This is a great hotel - perfect if being near the main station/transport is important. It’s a very traditional place in terms of decor but everything was immaculate and well looked after - our room was really spacious and even had an exercise bike which we weren’t expecting! The staff were all lovely and super helpful.

Lovely personel, perfect location. But I paid extra for unlimited mini-bar.. and that was just a fridge with bottles of water ... on the hallway. Didn't even have Toblerone!!!

Pros: free parking available (as long as there is space in front of the hotel), central location at SBB, hotel is clean (if slightly quaint), personnel is friendly and helpful. Rooms have AC is needed. Breakfast is very good with many choices. Hotel is obviously great location for travelers arriving by train. Cons: noise. There is the noise of streetcars and street musicians right in front of the hotel well past midnight, and starting early in the morning (perhaps less of a problem with windows closed). Rooms are somewhat basic and (from my experience) small. No in-room fridge (not required for three star hotels). Parking will get expensive if the hotel lot is full.

The Schweizerhof is a very modern and comfortable hotel. Quiet and comfortable rooms. The hotel has excellent facilities including a bar on the ground and ice and fresh water rooms on each floor. The breakfast was great. Great transport links with the train and tram outside. I liked as a hotel guest the hotel gives you a free pass around Basel. I highly recommend the hotel.

Very conveniently located across from the train station and local metro trains and buses. Staff was welcoming. Rooms was roomy and clean. Televisions are not ‘smart’, can’t stream. Cleaning staff was not through for daily cleanings, left dirty glasses and didn’t refill hand wash.

Excellent service at breakfast, Martha was very polite and professional, another young lady at the breakfast time that I don’t remember her name was as well Very sweet and helpful. Room was extremely clean and found everything I needed. Check in employee on Tuesday a bit not helpful and extremely serious. Check out personal magnificent, professional, courteous Elisa very sweet and very helpful. Allie very helpful and sweet and professional. I will definitely come back to this location and I will make sure to share my experience with family and friends.

Excellent choice for a 3 star hotel. I’d say it’s nearly 4. Extremely clean rooms, just off the train station which makes it very convenient for travel around the country. Just be aware that many rooms are overlooking the tram station working 24/7. You might feel a little noisy when you open the window. At the meantime, soundproof is very good and you can sleep well if you close it. Highly recommended.

We had one of the larger rooms in the "villa" annex, and it was very spacious and comfortable. Everything was very modern, including window blinds that are operated electrically. It took a bit of experimentation to figure out what all the switches did. The walk-in shower was especially nice.

The hotel is nice and the location was excellent- close to the station and transport hub. The room was clean and large for a single, but the layout was oddly claustrophobic with the bed squeezed up against the wall despite having plenty of room for a better layout. Also the bed was quite uncomfortable, so I didn’t really get much sleep here. I’m sure in a different layout room the hotel would be a great choice.

Very nice clean hotel with a very nice breakfast and superlative staff. Room and bathroom were great. Tub was a little slippery and could use better traction while standing during showering. Could really use some separate shampoo and conditioner, rather than the oily bath soap. Charged an arm and a leg for laundry service. Trams, continually running during the day, made for a lot of disquieting rumbling noise.

The hotel is beautiful, conveniently located near the train and the rooms are extremely clean and comfortable. We loved our stay. The best part was the staff who were so accommodating. We had an extremely difficult journey to get to Basel due to our train being canceled, and the front desk woman so graciously allowed us to check in early. It honestly made our first day in Switzerland such a dream. I will look for their hotels whenever I travel.

The hotel is super well situated if you are using the train, a few minutes from the station. Also, the Basel card for the public transport was very much appreciated and used. Tram stops right in front of the hotel. We arrived around 10am from a transatlantic flight and was given our room right away, which was so nice. Staff is very nice and helpful not only at the reception, but in the restaurant for breakfast as well. Room was nice and clean. Would stay here again if in Basel.

Great location! Next to the main train station and the major tram stops is right in front of the hotel. Grocery stores are only 1-2 mins away. Staff were great. Shout out to Jay and Thomas for great recommendations. Housekeeping also super nice and friendly. Breakfast was good but it would be better if there are more varieties. We stayed there for 6 nights and majority of items were the same.

This was our second time staying at this hotel and we were looking forward to staying here again with our parents but was a little disappointed. The pillows were terrible. So flat they should be considered as blankets. We asked for more pillows and was told there’s 1 extra pillow in the room. Still not enough. So we asked for 2 more for each room and was only given 1. Staff were not as friendly as well. Breakfast was disappointing as well. They always ran out of eggs and sausages and took forever to refill.

We only stayed one night but location was good coming from airport on the bus. Also tram stops right putside hotel.Some vibration from trams but not particularly noisy. Large room and bathroom. Very comfortable bed. Staff very helpful with perfect English. Breakfast excellent with lots of choice and tea or coffee served at our table.
