It was overall of excellent standards however beds not exactly comfortable and pillows were extremely soft (in a bad way) and beds did not seem to be straight as we got the sensation that the head part was collapsing making you feel like you are sleeping upside down. Also, extremely gimmicky to use lifts due to different cards and designated lifts for different areas. Having said that, staff was incredibly polite and professional, they accommodated a very special request to fantastic standards and promptly, hotel was clean as you’d expect and overall a very high standard service (including catering)

Service décevant Très long au niveau du Check in J’avais demandé un étage assez haut pour profiter de la vue mais je ne l’ai pas eu. La vue de la chambre était médiocre vue sur un toit. Il faisait chaud dans la chambre. Le spa était fermé, aucune info avant le séjour.

Leider zu wenig Parkmöglichkeiten im Hotel eigenen Parkhaus. Man fährt ins Parkhaus da sonst keine Parkmöglichkeiten zum Check-in ersichtlich, dort eine Klingel wo wir leider 10 min standen und sich niemand meldete. Eine Mitarbeiterin auf dem Feierabend weg teilte uns dann mit man muss erst zum Check-in dort heißt es dann es gibt keine parkplätze man müsse halt schauen wo außerhalb des Hotels was frei seie. Sehr schade. Frühstück sehr überschaubar aber ausreichend

I'm frequently travelling to Basel and I always wanted to check out the Hyperion. My main reasons for booking this hotel were the gym and wellness part so I can recharge at the end of a couple long days. It turned out that the gym/wellness was closed due to renovation. I get irritated by hotels that do not inform the guests prior to booking. I would have expected the Hyperion management being able to manage the distribution of relevant information but instead the hotel information were not updated, setting wrong expectations and allowing disappointments to occur. Additionally they had massive issues with their IT systems which didn't allow me to extend my stay. Therefore I had to check out and book another hotel. Overall pretty unlucky events paired with unsatisfying experiences and improvable management. If anyone is reading this - the hotel is nice so I don't recommend to avoid the hotel. The quality of my stay simply wasn't on par with the money I paid for it.

2 nights stay to explore Basel, excellent reception staff, limited underground hotel parking but multi storey car park opposite with reduced rates via hotel. Tram system on doorstep with the impressive messe platz to see. Rooms a little small and a bit too hot but very nice bathrooms. Excellent breakfast buffet and very helpful staff. Try the Thai place Boo around the corner for dinner, it’s excellent.

Reception area and restaurant great. Service from staff good though check out queue long. Breakfast great. Cleanliness great. For the price, the room was a bit disappointing. Small and nothing special. Pillows flat as pancakes. Did ask for an extra one which came but not much better. Toiletries limited to bare essentials. No signal on UK TV channels.

The hotel itself is very nice, modern, clean, and comfortable beds. It appears to be poorly staffed. There were long lines to check in, very long wait times at the bar/restaurant, and no housekeeping service to clean our room during our 3 day stay. When we checked in the representative said the items in the mini bar were free (included) and it would be refilled daily. It was never replenished during our stay. There were gates up all around the outside of the hotel, not sure why. We stayed here as part of a Viking pre-cruise addition and added a day to our stay via Expedia.

Easy to find and convenient location. Staff were reasonably friendly. Room was clean however on one of our nights it wasn’t cleaned properly and amenities were not refilled. Very flat pillows which were uncomfortable. We would stay again.

On the positive side. Lovely room, fantastic fresh breakfast and easy access to old town. The negatives. Room not ready on first night, this problem impacted lots of guests. We eventually got a room at 17:00 and just made our dinner reservation in town. Reception staff were obviously under stress for the whole time we were at the hotel, there appeared to be a skeleton crew running the hotel. No explanation given for delays. Room not cleaned on second day. Third day normal service resumed.

My room was on the 8th floor with a great view, spacious and very, very clean..however, there was a distict bad smell (sewage?) as soon as i approached my room in the hallway. I'm not sure if this was the case in other floors, but it was present in mine. Also, tbe carpets while kept very clean and vacuumed were old and showing wear..

Rooms were very clean and modern. Maybe too modern, every control switch was like a I-Pad. One recommendation would be the need for better instructions on simple things like turning light switches on. Overall very nice, and when in Switzerland remember everything is costly.

Returned to the hotel almost 10 yrs after it was the Ramada - not much had changed but getting on the WiFi was cumbersome so just used my hotspot! Not ideal for business travellers and for this reason, I’ll stay elsewhere in Basel next time

This is my preferred hotel in Basel. Everything just works. However, this time I got a super small room with a great pillar in front of the window. Mind you, the window only had a view of a giant roof so maybe I didn't miss much. I guess this was just one of the less lucky rooms.

Although check in time is 3PM, we arrived at 10AM after traveling 14 hours. They were pleasant and even though our room wasn’t ready, they gave us an upgraded room with a view. We were able to go to the room immediately and shower and rest. They were over the top accommodating. We also went out to have dinner later and used the public transportation which was free and safe.

The check-in and check-out were poor. Waited for three hours to get to room. Too crowded lobby with people with similar problems. when we got to the room it was not cleaned or made up from previous occupants. Housekeeping was evasive in answering calls....

As a regular traveller to Basel this is the second time I have stayed at the Hyperion and it is the best hotel experience I have had so far in Basel. The location provides easy access to the city centre, the rooms are comfortable and well-equipped, and the front desk staff are friendly and helpful (I would highlight the very professional way in which our 4:30 am check-out was handled).

The customer service is outstanding! The staff behind the counter and the guest services have been so helpful. The location is right in front of a tram stop, public transportation is free for guests. We will definitely stay here again!

Das Hotel selbst ist schön. Probleme sehe ich eher beim Personal - zu wenig und zu wenig kompetent. Beim Checkin mussten wir eine halbe Stunde warten, bis wir überhaupt an die Reihe kamen. Dann dauerte es nochmals ewig, obwohl wir eine Buchung hatten. Einfache Fragen konnten nicht beantwortet werden, beziehungsweise wurden von verschiedenen Personen unterschiedlich beantwortet.

Great location and an easy tram ride from the station. We stayed before a Viking River Cruise. Viking has a desk on the lobby. The rooms were great. They were quiet, nicely appointed and comfortable. The staff could have not been more helpful.

Proximity to town center is close. Very walkable. Breakfast buffet was plentiful and had an assortment of cold cuts, meats, fruits and artisan breads. Room was spacious enough and the beds comfortable. I would stay here again.

We had a beautiful view of the city and its unique architecture of two sky scrapers. The shower was wonderful. It was hot and there was plenty of room.The breakfast buffet was huge and had a lot of choices.

Pros: - Staff are absolutely dedicated, knowledgeable and on top of things! - Trams stop right next to the hotel, and it's within walking distance to much of the town. Also, right next door to exhibition hall. Cons: - HVAC is mediocre at best, but they do at least have fans that will be brought to the room. Shouldn't be necessary though, particularly in winter! - Inhouse dining is good but truly expensive. - Rooms are pretty cramped.
