Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Chesapeake Suffolk

The hotel was nice overall. So here are the pros and cons. PROS: The check in and check out staff were very friendly and helpful. Hotel was clean, room was nice and clean, A/c was on in the room when we arrived which was great because it was over 90 degrees outside with a heat index over 100 so a cool room was great. Beds were comfortable and the room was very clean. Bathroom was spacious and clean; towels were in good shape. Room had plenty of closet space with hangers, microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker and plenty of cups. As stated, the a/c worked well and wasn't noisy. Room was quiet, clean and no bad smells, sleeping was great. Breakfast was very good with a nice selection with eggs, sausage biscuit sandwiches, waffles, muffins, juice, fruit, cereals, coffee, etc. We really enjoyed this breakfast. CONS: Shower could have had better water pressure but was adequate. The lobby, reception area, breakfast area, halls were hot like the a/c was not working well to keep up with the heat. We took our food up to the room to eat, a slight inconvenience, but it worked out well. BOTTOM LINE: We enjoyed the one-night stay and would definitely stay here again.

This property does not live up to the Marriott standard. Everything was broke. The phone, the fridge, the pool is a huge safety hazard and very cold. It is not ADA compliant completely. The chair for those with handicaps is broke. There is only 1 elevator so if it is down for maintenance people need to use the stairs. I won’t ever stay there again for the price we paid.

Staff are very friendly and the cleaning staff are excellent!! The swimming pool was not open and we weren't informed about it after during the booking process. The facility in general needs upgrading. The Continental breakfast was a lot better than we expected. Items included were spinach quiche, cubed potatoes, bacon, waffles, several types of toast, tasty muffins and fresh orange juice and coffee. Our room was very clean and the beds are quite comfortable. The air conditioner worked very well. We were quite comfortable. The tub and shower are great. The shampoo, conditioner and body wash provided were of good quality. Check in and out were easy. I would recommend staying here!

Had to wait for cleaning of rooms, toilet would not flush correctly, there was no remote for the TV, parking is limited. Pool was closed. The staff tried to accommodate, but overall experience was not great…

The indoor pool was not working, which was one of the reasons I wanted to stay at this hotel. Also, there was mold in the caulk inside the tub that can easily be fixed by cutting out the old caulk, let the area dry completely then redo it with caulk that is 100% silicone. It is waterproof, and infused with mildewcide or biocide to kill mold and mildew spores. This fix costs less than $10!! Then, there were people running up and down the hallway as though they were outside. The associates at the front desk EXCELLENT!!

Everything thing was as expected, except the pool area was out of order. That was one of the main reasons we booked this hotel, and there was no discount for the lack of amenities

The staff were helpful, polite, and pleasant. The rooms were fairly clean (a bit dusty) and housekeeping kept them that way throughout our stay. The rooms were fairly poor in condition, with a malfunctioning refrigerator, a bathroom door that wouldn't latch, and a TV that barely worked. The breakfast was decent, nothing extraordinary. Also almost all of the amenities were in disrepair. No laundry, pool under construction, even many of the ice machines were broken, and even the print center was out of order.

Room was nice large and quiet. Bathtub dripped whole time, body wash was watered down. Gym had cups and trash in morning ( we picked up), eliptical makes bad noise, weights are missing. Breakfast was just ok, coffee was good. Staff was pleasant. Didn’t swim pool looked spooky. We have stayed here multiple times.

The pool was closed and that was the only reason we picked the property

We checked in. We were not informed that the pool was not in useable condition. Hallways were extremely hot due to AC not working. In our room we had a fridge that would not stayed chilled and our food went bad

Toilet wasnt clean, tub was fine but room had an odor of cigarettes.

The room had a broken window, looked like a rock had been thrown through it. Bathroom had mold in the tub shower. The shower curtain was ripped on both sides, so barely kept the water off the floor. There was no bathmat had to use a towel. When the final straw was there was ants. The lobby area has flooring issues as well. And all the breakfast was free it wasn’t very good and had a very small selection.

No house keeping service provided only if you stay 3 days or more. If you have a concern the hotel staff was not that helpful. The Hotel is old and out dated. I would not stay anymore

The room smelled moldy and damp. The only way we managed the smell was by spraying our own Lysol and keeping the air conditioner on high, which ment we needed to keep the room cold even when it was making us uncomfortable. I asked the front desk person on Saturday morning if we were getting our room cleaned because my daughter went the bed, and if not, I wanted a fresh set of sheets for myself to change. I was informed I was getting my room cleaned. But when we returned at night, the room was not cleaned at all. Had to ask for the sheets again when they could have just given them to me earlier in the day when I first asked. The door to enter the room needs some maintenance. We try and stay with Marriott brand but for future family visits, we may need to consider other options. We stayed at the Hampton Inn & Suites Chesapeake-Square Mall for previous visits, and had to stop going for similar issues. It seems the brand is struggling to maintain a level of quality.

