served.

The hotel is in a good place for walks. The reception isn’t on arrival was miserable unlike the lady checking us out. The bar needs more staff at night. The place was so busy the barman had no time clear glasses etc. the other barman waiter served when he could. But was busy serving tables on arrival day. The room had been repaired with plaster but needs a lick of paint. The room was too hot and windows did not open. The food was good.

Not sure whats happened, stayed here several times over the past 12mths. Last visit was poor. Think there has been a management change...Food was average and breakfast service was shocking. Wont be back.

The property was well-situated for my walk along the Tolkien Trail. My room was comfortable and well-serviced.

Beautiful location in the Ribble Valley. Hotel nicely seperated from pub/restaurant area but all in the same building. Great food in the restaurant. If the weather is good, there are some nice walks leaving from the restaurant. Would definitely recommend.

Lovely stay, great staff and very good dinner. Our room was clean and comfortable and it was good to stay in a hotel with its own ambience and character. Set in beautiful countryside with great walks on the doorstep.

Room was comfortable, but no obvious way to open window. Menu was fine, but chef seems a bit heavy on hot spices. Service was good and helpful.

The room was nice. Clean. Comfortable. The food was overpriced. Although breakfast was good.