I was told that our reservation was canceled by the staff, also we get to uir room and the bed skirts were heavily stained as well as the pillow cases. We made a nother attempt to find another hotel and no luck. When we were leaving that next day I understood why our room was not properly cleaned. The house keeper was sitting listening to his music. So, we were not happy at all and there was no reason to complain to the staff because they were all from different properties and were very confused. And it showed with the poor service we received.

The first rooms smelled like pure smoke! Dirty dingy furniture. Moved us to another room on a upper level and the bed was decent the floor was filthy and the couch should not be touched… it was horrible. The bathroom was not cleaned properly and i was throughly disappointed in this experience.

My bathtub had rust and mold in and around it

Went inspect room blanket was dirty look like dried blood,wall nasty and dirty,so requested a refund,Bigg Red Flag

There is nothing unique but there were roches in my room

Room had roaches and no one came to spray also the toilet seat broke no one came to fix it. Staff was nice but no one took care of the issues.

Internet really is really slowly.

This property was okay. I think they could have done a better job with lighting in the lobby. A little too dark for me. The staff and pleasant and friendly. The room was clean but our TV did not work on the first night and I called and it was fixed. Close to dining and overall I would stay again

Felt like it was a very outdated hotel needing some TLC. Staff no where to be found at check in. Shower was dirty and terrible pressure. Stay = Not bad but not good

Overall the stay was satisfactory although the rooms could use some rehab (broken tiles in bathroom). Beds were comfortable and the room was very quiet so that was a plus.

Long check in, TV remote battery was dead, wifi did not work...

It was in a great location for my trip. The hotel rooms and lobby were nicely remodeled. Some areas (like ice machine area), and the hall lighting are not remodeled yet. Overall great place to stay, much better than expected for the money.

I was excited to use it, but then never went in because I felt dirty looking at it. Also, the breakfast needs bacon and plain eggs. Everything was some cheesy egg concoction with only sausage.

Daphne greeted me and she was just a ray of sunshine. So kind and so helpful.

The hotel was okay. The lady checking us in was arrogantly rude. The website said they had a hot tub they do not. When I asked about it she said because of the room that we bought we didn't have a hot tub. I asked for an upgrade none of the rooms have a hot tub and the one in the pool area has been covered up with wood but the website says they have it I'm 75 years old one of the reasons we picked this hotel is for the hot tub

Great property for our overnight stop from Fl to NJ. Room was clean, functional, and quiet. Check in was very good and the service and courtesy displayed by Rob H at the desk was so welcoming! We checked in around 2AM due to unexpected traffic, and knowing this, Rob offered our family free waters and snacks! Breakfast was great and more than your typical continental versions. Housekeeping was extremely polite as well. Overall a great stay!!!

Orchid at the reservation desk was very helpful because the person online at Hotels.com had booked my reservation in the wrong name on the hotel's end and it took a while to find it. I would not have believed it had I not seen it with my own eyes, but it was true. Same reservation with two different names (Jenkins/Kahlil) under the same reservation number. I had received the one with Jenkins on it, the hotel received the one with Kahlil on it.

We have stayed there several times. The staff is great…the front desk and housekeeping .

The front desk person Mike S was the best part of our stay. He had everything ready for us when needed. He was there both day and night and was very attentive. He deserves a raise or some kind of recognition.

First breakfast was food I can’t or won’t eat like kale and tomato frittata and eggs with jalapeños. Second breakfast was much better with croissant sandwiches and bacon. There were no cart available to haul our stuff up and a person the next morning didn’t have one either. The cars are also too small like the ones you get at the airport. I recommend you have more carts and the traditional larger ones. It was otherwise very clean, my husband slept well but the beds were way too hard for me. I gave it a high rating though because they had a hot breakfast and bath tubs.

Great breakfast in the mornings!

This is the worse Fairfield I have ever stayed at out of over 50. I have stayed at Fairfield overseas as well. 1. Checked in at 4p. My room was not made up at all. 2. They moved us to 2nd room, electric lock battery was dead. After a 10 min wait they decided to put us in another room. 3. Breakfast was 40 min late. 4. My daughter bed had a cockroach the first morning. 5. They claim some renovations are ongoing, i did not see any work being done throughout my 4 day stay. 6. Overpriced for what it offers. I have a couple photos but app is not uploading currently. This Fairfield clearly has no pride in the brand. One couple sat outside room for an hour after breakfast because their door broke. Bonvoy needs to inspect ASAP.

We had an excellent stay here. They were about to remodel but it didn't affect our stay at all. The complimentary breakfast was superb (better than getting breakfast at a restaurant) and the cook they have went above and beyond to make sure everyone was taken care of. Would definitely recommend staying here.
